I'm a bow hunting fan, so I take the quiver trait for my lab. Sometimes it is hard to see those tracer arrows in the tall grass, and Nova can find them much better than me :) Anyways, I love the video, and I love my silver lab!!
The control perk does work, when you fired your gun the dog heeled to you (indicator bottom right). Additionally, the howling perk can be activated by opening the dog command menu, and clicking the button indicated right under the wheel, this will go to the second page of the command wheel, and that is where howl will be. It functions like the praise function except the dog will howl and other dogs around it will howl even without a howl perk.
I tested bloodhounds. I had several dogs. I had one that was only trained on the top line, and I had one that was only trained on the bottom line. I tested it. I picked a point, played the dogs' attachment to the maximum, and saw how far I could walk, and watched the attachment decrease. Since the walking in the game is at a constant speed, measuring the distance showed how far I could walk before the attachment decreased. I found that this Loving ability was not particularly significant. My best, most agile bloodhound was a dog trained on the bottom line. I know, it's a Labrador. But these observations apply to all dogs.
Im still relatively new too PC gaming and i thought to get a hunting game i played cotw the angler and loved it and so decided to try this game. Your guides have made me experience in the game so much better and easier. Yesterday I had my first saltwater crocodile hunt it went great
Ok, that helps a bunch. Just got my first dog and chose retriever (obviously) but after noticing that I don’t look at the dog but towards the kill he still did nothing and was puzzled on how to use him. I got all the way to 9 companion 40ish % to 10 but literally nothing on retriever skill. I would still like to know though, is there a max level for the kill they can retrieve or can they get max level kill at max level?
I believe the Howl command can be used to flush game like Pheasants so they can be shot in flight. I'll have to test it on my boy Tanis, named after my irl lab who passed at 13 yrs old in june 2022
Thanks for the guide. I actually have a 2 yr old Chocolate lab. She goes after any animal with 4 legs or anything that flies. This summer she went after a small black bear and treed it. She also caught a nice turkey. So that it what we used this Thanksgiving. Not very far in the game, but looking at the traits, I agree with what you chose for the most useful.
I agree with your picks haven't been playing a long enough with him yet to get to 30 though. Seems to me if you pick that one at 30 that offers you longer distance and lesser burden it makes those earlier couple choices for longer distance and burden individually of no value. Unless it doubles both those values in the dog or something. Don't know about the howling wolf thing but I think the one making the dog heal when you fire a shot is if the dog is very far away from you it will then come a running back to you awaiting your wishes. Best guess anyway.. Lol
So I bought it this morning around 6 AM got my lab and it’s a chocolate lab and I chose a female and named her lady I used to have when I was younger I had my family had a either black lab or chocolate lab that was named lady
Just a theory. Dog can be told to lay down in a bush and howl when a herd passes inbetween for bow hunting or close range firearms. Not that I would use it
No i knew that because i have bloodhound but that like it runs where mallard is and then it just cant take it. I dont know why i tried another animal and all and it just cant retrieve
Hey lady to make the dog howl hold B to interact and it’s on the second page and I would put that perk on the bloodhound not the retriever because it basically acts as a long range wolf call as in my experience on Cuatro Colinas the Iberian wolves come easier when I use the dog to howl
Hey uh what one do u guys think is better the Lab or the Hound, because what i was thinking i could bring my lab for when i shotgun hunt or bird hunt, and use my bloodhound on like maps with bigger animals
So I had a TON of issues with my pup! A) REMEMBER commands/ praise often! Open "hunting dog" tab in hub + "Traits", As you level up, you can select 1 of 2 options! Ex: I chose: the L.5 - Strong (less burdened by carrying harvests", L.10 - Quiver (fetches arrows), *btw, make sure you add the "Perk" to your character under the "Archery" called "Recycle" , so your Pup can retrive arrows for you! ]* then: L.15 - "Howl", (you can add another distance on level 30 btw & have both essentially!) I am unsure if this attracts Wolves? I will be sure to test this though! , L.20 - "Sharp" (added Focus is massive and more willing to work) L.25 - I messed up and chose "Close", when "Swimming" is a better pick ans then choose for L. 30 - either or... I am choosing the Retriever for Distance likely but im only L.25 ans re-thinking this. I like the "Brave" idea and wards off predators. However, I often want predator shots ans dont want my dog ruining that hunt. Ypu can also for L.10 choose the "6th Sense" instead, as your Pup will have a higger chance of alerting prior to spooking an animal. Just Fyi: I have noticed that nothing reacts to ypur commands and praise etc. as a actual audible in game "noise" factor. Which i was sure to test. I have finally after adsing my traits had my Pup RETRIVE A FULL TURKEY so the fact that she can retrive bigger foul/birds is EXCITING & I honestly could not helo but absolutely love her first retrieval!!! Show your Pup lots of praise... I automatically always show her oraise after a command and then when things are slow I play, pet ajd praise her too, and you will Level Up FAST! I have had her for 1 day and at Level 25 - A good reference and less commands is the RDR2 horse and bonding; As she is used to more hunts and more commands she will even develop and sense when you forget her or too fsr away and will come to you and heel if she/he thinks you need her/him.
my lab will run right up to a dead goose after i shot it and not pick it up. he then runs back to me and i get a notification saying they didn't fund anything to retrieve. any ideas? am i doing something wrong or is it just new and buggy?
The lab is cute and useful but I was still wanting a pointer or setter type dog for all the Upland game birds we have in the game. Runni9ng around to flush birds is not what hunting these birds is like.
That's what I'm waiting for. I'll end up with the lab for ducks and geese but id like a pointer for upland that would actually point exactly where they were at. Hopefully they add that in later. Kinda hard to get on Pheasants, grouse and quail effectively without blowing them up trying to find them in a 50 yard circle.
If your picking one or the other I would say that the bloodhound is much more versatile, their skill works with anything (tracking injured animals). Retriever is really really good when hunting class 1's but doesn't help for anything else, except for warning you (which the bloodhound also does) when your close to animals.
All depends on what you're doing/hunting for. The lab is great for class 1 hunting. I always take my bloodhound with me when I'm grinding. He's amazing for helping me track.
Hi LadylegendXO I need to know where ibriam wolfs drink, eat, and sleep because I am trying to get a wolf so i can get bait and switch mission but I need to kill a wolf without damaging the brain and I can't find a wolf zone and the missions on caoled colines games reserve and I seen the coaled colines missions map on your channel to see how close I was and I went to the same lake you went and where you shoot your wolf but there was no wolf so im confused and ask you to help me
Pretty stoked. Today while training first Lab, I went grinding for a diamond Cinnamon Teal to complete a story in Parque Fernando. About 50 birds later got my first diamond Cin Teal along with a couple gold piebald ones. The Lab was great for this, saved me so much time and aggravation. Now fowl hunting is fun and worth it. The animation for the new dog is almost perfect meaning that it misses ducks in the water at times. I actually did wear the dog out before getting the Strong Perk. There's 3 diff degrees of tired for it. So I think the Strong Perk is viable. I'll have multiple dogs anyway to give them diff traits and coats.
The Labrakadabrador is 11/10. 🐕 😃 The trait system seems a bit conflicted. There’s options for practicality and others perhaps tested to grab the attention of a youthful spectator perhaps. Below is merely suggestion. Dog breeds should have specific “static” traits like webbed paws, hunting ability, harvest/carrying compacity, scent tracking, and sight tracking. It’s what they were designed/bred to do, so they just have it. 🤷 As for actual traits to level; speed/focus of tasks, spotting proficiency, and range of principal functions seems primary. There’s still room for trainable behaviors, and also crossover abilities as secondary. Perhaps an interval pattern with primary and secondary traits. Close proximity spotting should be added for less than 50M. BRAVE, would be more enticing activating for the second attack so you still get the initial shock value. Maybe the third if you go for an additional perk tier. Final retrieval distance should be ~200M. 150M is not very far for many folks.
The dog needs loads of work as most of the time doesn’t retrieve and sometimes just glitches out guys save your money and go costa get your self a coffee you appreciate it more !
Love these guides lady! Super helpful! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!

Anyways, I love the video, and I love my silver lab!!
Just go to the dog commands and use the scroll wheel to cycle the commands to make it howl
I LOVE My Lab! that's actually true, the retriving and swimming aspect is just what we needed in class 1 hunting

I'm so glad Amy!!!!
Those traits seem to have clear winners in each slot. Would have been nice to have to think about what to pick.
True
There is a second dog actions page so you can make it howl,it took me super long to figure it out

I feel like howl could be a really cool way of attracting wolves or flushing pheasant
Just a theory. Dog can be told to lay down in a bush and howl when a herd passes inbetween for bow hunting or close range firearms. Not that I would use it
What weapon did you use
could the wolf howl attract grey wolves maybe?
Contemplating buying this, can it carry class 2 or even 3 harvests? Or only 1?
Only 1
how do you get a waterfowl blind
what is that thing where ur just sitting in 5:18 and how to get it. idk why my dawg is broken it cant retrieve
The dog wheel? I press and hold b on keyboard

I got a chocolate lab named Pete, I go dove hunting with him so I am choosing chocolate as the fur type
I have n question does it track animals like the bloodhound
No that’s what the bloodhound is for
Im on my xboxs, and for some reason, it's not showing on my xboxs. Why is that?

Hey uh what one do u guys think is better the Lab or the Hound, because what i was thinking i could bring my lab for when i shotgun hunt or bird hunt, and use my bloodhound on like maps with bigger animals
Depends what you like to hunt. Birds and class 1s, you want the lab. If you grind a lot, you want the bloodhound. I like to have both lol

I'm doing a dare for Dare Drops to fully level the retriever on stream and have about a week to do it, this was incredibly helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Is howl meant to spook the birds after they come in?
Maybe
My guess is that the "less burdened" perk makes it so that the lab runs back quicker with something in its mouth.
Great video! Love the new dogger , got the female yellow, a lot cuter than my blood hound Buddy. In your honor, I named her lady!
Aw, thanks!

Just ask him to do it again. The dog works way better once it’s fully leveled up. Also when your bond has 3 hearts
Howl on command prob has something to do with Wolf hunting ..... or to assert dominance .... either or ....

I think it should be able to pick up at least class 2 species too :/ limit to class 1 only is way less useful
I am so excited I just bought the lab and thanks for the guide you responded to me yesterday you are the best!!😁😁
Glad I could help!

For some reason after I bought the dog it never came to me
