Yes, in Italy, many churches are without a shepherd but have a flock. It's said that all young people are moving away to Rome, or it seems Germany is becoming a "cool" place to move to. My town has three churches, each with different congregations. My priest is busy!
@@IcyHOTCatholic It's the same here in the United States, all the youth are leaving the rural areas and there are not enough priests to serve the older generations that have stayed, except in parishes that have the latin mass. In those parishes they have more than enough priests. My parish is run by the FSSP and is the only latin mass parish within a hundred miles and we have three priest, while parishes that are two or three times larger usually only have one priest.
I guess the cardinals and bishops are going to have to learn the hard way that the protesantized liturgy and catechism of the 1970's don't bring protestants into the church like they had hope but instead just drove Catholics out of it.

We could use the help here in America as well. The average Filipino Catholic is a different breed of faithfulness compared to the average American "Catholic".

Oh, this priest s very good! Our priest also travels by car a lot. He drives about 700 km when he comes to us once a month to celebrate mass. And the rest of the month he drives to many other places too. In our country Catholics are a small minority and the climate is cold with snow for about 6-7 months every year in our Arctic region. Sometimes we are afraid our priest will get hurt on the roads, driving, driving in darkness, ice and snow with moose and reindeer. May God bless all such hard working priests💙

It was St Alphonsus who founded the Redemptorist Congregation to supply priests and missions to those in rural and remote places.

I live in rural Galicia and we have an elderly priest who takes care of a large number of churches. He is 83. We are blessed to have young priests ready to help though.
I know two priests in France. One has 42 churches, one has 21. Also rural and they also want to be there.

My uncle is a priest at the Mediaterian islands. He and another priest cover 5 different islands. He tells similar stories where he transports people on his pick up truck to his parish because they have walked on foot far from their villages to get to the main road for him to pick them up to church. He said a few nuns help with catachesies and parishes. When it was hurricane season, a lot of churches were damaged and needed major repairs. Whenever he comes to the states, we always have fundraiser for his poor parishes.

Usually in the Philippines, we have that kind of system where a priest of a parish handles 20-30 village churches or chapels in a program of the church to reach out communities and cluster them into small prayer groups. The church calls it as Basic Ecclessial Communities or BEC. This is in response to widen the faith and reach communities that have a hard time going to the main parish due to its distance. Each village church or chapel have lay leaders that serve as the local administrative body to cater the spiritual needs of the faithful and arrange the necessary requirements for Catholic members in wedding, baptism, and other sacraments and submit it to the parish priest. I hope this helps.

There's a lot of people in North America (and elsewhere) who'd definitely love to move to the rural villages of Spain, if only immigration, residential, and work permits were more generous.

A mis 17 años tuve que salir de mi pueblito lindo. Vivir en un pueblito es lo mejor, se vive con tranquilidad y mas sano en medio de bosques y animales. The papacy needs to do more in ordaining priests, they're rapidly on the decline even in Africa, Asia, Latin America where Catholicism has its largest adherents, and worse in the West. The bishop of my diocese in Nigeria was almost crying on his birthday party stating that youths are no more interested in the calling. He said it pains him the more as some faithfuls in remote areas don't have access to the sacrament of holy communion for up to a year.😢.
