Hey guys, this is a very difficult mission on Hard Mode. As a result it took me quite a few reloads. I know some people get annoyed with my videos when there is a lot of reloading, so I try to avoid it, but sometimes stuff is just hard.
Hey, so long as there is always a full unedited video somewhere to enjoy, no problems here. Watching the struggle and adaptions sometimes can be very fun to watch.
I don't mind the reloads, I really like watching/hearing you strategize and try new tactics. Even if they don't work at first. The process is fun to watch regardless! Here's to hoping for more excellent mods like this one in the future :D
Personally, I just really like when a mod is difficult enough that you actually have a bit of a challenge beating it. I know this is probably not the most popular opinion, but it's these videos of yours I love best.
I like watching GGG struggle, he always tries to do everything for fun, meme compositions, challenges, you completely forget he is actually pretty damn good and most people would never be able to win under those conditions xD I am still struggling with nightmare difficulty myself :D
Reloadings are a sign that the mission was appropriately hard. I have no idea why someone would be upset about it? A lot of your best videos required a lot of attempts. It is fun to see you go into "serious mode" and win missions that would actually be impossible for me.
I will say I don’t really agree that you have to know the timing of every major threat beforehand to win this mission. I do, of course, speak from the experience of having completed it ;) Not gonna pretend it was easy or that it did it on my first try, but once I came up with a proper strategy, the ‘clean’ run only took me a few reloads. First thing that I believe would’ve made your life a lot easier is just slapping a nexus on top of every allies’ base. The regeneration it provides to the allies and your field forces just makes things all around a little more efficient, especially since I believe you had the nexus regeneration passive maxed out on solar core. Secondly, as you’ve pointed out yourself, the same passive that gives the nexus an attack also provides upgrade benefits to your static defense. The static defense you were praising for the entire campaign and yet scarcely used in this one big defense mission ;) Purifier cannon is indeed very good. In good numbers, with a few batteries and nexus regen, covered by allies and boosted by defensive dts, they are actually capable of taking care even of some big waves. Do remember that those cannons deal higher damage against massive targets, so they actually deal quite well with torrasques. And you gotta split your dts, have just a few at every entrance to always give a boost to static defense. The invisible men are crazy good in this campaign, but they don’t really scale with numbers all that well. I also believe the matrix overload is a trap. It doesn’t provide anything too useful, and the boost to survivability of high value units and static defense that reconstruction beam brings makes it well worth its price in solarite. On my run I’ve used the global cloak instead of death fleet (it boosts survivability of all forces on the map so it kinda helps everywhere all at once instead of in just one place) and took the other 50 solarite off the passives. I believe it was the right call. Most of my army supply was a rapid response squad of scouts supported by a couple tempests and a mothership. I see a big problem - I just throw them at it. Probably should’ve used repair afterburners, but I’ve run with tal’darim ball of death variant and it worked well enough. I would’ve also opted for shooting warp rifts instead of heroic cloning on the mothership. You’ve actually made a very good use of it, better than I thought it had, the ability to press a button and just forget about one major threat is very nice. But free static defense you can spam a ton of is really powerful. I didn’t actually use them on this mission, but I made a lot of use of them in the epilogue, and they really saved my ass a bunch there. The mothership does regenerate its energy very quickly, so the bottleneck is actually your attention devoted to the task. Anyway, my final try may have been cleaner, but I really can’t say I’ve beat this mission mere 57 minutes after I first saw it 😂 Congratulations on getting through it, and have fun in the epilogue!
My favourite part about this mod is that you don’t have to sacrifice capital ships to use a mothership. Not being able to use both carriers and ,other ships in the base campaign always felt weird to me
Agreed. Skyross wasn't as much of a thing in the campaign, which is my favorite thing. Couldnt have Carriers and Tempest at the same time even. And honestly, Repair drone Carriers were just so much better than the other options anyways.
The DTs were really the gem in the crown of this run. Clearing 3 bases and killing god knows how many Torrasque and Nydus Worms, they really came out to play
So did that DT just chill in the northern island the entire game? Imagine how helpless he must have felt. Can't help, and can't die an honourable death. Poor fella.
Good ol' Karax, the dude's base only died in the end. 3:57 And then suddenly, Nydus. **Immediately gets blasted by the Spear of Adun** 9:39 You could say it was... _Hard Mode._ 22:52 You HAD some good stuff over there. The Torrasque thought so too, since he ate all of it. 28:18 Lmao, any AI ally that gets killed gets called "Jim." 42:55 The confusion in his voice.
7:24 I know you never finished your thought, but you are probably right, especially once you get the mothership, there is so much teleportation with the protoss, the shuttle seems quaint. It really would have been better earlier when you had more limited tools. This is also the kind of mod once it's all out, might be a very satisfying binge instead of having it be broken up. It would also answer some questions for me. Also thanks for the Azeroth Reborn content!
This was awesome to watch. I'm ngl, I played this mod with Cheats. I just wanted to play with OP units, but didn't want the challenge haha. But even then, I knew this was crazy. I do think the Allies needed to be a little bit better in this mission. Don't forget too, the Prologue has also been completely revamped. So I hope you play that too!
After almost an entire campaign of Grant forgetting the Liberagoons, they finally make a return! Now, I realize in most missions, the Lberagoons weren't really needed, but in Grant's darkest hour, they are the shining beacon of hope. Well that and the DTs, static defense, several reloads, and tempests.
Lotv just doesnt have many defense missions. But a lot of people predicted siege dragoons were gonna be super good in Salvation and would you look at that
Good video, fell asleep to it, then kept watching. Would it have been better to fully saturate your minerals? You weren't mining out by the end, and you also didn't seem to be supply capped very often. Am I missing something? Also yes obligatory backseat comment
Personally, I find that anyone complaining about reloads should be playing the game for themselves, in all honesty. I gain a lot more watching theory-crafting and figuring out the puzzle that is correctly responding to the threats and problems faced. I understand and agree it can be a bit frustrating as a viewer to see/theorize a solution but not have it immediately acted upon, but the benefit of this medium is that it is a video that can be fast forwarded. If you're looking for a perfect, all-in-one victory, why are you watching someone do a challenge for the first time?
Wasnt there a unit that disabled life regen ? I dont remember wether it was a colossus or disruptor or smth but i am quite sure i saw smth like that in one of these videos
In this instance. Keeping the Shuttle, and filling it with high damage spellcasters like disruptors, to remove energy and autocast on hybrid and torrasque and probably an assassin squad of scouts to hunt hybrid and motherships is probably essential. But Grant did what he knows best and grinded for success.
I dont comment often, but this was awesome episode and it is even more awesome mod. I haven't played SC2 for more than a year but this one tempt me hard.
You had extra dark templars you didn’t transport from the Terran base up top, was kind of funny watching them walk around on the minimap when you had the DT group walk around the map
The Jimtanis misnaming made me wonder something really important; Is there a modded campaign where you get both terran and protoss units together yet? 😂😂😅
There is the LOTV fight with allies mod that has Raynor following you around and helping out on most missions including Salvation after Korhal. There is also the WOL perpetual randomizer mod I guess where you can potentially have units from all three races in your arsenal.
BTW is it safe to assume that the Hard Mode enables the units/events related to the optional objectives that Grant completed throughout the campaign? I say that because, unless I remember wrong, some of these optional objectives stated that accomplishing them disabled events such as The Torrasque spawning.
What exactly were the changes that Hard Mode brings? Also, were there units (in previous missions) that had abilities to **stop** that Rapid Regeneration of the enemy? That seemed to really mess you up sometimes, and I was wondering if the was like a Burning effect or something that could stop that. Might turn those big units into less of a problem. Okay, am gonna watch the final 20 mins now 0:)
If you train 2 motherships to use replicate on the other. Then get the copied mothership to cast replicate again and again. Can it create an infinity of ships?
@GiantGrantGamesArchives Hey Grant, great series as always. Im just commenting this cuz I ran into this video in my shorts feed. Any toughts about that. Personally I dont know what to think about it just yet but it is kinda weird to have a 50+ minute video in short format.
I might have been "some people"? I on one of the early mindhawk's challenge gauntlet videos I left a comment saying I wasn't enjoying watching you just reload the same bits over and over. That was a while ago so it could just be that my tastes have changed but I didn't feel anything like that in this video. Maybe it was because it felt more... appropriate? This kind of experience on a late game insane mission like this than whatever early game mission it was that I left that comment in. Or hey, maybe you've just... gotten more skilled at your job in the time since that video, and can make it more entertaining. I dunno. I guess I just wanted to reassure that at least one of the people that has previously complained about this sort of thing did not have an issue with it here, whatever the reason for it might have been.
What's funny is your deployment/repositioning of the overwatch isnt being utilized properly, what you should have done is position a nexus in the front of the ramp and put 30 overwatch goons behind 7 or 10 batteries... and Energizers behind them.... the drops were the correct answer to the islands, but your waste on the goons hurt you big time. What I did is 20 or so goons on overwatch on vora/alarak/karax, and then made a filler fleet of sun-scorchers as quick reaction forces. The DT's are good, but fall out halfway into mission.
so cool seeing grant take responsibility for everything, for the less than optimal build at first, for not respecting the Torrasque needing to tighten up, understanding the regen ect...I can see a lot of others just calling it bs and unfun and turning hard mode off for it, but not this giant gamer.
While the horrid regeneration definitely was part of the hard mode, for the nyduses and torrasque I was actually under the impression that they were *re*added for the Hard Mode... Even though you killed the Eater of Worlds, the good Doctor and the Mad Guy last mission. Maybe I'm wrong, but when the last mission said the "Torrasque returned to its eternal rest" and "The improved Nydus Network has been disabled permanently", I interpret it as "You don't have to deal with it next mission either!" And then the Hard Mode ignores the fact you have beaten those side objectives to add them again because it's hard mode
Hey guys, this is a very difficult mission on Hard Mode. As a result it took me quite a few reloads.
I know some people get annoyed with my videos when there is a lot of reloading, so I try to avoid it, but sometimes stuff is just hard.
Honestly, reloads don't matter to me, other than that fact if you reload, there is absolutely no chance of me doing it haha

Reloads are just the Spear of Adun's way of using its actual ultimate Aiur Technology, don't worry too much about it
I love that the Ancient Torrasque was SCI teal. Little details like that really make my day.
Even though SCI Zerg hero units never used teal.
I think they were blood red right? Like the devour and hunter killer
Yeap, they were all Daggoth Red. But there is no Daggoth anymore so of course, Hero's teal it is!
It's been a long time since Grant was this challenged. It's nice to see that once in a while.
I like watching GGG struggle, he always tries to do everything for fun, meme compositions, challenges, you completely forget he is actually pretty damn good and most people would never be able to win under those conditions xD
I am still struggling with nightmare difficulty myself :D

A lot of your best videos required a lot of attempts. It is fun to see you go into "serious mode" and win missions that would actually be impossible for me.
- Why won't you DIE?
- Horrid regeneration SON!

"We're dead but lets just see how this ability works"

Amon: Weak. Powerless.
Not even Amon was impressed 💀

GGG: "Heroic copy! I should have gotten that 2 seconds earlier"
Mothership: "I am in agreement"
The sass on this ship.
Looks like the mod maker wasn't kidding when they called it hard mode.
The DTs were really the gem in the crown of this run. Clearing 3 bases and killing god knows how many Torrasque and Nydus Worms, they really came out to play

I love how many pings on the minimap there were at the end. It really felt like a proper finale mission of a grand campaign.
6:19 that sounded zesty jaja great video as always grant! Happy new year!
Remember to play the epilogue as well!
What a mission! And what a true gamer you are for taking it on!
Not the finale, huh? That sounds…awesome!
13 seconds ago. 57 minutes video. This is gonna be beautiful, I can already tell.
Good video, fell asleep to it, then kept watching.

Ahh yes the upgrade to man with gun: nexus with gun
53:13 Love the Halo reference

Thank you for reading the messages out loud. I often watch these on my phone and can't read the text.
Hard mode indeed, nice work beating it
Happy new year
AllIn is CamelCase IIRC from my programming classes. I honestly type like that all the time haha.
The problem is that too many sans serif fonts do a poor job of distinguishing the letters L and i depending on case.
Wasnt there a unit that disabled life regen ? I dont remember wether it was a colossus or disruptor or smth but i am quite sure i saw smth like that in one of these videos

R.I.P. spine crawler family 🙏🙏😔😛
My god. This is hard mode. Big respect to all who beat this challenge!
it's like a SC1! the ol' reliable dragoons vs everything else
Thanks for the pure fun! ^^
Wow.... Grant won but the frames lost. incredible. I'm gonna need to watch this again. That was fun.
I can't help but wonder if the message at the start of the mission about taking out the bases didn't also mean the ones at the ends of the lanes.
The minimap was a lightshow during the last few seconds of the mission
BTW is it safe to assume that the Hard Mode enables the units/events related to the optional objectives that Grant completed throughout the campaign?

Grants FPS and his amount of reloads are the same in this mission!
@GiantGrantGamesArchives

3 mums? What is this, Steven Universe?
Love this Series
I wonder if there is a way to get rid of the regen cos that feels distinctly too strong :/
...on a specifically hard mode setting, on a brutal difficulty, of a very overtuned mod? It's meant to be very challenging.
If I had to guess, killing Dr. Krastinov on "the host" might disable the regen here.
Happy new year good people!
Love the difficulty showcase. I play these mods using cheats and still lose 😂 kudos to you sir
I might have been "some people"? I on one of the early mindhawk's challenge gauntlet videos I left a comment saying I wasn't enjoying watching you just reload the same bits over and over. Several reloads isn't a problem. Just not too many of them. Than it's better to skip some.
Kinda surprised grant didn't build more nexus' with their guns and huge range and splash
That was awesome!
Please play off swarm or elite hyperion next. 🙏

Nice PowerPoint presentation
I take a wild gues and say the "hard mode" was the horrid regeneration and nothing else.
It was that, additional enemies, nyduses, and the tarrasque
I played non-hard mode and didn't have to deal with Nyduses or Torrasque.
While the horrid regeneration definitely was part of the hard mode, for the nyduses and torrasque I was actually under the impression that they were *re*added for the Hard Mode... Even though you killed the Eater of Worlds, the good Doctor and the Mad Guy last mission.

You are creating a copy pf the gorgon so you are not stealing it
copyright infringement if anything
Never been so early :D
Day 2 of asking Grant to continue his Real-Scale series
He commented on it they had a problem and it will resume eventually.
@@EarliersphereOh ok, didnt see that, thanks for the Info

dang 3 seconds too slow
Just get a better comp for less lag. Or alt+f4 generally removes all lag
