"number 16 in the world"
Gukesh's internal monologue: "for now"
Yahh hes world no. 11 now while im writing the comment
@@prakhar6852 World no. 10
Gukesh has already been in the top 10 his fide rating was 2758 .
No.8
@@prakhar6852According to the April 2024 FIDE top list it's still 16, where do you see a live rating?
Gukesh was more nervous about getting interviewed by levy instead of the actual tournament 💀💀💀
Screw you for telling the truth
You are correct
Maybe levy will kidnap him and sell his organs in Chinese black Market 😅
He gives every interview like this . I think its because English is not his first language or his personality is quiet ,calm nd reserved.
He is not nervous.... Probably another western misconception... He is always like that clam and poised
@@Any_lastwish_ English is not his first language but he's an introvert too that's why he seems nervous during interviews
Magnus didnt expect much of Gukesh in the candidates, and now hes tied for first. This man is 17 years old and tied for first playing for the world chapionship. He has earned my respect
It's not that magnus didn't expect much, he said that gukesh is very good but he lacks experience which is entirely true.
@daksh Exactly ,people are misunderstanding magnus's point
ah yes, Jeff's respect, the highest valued currency in the world
He's gonna earn the candidates win mate
@@nikolamanojlovic8533 🤣
Imagine being 17 years old and leading the candidates tournament. Absolutely incredible.
Co-leading*, but no totally agree, very impressive!
One has to consider though, that a lot of the Indian chess prodigies only have an absolute basic school education. As far as I know they basically quit school after around elementary school, thus having endless time to study chess afterwards. This is not comparable to the situation in western countries where chess players often finish high school at age 18.
the bullshit ass of an excuse of mugging up shit called the Indian education system lol.And FYI ,Gukesh is still studying,he gave his 10th exams last year iirc.
Pragg gave his exams the day he won against Anish Giri and also the day he lost against Ding liren (hours later )
@@simon.5 Wait where did you hear that they quit school after elementary? This is the first time I'm hearing of this, and I've followed these guys for years now.
@@simon.5me when I spread misinformation on the internet:
Crazy Gukesh is only 17. He looks, acts, and plays like someone much older than that.

Gukesh looks like someone who is gonna be final boss in chess in future
Yeah. Always felt his trajectory is much more Magnus like than the other kids. And he is consistent too after all he qualified by fide circuit. Hope he becomes world champ, he was always my favorite. But of course any Indian winning is good. Vidit and Pragg are amazing too.
Might not be too far in the future
And I’m all here for it. Gukesh!!
Present too
He's got that aura like Nodirbek does
This boy radiates such pure introvert energy
Haha yes
I mean what else do you expect from a 17 year old competing in one of the biggest chess events in 2024 and talking to one of the biggest chess streamers
As you said. He is literally a boy, cut him some slack.
No idea why Gukesh keeps being underrated. He’s ridiculously solid and comes up with brilliant moves. His game is really well suited for classical time formats.
Because it’s the best players in the world and the margins are razor thin. It’s normal to expect players like Hikaru, Fabiano and Ian to be favourites considering they all have higher ELOs than Gukesh and way more experience.
Credit to Gukesh for overperforming expectations and putting himself in a position to win the tournament though
Cuz he's too young
Gukesh is not underrated ... He is properly rated . It's just that Indian media hype Pragg for defeating Magnus and doesn't care about anything else . And tbh I feel Pragg abit overrated. They have hyped Pragg just like used to do for Firouzja few years back.
@@sanjanneupane4503 Honestly, Pragg's performance is still praise worthy. I just hope that other Indian prodigies like Gukesh, Arjun, and Nihal, can gain more recognition as well
@@drakebilowski7557glad to see someone mentioning speed engine Nihal too
Gukesh has such a calming presence, so softly spoken!
Agree. I was amazed he's only 17, one year younger than Pragg.
I would say basically Tamilians are like that in India. They speak softly and are very calm with people who are elder than them.
Gukesh is so mature and diplomatic for a 17 yr old.
yeah the comment i was looking for...ig people dont realize how diplomatic his answers were

Did Levy really make Gukesh speak for 17 minutes😂
I am expecting a longer interview with Kasparov at some point.
@@MorningNapalm no no, he meant gukesh is 17yrs old thts y 😅😂
@@imdp69 Yes, I got that :) I meant that Kasparov might speak for 61 minutes... :D
Man, these interviews are just freaking amazing. Levy has done his homework on each player, and has prepared personalised questions based on it. Plus this is more like a conversation, and such a breath of fresh air. None of the answers are like media trained answers. All of this, humanises each of the players. Seriously, amazing work.
He asks good questions, but could definitely get better at how he asks the questions. Feels like he rambles a bit at times and confuses the guests, especially the ones who aren’t native English speakers.
He's incredibly wise for his age... knowing the added pressure that's placed on Fabi and Nepo because of their status as "favorites" and just focusing on playing good chess. That's a winning attitude.
5:50 and his thirst for otb ahead of online due to the extra pressure and psychological aspects. Gukesh is built for pressure cooker environments!

Everyone knows Gukesh Nakamura
Gukesh is at the top rn, so interviewing him makes sense. (By the way Gukesh mentions that he is excited for the tournament, that means the interview was done before the start of round 1)
I'm rooting for Nepo since I'm from Russia. But after about 3 or 4 rounds, I discovered that Gukesh is my second favorite. I've never been so worried about a foreigner before. He has the energy and mentality of a champion... I am sure that someday Gukesh and Nodirbek will fight each other for the world title.
Yeah they are both very very promising, it’s too bad nordibek didn’t qualify instead of abasov
I’m rooting for hikaru doe he’s my favourite streamer
Gukesh is the BIGGEST underdog that I had not expected at all! Frankly, I am just AMAZED how far he has gotten by himself!
Just because gukesh indian, you call him dog?Racist
yeah but this interview probably just terminated his career.
It feels strange saying it, but I somehow expected he'd do great. Was kinda surprised MC rated him down, but must have been based on recent play, as MC has praised him before.

I think Levy would pay for a new comment section.
He is tired of stupid comments. Which I kind of get because even tho chess is for everyone and he teaches kids, you mostly want to interact with adults
Yeah i mean these type of memes are funny because they die after two weeks

"Levy never fails to" and "bro fell off" are the most annoying comments tbh
Exactly. The new wave of commenters are just copying things over and over and over and then we have the usual try-hards with their obvious pin of shame bait.
Didn't know Gukesh all that much before the candidates. I adore how he plays, and is now one of my favorite players. Awesome guy, awesome chess mind. Thanks for the interview!

Just 100x ?
@anjannayak7360 how can you say that without knowing anything about the person commenting
the life of the average super grandmaster is miserable and Gukesh doesn't even pay his own bills. the Indian talents arose because of their government after all
This guy deserves more respect by Magnus than Alireza ever did. He is the future of the game for sure. And some people will probably mention the last game between them in the candidates. It simply means nothing. This guy has the confidence of a champion.
Magnus does respect him, he said that gukesh is very talented but he lacks experience. That's why he put him lower
Magnus said he is good but not consistent which he was not . But now he is showing incredible focus and fighting spirit.
who are you to decide for magnus🤣
And who is Maggie to judge or underestimate a young player caliber ?
@@kanhaiyakumar2685he’s arguably top 2 of chess all time, and a youngster to become world champion very early. He’s earned the right to judge and pass opinions on anyone he so pleases till they prove him otherwise
Gukesh literally had the perfect answers for every question. No skirting around the question, just great responses. So many people will respond to questions in roundabout ways, but Gukesh.. just answers them with honesty which I really like and respect.

Hello Levy! Huge fan of yours. I know you watched UFC 300. I was wondering if after the Candidates you would consider doing a breakdown on Max Holloways endgame precision against Justin Gaethje? Or what went wrong with Jamahal Hills Duras gambit that eventually cost him the game in the opening.
