Sweet! My dad used to have an old z31 with a digital dash when I was like 6. He swapped in the turbo engine but never got it running again. It sat in our yard for years until he sold it to a guy who teaches automotive in a school. Man I would love to find the guy who bought it and try to buy it back for my dad.
Well what do you know I too had a 300ZX however mine was the generation before this one (the not as desirable one LOL). I got it from my uncle for nothing but the clutch soon was gone as it had seen a lot of hard miles. Great to see some content on this car now that the BMW is done. Thanks.
I’m bout to drop the trans on my 91 TT. Needing to install downpipes and exhaust. Swapping transmission mount for a Nismo mount while I’m in there. This video is a huge help. You make it all look so EASY.
Sounded like I heard a whining noise when you were at the red light which seemed to stop when you pressed the clutch pedal in. My Z32 had that noise after a new throw out bearing was not pressed on properly leaving it not to be 100% square to the input shaft. That wouldnt affect any grinding of gears but just figured I'd point it out.
that's a clean 300, that is good yours came with a mid pipe, I just started and we are drenched in the downpipes worn piston rings abyss, great video come check out mine.
Do you think you have enough socket extenders to undo a bolt from your living room? I suggest a quick video to see if it's possible! LOL I'm always amazed when I'm watching the sped up videos how many extenders you come up with to reach weird places. haha
I need to document the correct extension combos need for each bolt. I end up spending way more time than I'd like to admit re-figuring it out everytime I do this lol
I'm not sure exactly, but I can tell you that I had the 6 ton Harbor Freight jack sands maxed out, and I still needed to lift the car a few inches further with the floor jack. I would say a good 2.5 ft is needed for clearance if using the transmission jack.
@@eekay3646 yeah it's a good 120 lbs at least. Definitely liftable, but not for too long lol. The NA and TT transmissions will weigh basically the same.
@@PracticalEnthusiast Can we see some more driving but have a camera outside rather than than inside? I'd like to have a Cummins I love the way they sound
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 yep this is the same one from Jalopnik. Those are good ideas, thank you! I'll try to get a video or two up in the next few weeks.
@@PracticalEnthusiast I love them 2nd gen dodges my dad had one just like yours expected my dad's was a 3500 not a 2500 he sold it cause it was a 2wd. Now my grandpa has a 2001 dodge ram 3500 with a 24 valve and a 6 speed. I love it. I might be getting a 1999 dodge ram 1500 with a 360 v8 I want to put a 24 valve and a 6 speed in it
They are very stout transmissions, but the synchros are a known weak point. If the fluid is changed regularly with the correct stuff (GL-4) then they will last a long time.
You gave it away by saying you need to remove the "old" transmission first...if you were gonna rebuild it and not swap a new one in you wouldn't have called it "old", you would just say "the transmission".
Stoked for some z content!! Would be sick if there’s an adapter set up for a 350 or 370 6 speed for these. Hope y’all had good holidays.
There is
Finally! Been waiting anxiously for another Peter series. Looking forward to another well-filmed set of episodes.
Sweet!

Glad you're back. Congrats on the Fireblade.

Happy to hear this is helpful! Best of luck on your project, it will be worth it.

Also, sub'd to see another Z32 being well maintained via your well edited videos 👍
It whines and rumbles in neutral along with the gear grinding haha. Add it to the list!
Always like how your willing to tackle anything.

Good job bro, ur video deserve more likes then others! keep it up the good quality content.

Always loved the Z32 but as performance cars become more commonplace nowadays I'm beginning to think those things aren't worth the effort
You can always get a newer, faster car...but you don't have people saying "you don't see those around anymore"
Good job so far
So nice man! I drift a z31
What Jack Stands are you using?
The dangerous ones. Harbor Freight 6 tons, I'll get them returned one of these days!
What rebuild kit are you buying?
great stuff
Approximately how high must the car be in order to remove the tranny using a transmission jack like you used? I'm going to do this soon. Thanks.

@@PracticalEnthusiast That transmission is heavy huh? I'm removing an NA 5-speed though.

"...small mini-series..."...come on, you know better than that.
I know there’s a t56 kit checkout & his Z @awkwardWizmerlin & I’m sure someone makes an adapter for a CD00x to VG probably mazworx
Hmm, maybe something other than OEM?
this is really Od, ive only heard good things about z32 trans, capable of handling around 1000hp.
