Limp Bizkit's 'Sanitarium' is probably one of the most underrated covers out there. It's truly a golden example of how to do it right: keeping the essence of the original while putting your own twist on it and creating something fresh. It really does sound like it could be a Limp Bizkit original song. Shame they never recorded a studio version.
This show was the perfect snapshot of the music scene 20 years ago. Bands like Staind, KoRn, and Limp Bizkit were at the zenith of their popularity. Now, here we are, another 20 years later, and Metallica is still crushing it. I'd love to see a 40-year tribute album/concert with today's hard rock/metal/punk acts contributing!

I remember being in my teens telling my parents that I needed the television that night to record the show to a tape. They watched with me 😃. I enjoyed it so much as a superfan and it's regrettable that I wasn't older and into music throughout the 80's to enjoy more interviews and little performances. You rarely see them now.

Sum 41 was the best in my opinion. The rest is kinda lame, should've got some more 80's bands that were influenced by them not the nu metal garbage. But yeah it was MTV where that shit was non stop aired.

Creeping Death on this special still gives me chills to this day. Feeling that sudden drop in tone and hearing everyone chanting "die" gives me the goosebumps.
The covers can be "questionable".. but I think it is more of a statement that across all kinds of genres and generations, Metallica has earned respect and has influenced all kinds of other artists. Metallica is genius and even people like Snoop know it !

I remember seeing this show on TV in 2003 and I had my mind blown. This show opened up my mind to another genre of metal. The moment after I saw this show, my brother knew about it and introduced me to Metallica's discography from the Black Album and backwards to Kill Em All. My life changed. 17 years later I'm still and will always be a Metallica-head.
Korn for me is one of the best covers I've ever seen. Keeping their own sound and keeping the Metallica part of it right there in it to relate to both sides with much respect
Their mix was terrible. The singer clearly didn't emotionally collect with the material, they botched the middle, and the quit before the song got hard skipping almost half of it.
That was enjoyable - thanks for posting. I would have liked to see Jason make a brief appearance. Whatever the band's differences, he was a big part of it for a long time and deserved a 'nod'.
All except Snoop did a great job Limp Bizkit did the best though I thought at getting the crowd going I wish there could have been some covers from bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Slipknot, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeath, Dope, System Of A Down, AC DC, The Offsprings, Green Day, among others.

Creeping Death on this special still gives me chills to this day. Feeling that sudden drop in tone and hearing everyone chanting "die" gives me the goosebumps.
The covers can be "questionable".. but I think it is more of a statement that across all kinds of genres and generations, Metallica has earned respect and has influenced all kinds of other artists. Metallica is genius and even people like Snoop know it !

I remember seeing this show on TV in 2003 and I had my mind blown. This show opened up my mind to another genre of metal. The moment after I saw this show, my brother knew about it and introduced me to Metallica's discography from the Black Album and backwards to Kill Em All. My life changed. 17 years later I'm still and will always be a Metallica-head.
Korn for me is one of the best covers I've ever seen. Keeping their own sound and keeping the Metallica part of it right there in it to relate to both sides with much respect
Their mix was terrible. The singer clearly didn't emotionally collect with the material, they botched the middle, and the quit before the song got hard skipping almost half of it.

All except Snoop did a great job Limp Bizkit did the best though I thought at getting the crowd going I wish there could have been some covers from bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Slipknot, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeath, Dope, System Of A Down, AC DC, The Offsprings, Green Day, among others.
