It looks like a fantastic kit to build. The interior seems detailed and will need to be considering the massive greenhouse that covers it. I like the Battle for how bad it's service history was. The poor aircrew that served in them had no hope. Thanks for putting the Mustang next to it to give an impression of scale. Although I have seen it at Hendon, it didn't really sink in as to how big it was to run on one engine. As good as the Merlin was, if you put three blokes in it, sling a bomb under it and double the airframe size, she isn't going to do her best work. Thanks for the content again.

It was actually announced in November 2021. Although it's a Special Hobby made kit, the actual tooling is made in Ukraine. That explains why it has been massively delayed. Russian strikes on infrastructure made the power cuts so severe that the tooling was finished in Czechia. Special Hobby's 1/72 Bf 109 Emil kits are also tooled in Ukraine

Good review, it looks like a great kit. Back in 2006 I had the pleasure of meeting the late I.D. Huntley, who had been the archivist of the Fairey company. A real gentleman. His first words to me were "I'm the one to blame for the Airfix Fairey Battle". Back in the 1960s, when asked by Airfix for plans of the Battle, he had sent them the plans for the early layout of the prototype by mistake. He could never stop apologising for it. If you can find a copy of his 2004 "bookazine" publication on the Fairey Battle published by SAM Publications it's an excellent guide to the aircraft, with stacks of photos and diagrams of the interior and bomb cells.

The decals look to be very similar to the new Special Hobby and Eduard ones. The film does give it that weird texture, which can be eliminated by either peeling it off (at your own risk) or simply airbrushing a coat of varnish over them - after application of course.

Pity there's no rear gunner in action on the box art. Nice kit! All you need now is a Hurricane Ml1 and a Blenheim and you have the AASF.. ooohh they do an AASF one :)

I'm working on the Airfix one, because it is the only one available. Glad to see there is a better version now.

Looks like a nice kit. Been waiting for a new tooling of one for quite some time. It will pair nicely with my Gladiator in Belgium markings.

Great review Captain! What a lovely looking kit! And with the lack of any decent Battles around, a very welcome release. Azur ffrom never attracted me but as this is a Hobby boss, should be a decent build. It certainly looks a beautiful kit with nice detail and I especially like the instructions which look really clear and with the colour too, makes it very obvious how to paint everything.
Will look forward to seeing you build this one mate!
Oh and the mustang looks awesome too!
Merry Christmas mate, hope you have a great one 👍😁

Disappointed there are no open bomb bay options, even the ancient Airfix kit had opening bomb doors and bombs included. Speical Hobby only ever gives you the bare bones of a kit.

    Excellent review Capt.
I never knew that about the Airfix Fairey Battle being the prototype bird.
I'm looking forward to watching the build video on this beauty 😊
Keep up the great work son 👍

@caudelguille no, the instructions do not mention a wheels up version. Fairly common, unfortunately - they leave to just figure it out!

Airfix should do a new one, it is long overdue: they’ve done the Defiant.
