As a skateboarder, I don't understand the hate on longboarders, i mean as long as they aren't in the skatepark, let them be.

Longboarding is not gay. All you trickboarders ( I am one) need to lay off. You don't understand until you're speeding down a public road 50mph+, when you put your hand down and start drifting. It is truly terrifying and at the same time awesome. Seriously, there is much more hate in the trickboarding community than in the longboarding one. In fact, longboarders don't even hate on trickboarding. It's only the trickboarders. Longboarding is a type of skateboarding just like trickboarding. Stop hating.

one thing that always annoys me about red bull is that the filming is always cutting around so much. I'd like to watch a full run, or the finals, otherwise I don't really get into it and feel like I missed something.

I'm a street skater and I'm going to say right now all you other street skaters need to stop giving long boarders shit. Longboarding is a type of skateboarding as is street. If you really respected the sport you wouldn't fucking be packing on longboarders. You would shit yourself if you bombed a hill at 50+mph and had to slide. So stop giving longboarders shit.

Why are some comments saying this is gay? HOW??? It looks fun, and they're are actually females participating! I find that amazing because it shows the broad diversity that fills the longboarding community.
I can't say the same for the skateboarding community, but I don't blame them. Our community has the right to hate posers because we are still recovering from...well a stupid ass trend that spanned from 2005-2010 ish where "skating" was advertised as an edgy rebellious thing to do that all the emo/punks/rebels do and all these fucking clothe lines and stores (like Zumiez and shit) and even some board companies almost turned us into fashion trend.
Truth is, the hate between skaters and longboarders is pretty recent as well, that may have some correlation with what I said above. I guess we hate longboarders because most of the "posers" from our community flocked to the longboarding community the moment they realized that a board existed in the world that they could actually ride. Unfortunately, passionate longboarders are now being mixed into the crowd of bandwagon hipster college students.
All I can is, that nonetheless I'm proud of the growing success of longboards because for the newcomers who do find out they love it, they will stay and be passionate...and for those only doing it for the trend...well hopefully they'll be gone in the next 5 years and find another dumbass trend thus healing both the longboarding and skateboarding community of our poser issues.

There's gonna be posers in every sport. Longboarding just happens to have most of them because of the minimal skill required to cruise around. The true sport of longboarding is intense, however, and I have mad respect for anyone who can slide one of those beasts at 30+ mph. I feel like the hate being thrown back and fourth is just by the edgy people who think they're cool for hating on other people. That's not at all what skateboarding is meant to be. Fuck the haters.
That looks so fun! It's like motocross on skateboards. I would so try that and I wish there were courses like this set up for the public to race on.
Street surfing and freestyle on small skateboard is what started skating,then came backyard pool riding,then came vert ramp halfpipes,launch ramps and small trick vert ramps in backyards..then street skating (rail slides on curbs,wall rides,kickflips etc..) and onto much more technical street tricks..Both short boards and longboards have grown in there technical riding styles and tricks quite a bit over the years.. I am 44 years old and I am born and raise in California where i still live and I still skate. I started skating in 1986 and have never stopped. I still skate short boards in the pool and lil street skate,but I mostly shred longboards at high rates of speed and do Raddical glove slides. I am sitting here with my buddy who was born in 1952 and was riding skateboards when it TRULY began when they slapped a piece of two by four on some roller skate wheels,Literally..he been skating and surfing his whole life..so ask the OG's..but the bottom line is it is Super Lame for skate culture to hate skate culture,skater hating on one another..If you Ride a Piece of Wood screwed to trucks and wheels then YOU ARE A SKATER,PERIOD.

all of the people hating on longboarding clearly don't know a thing about the history of skateboarding, I can asume that most of you haters only go back to as far as the mid 90's with new school vert skating and big stair Street skating. what you don't know is that longboarding comes from some of the earliest forms of skateboarding. in the beginning there was sidewalk surfing which is basically the same thing as longboard cruising. then there was downhill slalom style which eventually became the origins of downhill and downhill slide. finally there was old school flat ground which thanks to Tony Alva and the rest of the original Z boys became all of the different skateboarding styles we know today, street, pool, and vert. these old school guys inspired the next generation I.E. Tony Hawk who essentially invented what we consider to be new school skating. I can assure you that none of the old legends would bash longboarding because they participated in all of the original styles for competitions. So if the founding fathers of skateboarding and longboarding were one in the same, and wouldn't hate, who the heck do you think you are? what give you the right to cast your disapproval on someone else's style?

Sick this looks like boardercross or something just without the jumps. Suprised no body attempted to air over with an early grab or something. But looks fun, only ever done pump bumps on a snowboard at in indoor slope but sure they wouldbe fun on a skateboard.
+Truxton Malbon Sorry, but this shit looks pretty fucking easy. It's like mountain boarding, but with out jumps, not downhill and a wider track. Also early grabs aren't exactly hard.
+Daniel Gallagher they never get enough speed to attempt to early grab. It would look similar to doing one on flat ground. these humps are very mellow. Furthermore, I've road a bmx track with a bmx bike before; it slows you down to do airs unless you are going so fast it is unavoidable.
And honestly, I'm sure these guys are better skaters than the people bitching about longboarding. I do both, I'm sure they even surf and snowboard
This is awesome! I see some stupid comments on here like "save a friend, focus a longboard" but as a street skater myself (from the golden era) and still skating street to this day I think this is great.

I rode the pump track at the fair grounds in Madera ca. years ago on my skate board super hard packed track way more challenging than you would think

I rarely ride a longboard anymore. This course looks fun but easy.
People who ride longboards are not posers, A poser is someone who says they are something they are not. Just because someone is new or sucks at skating or rides longboards does not make them a poser, and people who are obsessed with calling out "posers" or scooter kids are hella cringy.
Summer SBX. Since lots of BMX tracks have paved turns and 5m starting hills, it could be possible to make such discipline popular. I would modify skateboards with little narower but bigger wheels with some sideways protector pattern - to keep board stable/prevent from drifting. Maybe even pneumatic or suspenced (hollow) wheels would be option. Someone should try to experiment with that and offer through kickstarter.

Whats up with all the hate from skaters? I skateboard and I am considering getting into longboarding. Really the only difference is longboards go faster than skateboards and are designed to go faster. When you fall you fall the same as if on a skateboard anyway.

I don't even wanna seem shady af, but with this simple track I would win so easily. its perfect mini hills for speed, and the curve would be so easy to curve with even just a drop-in board with loose trucks. like....holy shit, I wanna do this so bad. Thank you Redbull.

That must be hard to stay on. You can't wiggle pump on the flat because it's a bit gritty but it could be done in the berms. It's a whole new set of skills to be developed!
