It's strange how they have speed bumps all over the town. I did notice that they keep their streets relatively clear of trash/garbage/litter though. So not too bad.
Speed bumps because ppl have died due to street racing and speed in general. I think so.eone was hit and died in front of city hall if i remember correctly.
Same here… Fall River old mill town, but then New Bedford has is much like Fall River… Born in Boston, moved away for a few years after graduation… Massachusetts does grow on you even with all it’s quirks…

I don't like Lawrence at all and Amaryllis is right is not the best place to raise children I before tried to convince an ex female friend of mine to come to NYC instead
For a poor, depressed city, Lawrence MA appears very clean and well kept and there were only a few decrepit decaying buildings. That is much more than I could say for poor depressed cities like Gary IN, Saginaw MI, Youngstown OH, Niagara Falls NY and Camden NJ which are all filthy and disgusting.
@@hisStory-y2g Pretty damn expensive to live in, too! The rents in MA are outrageous which is why I didn't return to MA after my 2-year stay in Central FL.
all i gotta say is that it looks worse in person trust me from a very good city back in the 70s n 80s but now all those good times are thrown out the window
I worked in this city with all the utility companies for a few months after the natural gas explosions. The area I was in was from the Andover line to around the Cumberland Farms on South Broadway and working nights I never felt uncomfortable there. Many residents talked about lots of issues with drugs both being used and sold in the city and I’m sure with all the police out doing traffic control it was quieter than usual. Still I’ll take a night shift in Lawrence over my usual day work in Waterbury, CT hahaha
I live right across from Cumberland farms you probably worked in my house lol Lawrence especially the south is a piece of cake people exaggerate how bad it is.
@@jaycobmelo1904 I was on the paving projects at night so probably was right in front of your place at one point. Love your work. I grew up in Lawrence. I'm doing a true crime podcast, would love to include some of your video. With your permission. Full credit would be given.
I grew up in Lawrence in the 60's and 70's. I went there 2 years ago and never want to go back. A one minute video would have been sufficient. Nothing to see here.
Well, I haven't been back to my home state of MA for nearly 20 years, and to tell you the truth, I rarely went to Lawrence except to go to a wonderful Arabic restaurant called Bishops that I insisted upon going to every birthday throughout my teens; after that, the neighborhood where Bishop's was located had gotten too risky to venture into. So I can't say whether or not Lawrence has improved with age or if it has stayed the same. It does look to be in better shape than some of the neighborhoods in CT that we've driven through. Lawrence, Haverhill, Methuen, Andover, North Andover and Lowell are all within the same vicinity; whether or not these all cities are all considered part of the Merrimack Valley I was never sure.
Fam I 4got about bishops when I was a jit that place was gold...I'm 34 now so I didn't get to EXPERIENCE it but I remember my older cousins always bigging them up
Merrimack valley literally refers to the towns within the valley of the merrimack river so yes every thing from lowell/dracut over to newburyport/salisbury would be considered merrimack valley. Theres also the new hampshire section of the merrimack valley which has a lot of old mill towns too.
Lawrence is 40% Dominican 40% Puerto Rican 10% black 10% white If you Google the US census info. My percentages are spot on plus or minus one or two percent. If you meet people from lawrence, the overwhelming majority of them will be either Dominican or Puerto Rican. It's one of the top 6 most Latino cities in the country.
It would be nice to see the mansions on the hills. Tower hill, prospect hill all have amazing old mansions with widow walks etc. Loved growing up in lawrence. Has a little bit of everything. Also handsdown the best food can be found from any background or culture. Lawrence has it all its an immigrant city.
Lawrence, Lynn, and Lowell. The three Ls as they call em. They are sort of like the three shitty cities in Massachusetts. My whole family is from Lynn which I think is the most beautiful of the three but it’s definitely a tough city. As are the other two. They all look pretty similar. Lawrence is probably the most depressing because it’s a little smaller and farther away from Boston. Lynn has more opportunities and it’s like 5 minutes outside Boston.

Lots of speed bumps specially when school starts because of accident s in the pass with children ect...
The streets themselves appear to be in good pavement condition no potholes or rough spots anywhere except for a few manholes that are deep.
