  • In this episode we try to fix our Westinghouse PAK806W*40 freestanding over.
After a small flash in our oven while cooking, the circuit breaker tripped off. It's time to investigate and repair/ replace the part that failed.
This video shows how I worked out what went wrong and fixed it. It is not a complete how to video.

Hi, I have a PAK557W - 540mm Electric Stove. Food always take twice as long to cook in the oven as they should. Do you have any idea what could be wrong with it?

      Hi Michelle,
It's hard to diagnose from a distance, but first thing I would check is how hot is the oven getting? Get a thermometer that you can put in the oven to see what temp it gets too.
Does the hot plates get really hot or are they like the oven? Assuming the hot plates get hot, and the thermometer shows it won't get up to temp then that confirms that it is the oven. From here it could be the oven thermostat or the switch.
      Hope that helps

      Michelle,
      I'd agree with Shaun,
It could be a faulty thermostat or a faulty element that's on it's way out.
If you don't feel confident working around electricity, by all means have a qualified sparky look at it.
