I am a 64 year old man who is struggling with Parkinson’s disease and although I can’t play any instrument have decided to learn parrot fashion this tune which has been a favourite of mine my entire life, I purchased a keyboard today and promptly searched UA-cam hoping to find some guidance, Sir I am blown away by your video and I feel that with your guidance I will achieve my goal even if takes me years. Many thanks and as soon as I wipe the tears of excitement from my eyes I’m making a start..Thank you...
Andrew your message touched my heart. I hope you were have been able to work towards accomplishing your goal and pray your Parkinson’s is moving as slow as one could possibly hope for given the diagnosis. More content with a better setup is coming soon :)
I wondered about the speeding up factor, it seemed in between keys. Great! This video in Am covers all versions then 😁. Who wants to sing and play in Bb minor anyways!
Jeff Buckley Thanks Jeff! I am aiming to ramp up my volume this year with more famous piano song tutorials and solo transcriptions! Glad you could read the old school marker board :) Cheers!
Great job on a lively song .. just love it ...i’m playing off the actual keys and visuals and by ear , not so much by your written stuff . Have subscribed , keep it up ... keith
Hey Wayne. I try to always hit the root note on the downbeat, beat 1. The only difference I believe was I was hitting it in my LH and just doing the quick triplet arpeggios up each chord on beat two. I think both ways sound fine. In a band setting I would leave that root note on beat 1 to the bassist and/or the lower LH, and just do the arpeggios starting on beat two for each chord in the right hand. One way or the other there should be a root note on beat one each measure :)
Thanks for the tutorial. I am primarily a guitar player but my band may be doing this song and I thought playing a piano part ould sound much better. It seems to me that in the beginning when you show the arpeggio you go all the way back to the rot note but when you start playing the whole verse you play the part differently. was this intentional or jut winging it?
Apparently they played it in Am and speed up the tape. It’s easier to play in Am and the glissandos sound better, also most would prefer singing live in the lower key anyways.
thanks for the comments John, I have invested in some better cameras and lighting. I’ll be releasing far more content soon, hopefully in better quality so it’s easier to see my notes.

Love that you picked the Travelling Wilbury’s version!
This is best tutorial ever
This is the correct key - they sped the tape up to make it more exciting for the record. thank you for this great lesson

Finally! A musician who can teach proper rhythm notation.. even knows what a duple is. Really well done.
Thanks Rich, I’ve been teaching privately now over twenty years, so hopefully some of that shows ;)

It's very hard to find a tutorial in the original key, is it too hard? :(

On the end it is very difficult to see your right hand notes.
