Drive to Aizhai Bridge - a huge suspension bridge spanning the Dehang Grand Canyon
Aizhai Bridge is a highway in the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hunan Province, China. It is located above the Dehang Grand Canyon. It is an integral part of the highway in the northwest of Jishou City and is also a key control feature of the Baotou-Maoming Expressway (G65 National Expressway). project.
The construction of Aizhai Bridge started on October 28, 2007; the main bridge closure project was completed on August 20, 2011, and the bridge was fully connected; it was opened to traffic on March 31, 2012, and the opening ceremony was held. It took 5 years to complete the construction and cost a total of 1.4 billion yuan.
Aizhai Bridge starts from Potou Tunnel in the west, spans Dehang Grand Canyon, and ends at Aizhai No. 3 Tunnel in the east. The total length of the line is 1,779 meters, and the total length of the main bridge is 1,414 meters. The bridge deck is a two-way four-lane expressway, with a speed limit of 1 hour. 80 kilometers.
The establishment of Aizhai Bridge is a miracle in the history of bridge construction. After it was completed and opened to traffic, tourists from all over the world flocked to Aizhai Bridge. As a result, Aizhai Bridge became a 4A-level scenic spot and was praised by the media as "the most beautiful bridge in the world."
