I used to own Nocturn. Let's just say I was not disappointed by how great it was. Four arms, glows in the dark, great articulation, Barraki squid launcher? Whaaaaat? That thing was awesome.
@@SPYROSTSABOURIS I meant exactly what I said, "used to." Then I kind of grew up, ended up donating all of my Lego stuff to Goodwill. That was ages ago.
Is it entirely fair to include the vehicles? I mean, okay yeah they're very obviously Bionicle, but they're in a completely different league and archetype to every other set - except the playsets - that I'm not entirely sure if they can be fairly judged alongside the others.
Rahi from 2001 were mostly technic as well. Muaka and Kane-Ra, Manas, Tarakava, only Nui Jaga and Rama had some ball joints on them. Pewku from 2003 only had claws and eyes as joints. Hell, turaga don't have ball joints at all.
I felt the inclusion of vehicles on this list was pretty wrong. They're cool, but they're not what Bionicle is all about and don't properly represent the product line.
I think the Brutaka/Axonn/Vezon+Fenrak combo set deserved at least an honorable mention. That thing was a beauty of it's own regard. I absolutely loved every second of putting it together, even having to sift through 60+ pounds of my pieces to find my the stuff to put it together
True dat! Although I have to disagree about him being the most badass. Honestly, I thought Maxilos was more badass then him, partially because I think he did have an accent in the Mahri commercials lol!
I would say the whole combo model between the three titans from that wave beats it. You get 3 of some of the best titans ever made and you can choose to build the dragon (forgot its name)
NickonAquaMagna I loved the toa metru. I always thought they were the best. Still regret not getting them sooner before G2 Bionicle started. The prices have gone through the roof!
You can find Axonn fairly cheap online sometimes. Then you just need Brutaka and Vezon/Fenrakk. It can be done. With Bezon/Fenrakk, it might not exactly be cheap, but it'll be far less than what you can buy the whole thing for.
Some sets I feel needed mentioning The Boxer: I'm SHOCKED this missed your list. Incredibly fun function, unique design and concept, and a memorable role in the story. The Boxer is wonderful in every way. Bohrok: Amazing engineering and incredibly unique design; I've never seen anything that looks like the Bohrok outside Bionicle. They also are the perfect army-builders and I love how you can hang them from the canisters. Fennrakk and Vezon: Fennrakk is so big and awesome. Vezon also is very creepy-looking thanks to the cape. The set was pricey at 30 dollars, but still felt well-worth it. Keetongu: The spinning shield is fun and it's fascinating how his entire body folds forward when you open the chest for the Rhotuka spinner gimmick. Also a visually exciting set with the bright orange-yellow (dubbed "Keetorange" by fans). Makuta (2003): Yes, this guy lacks articulation later titan sets would have, but WOW is he big and cool-looking. The mask of shadows is also one of the most intimidating designs in Bionicle. Toa Mata: Let's be honest, these might not be as complicated as later sets, but Bionicle became popular for a reason. Vibrant colors,
When I saw the first position my heart exploded of joy. It was one of my first sets and the first that I bought with my money. Definitely my favorite set
The Framemaster Not even 2003 Takanuva? The Ussanui was absolutely splendid. Not to mention Takanuva, who uses the best gold colour of all time. What else do we have... Lhikan and Kikanalo Vezon and Fenrakk Makuta Icarax Toa Ignika Muaka and Kane-Ra Not even honourable mentions. What a shame.
The Framemaster Honestly, I would have included the Toa Hagah alongside the Toa Metru, since their ups and downs from the Toa Metru make them practically the same.
Professor Turnip Yeah, because they are slightly more unique and also have the benefits of both having a Rhotuka Spinner instead of just one having a weak disk launcher.
The Mari guys were all really interesting. Hydraxon was one of my all time favorites due to his weapons sticking out of his wrists like Wolverine or Spiderman, and his sharp fingernails that kept falling off and getting lost (GRRRR!), but I can't exactly argue with Maxilos being number one.
Patriots/Forza Fan The big red guy who released at the same time as brutaka? the one with the awesome axe? because I liked that one more EDIT: whoops, wrong guy
You can look up for that part in BrickLink, it's a bit expensive since it only appears in Nocturn's set, or you can try getting it from a lot of pieces from Ebay
Don't know why I'm going down a Bionicle rabbit hole right now, but glad to see that younger me had good taste as I still have my Nocturn and Brutaka in perfect condition.
Hydraxon is my favourite. I loved the simple colour scheme, huge claw weapon, and various blades on his back. The dude just looked so menacing and cool (especially with those movable fingers).
If I had to pick a favorite set, it would definitely be either Maxilos or Hydraxon. Both of them were amazingly designed. Hydraxon even had his own throwing knives, which I think I was able to make more of with pieces from other sets.
best ones r 1) the Toa Mata, Tahu looks like a fire knight, Pohatu defines sport, Onua is useful for strength & tunneling, Gali looks like a scuba which defines her aspect of being Toa of Water & at the same time she defines her own gender being a girl, Lewa can cut down trees with his axe & Kopaka is like people who scout through the ice 2) the Inika transformed the brand from a chronicle adventure tone to a dark, frightening & rock in roll tone & looks like any film makers can create a live action film series for Ignition 3) two Vezon sets cuz his respective pets can kick ass than the Barraki out of how monstrous Fenrakk/Kardas had as well as Vezon's Maniacle behaviour (let's forget about his clumsiness in 2008) 4) Bohrok introduced canister sets of villains (even if they r not) & placing Krana on the 2001 Toa Heads (they r even compatible with 2001 Matoran heads) 5) Ultimate Dume cuz the Dume figure is really Teridax according to those red eyes & he combined himself with the same Nivawk, Nidihki & Krekka that he absorbed with his shadow hand & has jaws on his mouth (despite that Miramax chose to use his 2003 titan form with wings added) 6) Takanuva of 2003 cuz his ussanui can place Kraata & we do hve a kraata shell between the two that r connected to bohrok feet the middle that has a bohrok handshield is where we put kraata in & he has two avohkii's i use the sparkling transparent one as the mask wen not worn 7) Cahdok & Gahdok were the first time we had titan sets of foremost villains (main villains of the year) unlike 2001 where we didn't hv a titan set of the main villain cuz Teridax was in a form of a Matoran & they nvr released it as a set 8) Takanuva of 2008 cuz it's the set of a character victimised by a shadow leech & i would like it if they turned him evil & i would hv seen Jaller fight him cuz they were friends & it would hv been a twist 9) Gresh, if 2008 was the conclusion of choice & 2009 was a spinoff story, he would hv made himself a new Tahu, being iconic for that year 10) Tahu of 2010, yes evryone didn't appreciate the Bionicle Stars, Tahu gets to change at any time in his original coloured armour to his golden armour & the red & gold together looks rich & pure
My favourite was a set that involved some sort of evil bionicle with a tattered cape that rode a spider looking thing with the spinax shoulder piece being the head. Looked badass.
My own list is quite different, since I've never been much of a fan of the vehicle sets. 10: *Matoran of '03* Smallish characters, the main draw for me was that they had a decent gear function at such a small size, but also had interestingly weird colours and stuff. It's unfortunate that so many of their parts were so specialised and didn't turn up later on though, which is why they're not higher: making more matoran as MOCs was pretty much impossible. 9: *Visorak* I loved the visorak. They had dual functions, the rhotuka were possibly my favourite launchers (not accurate, but they went whoosh and hit the cieling, which was way better!). Clone sets again, but they were the first sets to use the longer "bone" pieces and had limbs in interesting colours which were great for MOCing. 8: *Nui Jaga* I really liked the build and function of these, and I know I've used their pieces in so many MOCs it's not even funny. Also, purple! And they combined into a a giant bird that was fun too. 7: *Defilak and Dekar* These guys had cool colours and masks, but the best aspect of them for me was that I liked their design, and since I had all the hordika sets *I could make loads of them*, so in 2007 I had a small army of matoran with the same design to play out the underwater goings on of Mahri Nui. 6: *Boxor* This one's higher for me because I never got the Tarakava, but the punchy action of this one was great. I loved the build, and it was cool to see the little matoran actually fighting stuff and being badasses. 5: *Keetongu* Blessed source of the keetorange parts, I went ahead and got two of him when he came out, which I never did with any other sets, really. His weapons were fun, his build was weird, and his whole body clunked forward into that launcher mode. 4: *Lhikan and Kikkanalo* A Toa Metru with GOLD PARTS, GIANT SWORDS and a massive rahi set with a really satisfying build. And the first instance of those chronicler's staff parts. I loved this set. 3: *Bohrok* Or the Kal... Getting 12 different ones was a bit much, but their design was great and the function was just fun. Never did much fighting with the toa or rahi, but I can remember having them fight each other with their function all the time. Plus, infecting the toa with the krana was creepy and fun to do too. Also the shields are useful in so many places! 2: *Takanuva Mistika* An iconic character turned titan with a cool looking mask, great recolours, a great build and a lot of parts which I've ended up using for MOCs over and over and over again. 1: *Maxilos & Spinax*, for exactly the same reasons as above.
best bionicle set was definitely, Toa George Lopez. like rewind, no lie. hands down. best set of the year 2420. Posability , function , shrunken lego tickle me elmo as a weapon, what wouldn't a kid want!
I'm totally agree with Toa Metru! My other favs: - Barraki +Kalmah +Pridak +Carapan - Phantoka +Vamprah +Chirox +Antroz - and for some reasons the Rahkshi from Makuta Teridax
Hydraxon and Toa Ignika are still my favorites. Hydraxon had a build solid enough to compete with the Golden Titan himself, and had posable fingers that didn't weigh down his arms. And the Toa Ignika was like Maxilos and Spinax, only smaller. It had a full-size Toa, the Ignika, and an awesome hover board.
!0: Tahu Uniter. The most complex and cool set of the 2016 Toa 9: Mazeka. Watch the video 8: Takunuva and Ussanui. Plain awesome 7: Takua and Ussanui. See #8 6: Nidhiki. Awesome color scheme, functions, need I say more? 5: Maxilos and Spinax. Most points of articulations in a set, looks cool, bunch of recolors. 4: The Toa Masters. Keeping the style of the old Toa, they still are clones that are unique enough to still be interesting. 3: Gadunka. Not only does it have a posable mouth, it has lots of new pieces, making it great for MOCing. Also, it's awesome. 2: The Kardas Dragon. It was a set, and if you don't know why it's great, the GET OUT. 1: The Av-Matoran. Because I can. 1: Toa Mata Nui. Don't ask.
Ah, shoulder-mounted cannons. I built a guy like that once. Retro-fitted that one propeller Hewkii with wings and a tail, and I think I have an unfinished WIP upstairs.... oh man let me get back to you!
I used to have sets 8, 3, and 1. Scorpio was my favorite but since I moved a lot as a kid I never had time to take apart the sets and put them back in there boxes so they all ended up getting destroyed. I even had the extremely rare Vezon and Kardas set which ended up being lost as well. Seeing these sets gives me both happiness and sadness.
My favorite build (that I owned) was the Mistika Takanuva. God, that not only looked the part, but stand the part! It was solid, durable, and its articulations could move like a human's. Not excluding one of the best weapons and THE BEST LAUNCHER
Excellent work Eljay, you were truly in your element. In fact, this is probably one of the best presentations I've seen TTV members do in quite a while.
I still have the Tarakava, few pieces are missing, but they are still great. Vezon and Kardas was a nice set, I have it, hence my nostalgia. And you should have mentiones the Manas, they were bloody remote moving sets. I remember they costed forture back in the day even for today's standard, at least in my country.
I agree just about exactly with this list. The only thing was that I liked Spinax much more than Maxilos. Perhaps I was too young to notice/appreciate the articulation, but I loved how Spinax was made.
Aww yissss, Maxilos! One of my all-time favorite Bionicle sets, and basically for every reason you mentioned. Plus, his mask looks like original Tahu's mask, which is still one of my favorite masks too. I was surprised when you said that set was only $20; as a kid that felt like SO much money, in my mind I was sure it was probably at least $40. But man, I loved this set.
aww you should have mentioned the Bohrok! the tarakava was so much fun for me and yes i would totally agree that the toa metru sets were the best toa sets
My favourite will always be Vezon & Fenrakk. I loved these two and they are what made me a fan of these Toys. Also am i the only one that always made custom capes out of old Clothing like T-Shirts for my Bionicle? The only one? Ok.
My favorite Titan-sized set is definitely Takanuva '08. The build was incredibly unique and has an extremely solid, well articulated and rock-stable build for its humongous size. It did have some issues though. The torso is distinctly less solid than the limbs, making it look rather of skeletal when viewed from an angle the chest armor couldn't cover. The set also suffer from gappy lower legs, with a large gap right below the knees. Moreover, he has some pins sticking out, especially in his feet. His head is also way too small for the body The pros greatly outweight the cons and it really drives home how lackluster Toa Mata Nui was as a followup.

Dakota Conn With accurately simulated high heels, Roodaka could barely stand properly.

2) the Inika transformed the brand from a chronicle adventure tone to a dark, frightening & rock in roll tone & looks like any film makers can create a live action film series for Ignition
3) two Vezon sets cuz his respective pets can kick ass than the Barraki out of how monstrous Fenrakk/Kardas had as well as Vezon's Maniacle behaviour (let's forget about his clumsiness in 2008)
4) Bohrok introduced canister sets of villains (even if they r not) & placing Krana on the 2001 Toa Heads (they r even compatible with 2001 Matoran heads)
5) Ultimate Dume cuz the Dume figure is really Teridax according to those red eyes & he combined himself with the same Nivawk, Nidihki & Krekka that he absorbed with his shadow hand & has jaws on his mouth (despite that Miramax chose to use his 2003 titan form with wings added)
6) Takanuva of 2003 cuz his ussanui can place Kraata & we do hve a kraata shell between the two that r connected to bohrok feet the middle that has a bohrok handshield is where we put kraata in & he has two avohkii's i use the sparkling transparent one as the mask wen not worn
7) Cahdok & Gahdok were the first time we had titan sets of foremost villains (main villains of the year) unlike 2001 where we didn't hv a titan set of the main villain cuz Teridax was in a form of a Matoran & they nvr released it as a set
8) Takanuva of 2008 cuz it's the set of a character victimised by a shadow leech & i would like it if they turned him evil & i would hv seen Jaller fight him cuz they were friends & it would hv been a twist
9) Gresh, if 2008 was the conclusion of choice & 2009 was a spinoff story, he would hv made himself a new Tahu, being iconic for that year
10) Tahu of 2010, yes evryone didn't appreciate the Bionicle Stars, Tahu gets to change at any time in his original coloured armour to his golden armour & the red & gold together looks rich & pure

I remember getting the Yellow Jetrax back when it came out. That thing is awesome!
I like hydraxon more than maxilos
I give you a slow clap, my friends. Hydration for life.
I honestly can't decide between them. They're both amazingly designed XD
maxilos is just more complicated and has an amazing torso design. That is really the only reason why
*makuta finds your statement offensive
When I was younger I never got much money so I only got about 10 sets, so, I always loved the Axalara T9, and Mata Nui as a glatorian.
Got that brutaka for Christmas in 4th grade, pretty difficult as a kid but I loved it. No idea what I did with him lmao
Maxilos' shoulder articulation blew my mind as a kid
just rebuilt brutaka from my old bins of pieces. Favorite of all time
I'm totally agree with Toa Metru!
My other favs:
- Barraki +Kalmah +Pridak +Carapan
- Phantoka +Vamprah +Chirox +Antroz
- and for some reasons the Rahkshi from Makuta Teridax
i had the brutaka when i was younger. i could play with him for hours. #nostalgia
Hooray for maxilos and spinax! Shoulder articulation is awesome!
Axonn was always a favorite of mine. His overly large hands are a bit awkward, but that axe is so friggin badass. Hydraxon is also really cool.
As a kid I used to use Maxilos as Makuta since I didn't get the Makuta set. It's my favorite set I have.
!0: Tahu Uniter. The most complex and cool set of the 2016 Toa
9: Mazeka. Watch the video
8: Takunuva and Ussanui. Plain awesome
7: Takua and Ussanui. See #8
6: Nidhiki.
Well i clicked on this video and the ad that played was the bionicle summer wave ad. It's good to see that Lego is displaying ads on things beside TV.
Brutaka is the best
I used to have sets 8, 3, and 1. Scorpio was my favorite but since I moved a lot as a kid I never had time to take apart the sets and put them back in there boxes so they all ended up getting destroyed. I even had the extremely rare Vezon and Kardas set which ended up being lost as well. Seeing these sets gives me both happiness and sadness.
I really love this list, I don't agree with it 100% but about 90% I would say. Great Video as always and keep up the good work everyone at TTV :)
I remember i wanted number 3 soooooo bad as a kid. Parents never cracked and got me it, but I wish I had it as a kid. Still looks so cool.
My favorite build (that I owned) was the Mistika Takanuva. God, that not only looked the part, but stand the part! It was solid, durable, and its articulations could move like a human's. Not excluding one of the best weapons and THE BEST LAUNCHER
CONGRATS TO SPIN AND MAX!!!!!!!!!
I have a feeling eljay's gonna talk more about maxilos and spinax in next week's review
Axonn was my favorite.
I figured that the large version of Mata Nui would at least make an honorable mention, but I agree with the rest of this list.
I loved 5,4,& 2 and the mentions
What number 1 bionicle set I think should be is vezon and fenrakk!!!!!!!!
Had 3 Toa sets (red, ice and black), had the X-LR t9 too (amazing build) and the green anika and the white baraki
The Bohrok deserve a spot on this list. Those guys are literally toy perfection.
You guys should do Top ten promotional Gen1 and Gen2 sets
My List:
#10: Skopio XV-I
#9: Thornatus V9
#8: Jetrax T6
#7: Axalara T9
#6: Nocturn
#5: Tarix
#4: Hydraxon
#3: Pridak
#2: Maxilos & Spinax
#1: Karzahni
I like that you don't do a super-long intro like some top 10 videos.
YES! Maxilos is a fantastic set. But I also think Spinax is rather charming.
I always knew that Maxilos and spinal was the BEST ever!!
aww you should have mentioned the Bohrok!
the tarakava was so much fun for me and yes i would totally agree that the toa metru sets were the best toa sets
Ah..the barraki..... that was my favorite villian line..
LOVE the Barraki. My personal favorite was Kalmah.
what about the kardas dragon?
where is solek?!? 0_0
Lol
Didn't expect Skull Slicer to make the list
i have number 1 and 2 on a shelf next to each other. they were my favorite titan sets
The only set out of those that I owned was the toa metru. I only recently got brutaka and it is awesome.
My favourite will always be Vezon & Fenrakk. I loved these two and they are what made me a fan of these Toys. Also am i the only one that always made custom capes out of old Clothing like T-Shirts for my Bionicle? The only one? Ok.
Skopio is (according to Amazon) $285 now!
Don't forget takanuva and his speeder. First vehicle for toa if I'm not mistaken. I still have takanuva with his nostalgic gold mask of light
My favorite Titan-sized set is definitely Takanuva '08.
The build was incredibly unique and has an extremely solid, well articulated and rock-stable build
for its humongous size.
My top 5 sets:
5:Cahdok and Gahdok
4:The Toa Nuva
3:The Toa Inika
2:Jetrax T6
1:Axalara T9
