He didn't say in the Prem, he said best striker WE had in the Premier League ERA. He's clearly saying he's Utd's best striker, but excluding Law from the equation.
My favourite striker of all time. My childhood what a finisher! Loved how the crowd chanted Ruuuuuuuuud!! After he scored. He thought they were booing him at first 😂😂
Ruud is indeed one of my favourite ballers from Man Utd, yet alone premier league, him and ole formed an insane partnership but you need to check out Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke. Even Arsenal fans, who had Henry and Bergkamp to brag about, was jealous of the electric Utd duo!
@@diegomilito5805 Oh I know all about them. They were great and admittedly a more productive partnership. I didn't post this comment to say who was better I think. Sad that Ronaldo and Cavani seemingly can't produce similarly.
I honestly believe if Ruud Van Nistelrooy had stayed longer he would have smashed every single scoring record at united and quite possibly either tied or surpassed Alan Shearer's all time premier league record as well...he simply was a goal scoring machine.
Because of two things. One, he apparently always had rifts with Ronaldo, especially in Training. Two, he drove home after he was left out of the starting line-up against Charlton Athletic on the final day of the 2005-06 season. So, Sir Alex had to make a decision. Ronaldo was the future at the time so Sir Alex went with him and unfortunately sent RVN packing.
Ruud always showed what a modern striker should be, just a lethal finisher a powerhouse. Rooney, Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy playing together was just insane.
Don’t forget Ronaldinho. He was at that time a player of his own league and even in front of Ruud. Ruud was definitely the best of the rest, but Ronaldinho played like players did ten years later.
Very perplexing the amount of superb talent that has come out of Holland over the years and the national team only have ONE major title to their name.... ridiculous!
They also had Kluivert, Hasslebank, Van Hooijdonk, around those times. Even Huntelaar. Big array of talent but seems to have dried up a bit for the Netherlands in recent years. I always remember them having to leave great players out or on the bench. Now Depay is one of their top attackers. How times change.
No one is a better finisher than him in the penalty box. The closest to him was Hernandez. Absolutely clinical. Great childhood memories watching him. Scores in almost every match.
Without even watching these, i knew which goal was going to be number 1. Not only the run from halfway, but the ball naturally being better to shoot with his left but somehow manages to turn his body to slot it in with his right. Genius!
What a player he was. Best centre forward we had since Denis Law. That period between 01-04 he was absolutely clinical in front of goal. Some say he was simply a poacher, but his strike rate was second to none, great strength, always hungry for goal, great with both feet and who could forget those trademark bullet penalties? United need someone like him at the moment, in my opinion.
Lethal striker. My favorite footballer. Goal machine. Would have liked to see his flick vs Portsmouth (game after George Best s death) and the brilliant goal vs Leicester city (game after his arsenal penalty miss when he scored a hat trick) and his goal vs Southampton from a raking Scholes long ball in 2001-02 season. One touch and finish.
I’m glad that Ruud gets the respect and attention he deserves for being one of the greatest pure finishers in the history of the game. He was the epitome of a poacher. I always love it when you hear current players giving him his flowers. He was brilliant for PSV, Man Utd and Real Madrid. I vividly remember my childhood and having the honor to watch Van Nistelrooy at Manchester United. Great memories as a lifelong Man Utd fan. He is a club legend and it’s great to see him return as an assistant manager at the club. I can certainly see him becoming the manager of the club in the future. He proved his coaching credentials at PSV, and you can tell that the players love him. However, I know for a fact that if he played today, you’d have people who don’t understand the positional role of a poacher calling him a tap-in merchant. As if that’s an easy thing to do, and doesn’t involve positional awareness, timing, clinical finishing, composure and patience. Personally, I’d rather my number 9 score the majority of their goals inside the box than a striker who tries to score goals that have a poor expected goals value.
That run and assist and by Rooney was equally impressive on 2. You don't have to be a ManU supporter to appreciate they had a formidable line up and Ruud was a scoring powerhouse.
+ CARL Maybe he had number 10. But number 10 is generally associated with a central attacking midfielder. Ruud is definitely not a midfielder but a 9 in every sense (central striker). That is what he means.
I know he has 10 on his shirt, but he was the best 'no9' I've ever seen, never had a doubt when he was one on one with the keeper, so deadly inside the box. I also love the story that he thought United fans were booing him when he joined before someone told him they were shouting Ruuuuuuud.
Heus Watergeus to be honest if you look at how much faster and technical football has become Lukaku is definitely better than can Nistelroy. BUT Ruud was a lot better than the rest of the competition at that time and Lukaku is definitely not. So yeah it’s an unfair comparison but for instance Toni Kroos is also a lot better than Franz Beckenbauer was even if the latter one was considered the best midfielder and defender of that era. Football just evolves and stuff that was completely crazy back then can be seen in every game nowadays.
This was not a man of Top 10 goals and beautiful strikes - this was a man of 150 goals in 219 games. Pure as pure goalscorer and a man who you could bet your life on once he was 1 on 1 with the keeper - a surgeon and a sniper in the art of goalscoring. What a player - Ruud Van Goal indeed!
That Vodafone jersey was a beauty
yeah, the best ever made so far... though i liked those from '99, they were less cool, but more classy...
The 2009/10 jerseys I think were the best. At least the home one
Still have mine. Such a strip.
07/08, 08/09 imo idk why i liked those a lot

Far better than Luka Ku.
My favourite striker of all time. My childhood what a finisher! Loved how the crowd chanted Ruuuuuuuuud!! After he scored. He thought they were booing him at first 😂😂

The chanting of Ruud Ruud Ruud after every goal sounds like something from the Roman era - in a stadium full of gladiators.
Ruud and Ole is my all time favorite man united partnership. They were so happy for eachother each time they scored. Two insane finishers! So clinical

Because of two things. One, he apparently always had rifts with Ronaldo, especially in Training. Ruud was at 95 goals when he left at the age of 30. There was no way he would have broken Shearer's record.
izdatsumcp 150
That's 150 goals total, he only had 95 in the PL.
His last touch was always so quick and surprising, felt like he never missed from the 6
That last goal was just unreal, had the keeper done before he even knew it
Disbelief after it settled?
Just lol...
whahahha thats exactly right , that finish is insane

I don't know why people keep overlooking Andy Cole. The guy was so underrated in my opinion
Absolute legend! I loved him back in the day. The perfect striker
Fantastic Player. The best modern day striker they've had.
Ruuuud has to be up there with United's greatest No 10's. What a goal machine. 👍🏽
he's no. 9
