I'm not an artist, not in the sense of painting/drawing or any visual art. I'm a writer (and not even that, I'm a mathematician that dabbles in writing) but thanks to you I now understand the difference between Takahashi's art and Yoshida's art. I always got the feeling that they were different but never quite could put it into words. So thank you so much, I feel I can now appreciate both a lot better.
Awesome breakdown! Im currently buying all the Final Fantasy 14 artbooks.. because I want to learn the “Square Enix rpg style” for my own art. I love all the artworks of the whole art team but personaly leaning more towards the painterly art style of Kazuya Takahashi and Yusuke Mogi. Greeting from the Netherlands.
Awesome man! I wish I had the space to buy all the artbooks. (My brother has them displayed in an open closet so I've checked them all. And most of them are great but here and there low quality art prints + not all of them had extensive artist comments. That said, their works are excellent examples to study the style you're going for.
I LOVE his work but lets be real here. He will always be considered Akihiko Yoshida's clone. But maybe he doesn't care and he is proud to be considered as such so more power to him.
