OMG! This is fantastic. Watros was indeed a revelation. Josh had her ready to confess but then he mentions REVA. Collapse of epic proportions. Robert Newman never got the recognition he deserves. He was always paired with strong actresses (Zimmer, Forbes, Watros) and he never shrunk and let them shine.
I still get the chills when I watch Annie Dutton!!!! She was great and a member of my own personal "Hall of Fame". Watching these clips is a nice trip down memory lane! Pat Cromwell
This entire scene, especially starting at 3:25, is proof for all those DOOL fans that think Eileen Davidson was robbed of an Emmy in 1997 that she was NOT the best actress that year. Cynthia Watros was simply a revelation and the quality of her acting is far above what you typically see on daytime soap operas. Look at her face from 3:56 to 4:34. All those emotions at once: Pain, Anger, Humiliation even guilt. Bravo, Ms. Watros!
I won't lie... I was once a part of that club. Tbh, I didn't even know that Watros was in the same category. After re-watching most (if not all) of her 1997 scenes, I just said "You know what, clearly the better actress won that night."
Yes, I followed the CBS Daytime Drama lineup, but I know the Daytime Drama lineup as a whole very well and Cynthia Watros deserved the Emmy for Lead Actress that night, her entire time @ GL was great really. "Guiding Light" deserved Best Daytime Drama Series and Drama Series Writing as well. I don't even believe that GL was even nominated in either category that year strangely enough. Cynthia Watros helped hold a lot of the series together in those years and it was a shame that they let her leave from the series.
Pure dynamite! Beautiful and brilliant performance! One of the most inspired characters, and actors, to ever grace the set of GL. I keep waiting to see her in a film.
Cynthia Wattros was brilliant as Annie. She made me love Annie and hate her at the same time. She made me want Annie to get away with her schemes and get caught at the same time. In this scene, I so wanted her to confess all to Josh! If only she had! what a great story this was . . .
Guiding Light was the bomb.

Hearing the name of Reva or even the sight of Reva turned Annie into a ticking time bomb. Their rivalry was highly underrated in daytime television.
One mention of Reva and the tables turned.
CW was so dope in these scenes!!!!
if I had to pick, I think Annie Dutton and Roger Thorpe would be in the top of the list when it comes to the villians on Guiding Light.
Both top-tier villains. One was power-hungry, and the other was just bat-s**t crazy.
Josh HAD her until he mentioned Reva! You can see Annie's face turn on a dime!
Kim Zimmer Reva and Robert Newman Josh we're the best.

Not for nothing, GL had a lot of good storylines.
I swear, Annie is actually in love with Reva, not Josh! Lol
annie dutton on that stuff
