Awesome job dude. I've been Kayaking for around a month now, it's just great to do some form of the sport when all the indoor sports are closed now, here in Germany. cheers from Hamburg.
Looks like it was a great day! Long Island sound (New York) is still nice and warm. I was rolling in a t-shirt on Sunday. Can't wait to see the next video. That place looks amazing! Cheers, Chris
Sure thing! Thanks for the motivation! I'm interested in the Ilaga but I couldn't find anywhere the recommended paddler's fit for this kayak. The manufacturer has chosen not to disclose this info. So far, I only saw one manufacturer (Valley) disclosing this crucial information. What is your perspective on the paddler's fit in this kayak.
Recommended weight of the paddler is 50-80 kg (I am close to 90kg). I have a friend 1,95 meter long testing it and his problem was mostly the feet (big feet). A smaller person should look for the Naja.
Dear Jonas! you inspired me, and had a wonderful kayak session on January 2 on river Danube! I highly appreciate your videos on cold weater clothing. I hope to go out paddling tomorrow, 12 ofJanuary. I was surprised to see you paddling with barehands, I must use 5 mm neoprene gloves here to protect my hand joints. What kind of Greenland/ eskimo paddles you really suggest to use? I made myself one of wood, which is a beautiful adventure, used it for several times, needing improvement. Whitch full carbon eskimo paddle you recommend? Sorry for bothering you with such minor things. Could I buy perhaps a Tshirt with the logo of yours? :-) Best regads!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I have been on ships on the Danube rive, many, many years ago. Very beautiful. I use poogies on my paddle and the SnapDragon Hyperhands are so warm I don't need any gloves in the winter. On this video it was not very warm but with all the action my hands still stayed warm. I use GearLab paddles but also the Gram paddles (Lars Gram, Denmark) are very good. I will make 5-6 wood paddles this spring, to lend to customers, maybe sell and to use myself. It's a big satisfaction to paddle with a paddle you have made yourself. I have not made any merchandise for selling yet, maybe I will make some T-shirts this year. Send me an email with your name and adress and I will send you a free sticker. retsam@telia.com Cheers /Jonas
I love the tuiliq! In my Ilaga with the ocean cockpit I stay more or less completely dry. Some drops of water comes in when I wear my glasses, that's all. In my other kayaks, with key hole cockpit, there is a small leakage at the sides. Like a normal spray skirt. The downside with the tuiliq is that it's not as durable as a dry suit. I have to get a new one after about two years, but they are worth it. And I paddle about 120-130 days a year, so it's no surprise they wear out.
Kurt Penner it has happened once or twice. It’s not like a dry suit around the neck, but snug enough so not much water comes in. But you are not supposed to make a roll without the hood on.
Hello, I saw in your video that you are wearing boots. Actually I have the problem with my Greenland T that it is quit narrow so that my boots are to big. What kind of shoes are you using? Cheers, Jan
Wellenjaeger hi, I had the same problem until I found these boots from Kokatat. They got rather thin and soft soles so they are working great in my Ilaga.
@@JonasAlexanderson Thanks a lot for your answer. Meanwhile I found a pair of boots that fit to my Greenland. Here some impessions of my Rebel playing in the waves ua-cam.com/video/y7CjFN6PQjo/v-deo.html Looking forward to your next video😉
Nice, Jonas! Practice, practice, practice. An endless, wonderful journey.
Great job on the video 👏 yes “practice, practice, practice” and “challenge yourself” thx 🙏
Thank you! Yes this is the only way to get better, even for an old guy like me 😁.

Nice to see you enjoy kayaking too. Would love to paddle in Sweden. Greetings from Spain.
Nice. Motivating. I’m waiting for my Ilaga. Looking forward to it.
Good luck with your Ilaga. Any time soon I will have a video about how I changed the seat in my Ilaga.

How do you like that Reed Tuilik suit? How well does the face seal keep the water out?
