Frankly I'm very pleased with this ending. I think it's wonderful she got her freedom, and her and her maid servant route to start their new life. She did everything she could to take care of him and protect him and help him and keep him alive. Now she deserves her chance to live if she has to live in the ancient world with no inside plumbing. 😂 After what happened to her and her little maid earlier in the film, you can tell she really hated him. I was hoping there would be no happy ending with them getting together after that.
Im happy she left with her maid. Hope the ML did not chase her and beg for forgiveness. Im also curious about the letter ,is it divorce notice or good bye letter 😅

ML was a terrible actor, so the FL carried this drama right up to the lovely ending when she left that bozo with her maid! Thank the Chinese gods for at least one 'happy' ending for these two women. After watching dozens of these dramas one thing is clear that why are these women so vicious there's oy one reason that is their husband who marries more than one woman and he only values one of them and others are left alone and to survive these women become cruel to eachother ..So the real villian is man who marries more than one wife..
Um, no, the other woman is still the villain. Men marrying more than one wife was just the norm back then, you'll see few dramas where a wife and concubine/s live in somewhat harmony (usually as parents of the FL) with their husband and children, so it's not like it's impossible. The FL's foil just has to be an evil scheming woman for the sake of drama.
I normally don't bash anyone's looks but the ML's face is stony and only one expression: anger throughout the drama. That's not a face anyone could love TBH.
I like the fact that FL is strong, independent and mostly not forgive ML at last...i like the empress dowager character the most because she only support FL from the moment she sees her and of course Flora too

If you know about the laws of karma, a lot of things become relative.... normally you are alternately a man or a woman (there are exceptions) AND it always pays not to be mean because you have to deal with it.
I read the comments and decided to watch as she leaves the ML, the best ending ever! WARNING ⚠️: Throughout the movie the FL gets repetedly slapped, hit and made to kneel. There is not even a minor setback for the ML or 2FL. You can check at 2.15 to verify. Even at just 30 minutes to the movie, the ML only believes the 2L and they have the upper hand over FL. There is not even respect for saving so many lives, only the guard acknowledged that she did save people. So, if you wsnt to torture yourself for the last minute happy ending, I recommend this 😅 I would have made the deal with the Emperor and let him die before escaping 😂
Funny ML keeps saying he loves the second female lead….always believes her, then only decided to believe FL towards the end just because of Maddox. Soooo ridiculous
