Im finding it's nice to have a online journal on ones projects 1. For a record of what happened - especially for long projects like replaying a full season of baseball or a tournament using any sport 2. In order to record some of the odd things during a game 3. In order to improve your game play or in order to come up with questions to parts of a game you may not understand Such as K-checks in Lob 2
I haven't come up with what exactly I want to do in regards to sharing my sim baseball experience with others. I would have loved to do UA-cam like others do but it just seems it is not for me. I have shared boxscores, standings and all sorts of other things to try to start baseball sim conversation in many places but I still haven't gotten the response I want to it much of the time. I think maybe an online journal would be good if it is used to just add quick thoughts here and there about what is going on with my games / sims but with just that it really wouldn't let me do another thing I want to do which is dive more into what the stats we get from games mean. Now I have talked about it with others in live text and voice chat plus in posts too but it has never been a continual thing. I think the data is more interesting than who wins the World Series and the divisions or whatever in a replay. To finish with my post I like the idea of recording odd things that happen. For sure that is something to mention and track in a journal.
I think you're referring to Rinkside or 4th Street Hockey for super detailed and long gameplay. Peter Miller plays both but I attempted Rinkside and couldn't get past the psychedelic player cards and FACs. I presented a proposed re-design of the cards to the game creator and he began work on it but then took on a new job which took precedence over time he could devote to his game company. I only tried the EZV version of 4th Street and didn't care for it.
Hey PJet, love your videos! I personally am OK with the cards for Rinkside. They do take some getting used to because there are so many ratings for each player. I found that once I got into the flow of the game then it's much easier. I use the Excel Game Center that Jeremy created and that works great as a replacement for the FACs. Not sure if he has plans to resurrect the game, I am hoping he does!
For Dice United 2 and Stone Cold Hockey I've added advanced locker room checks which were introduced in Stone Cold Hockey's Central Cities season 2 - except instead of for one game I do it at start and half of soccer and in Hockey I do it at start and in between each period
Ron, I am glad you mentioned about how you are feeling can effect how you play. This week I really rushed some of my games because I really did not want to play sim baseball for a few days because I was enjoying Steam Next Fest Demos. Of course when I rushed to get the games done for the deadline for replay league I am in it cost me games that the team really can't afford to lose if I want them to win their division and more. They finished not much above .500 in real life that season and throwing away games with a team like that just can't happen. The team btw is the 1960 Giants. Dave and Ron, in regards to the topic I think I like as much detail / depth I can get in games. Now can I play simpler games too and enjoy them? Yes. I think it all just matters as to the mood I am in and what I am looking for. Hell I would play so many simple games more often if I actually had local people to play with. The game is secondary. Spending time with people and having a good time is more important. I hope by a miracle one day I find people around me to play what I enjoy and that would mean playing more than just sports sims. It would be nice to find a chess club and play that with people and it would be nice to finally get my friend to play her Super Mario Bros. board game I got her once that she asked for.
A few more things to add in regards to the topic ... I really do want to play the quick play games by Roberto Chiavini but I hate having to deal with the way he handles his store. I wish I could just go to a site and purchase the games immediately and not fart around worry about currency conversion and emailing too much to get the transaction done. : S Also about games that have been Frankensteined well that would definitely be Pocket Pennant Run. While yes it is nice that they have brought out new versions with more detail it is still fun to play Pocket Pennant Run in it's original format.

You may find a lot of my games on Wargame Vault
For History maker baseball I'm looking into adding a stealing mechanic and an out of town scoreboard
