0:35 i just said omg he actually stopped talking and now i can hear the drums clearly
Tune it high enough you got your self the city of evil snare right there
I had an Acousticon® snare drum and I can tell you its really amazing! There's a big low AND a big high in one instrument... tested in several studios and stages! In those times I used 3 snares: a 8x14 wood (customized), a 3x13 Pearl steel and that Remo Acousticon®... and if I had to go to a session that there's restricted time to set, mic or edit drums, I surely went the Acousticon®!!!
I've got this head on a Ludwig, 14x8, and I've never had a snare sound so good... I would love to do my whole set in Remo Black X...
+Lenny Moore Do you use the 14x8 as a deep/aux snare or this your main snare.
Aquarian Superkick on the bass drum. Nice one Remo :)
That's a Powersonic lol! I thought the same too!!
Ty Ty why would remo use another head product in their video
because it sounds great
@@milojohnson3057 *cough* because aquarian is better *cough*
dude.. I just want to listen to the drumhead on different snares. Not being told what it sounds like.
That’s a heavy sound
👏
I actually experimented with the Falams® K-Series Supers on a φ14"x5" drum before I moved to East Contra Costa, and I liked what I heard. Two aircraft cables made the perfect snare at the time, but aircraft cable is difficult for the drum manufacturer to work with.
I just got this snare head today! :)
Brylon Terry
Does it have many overtones?
and...
@@markorfila3832it snaps…8 years later
That is a Remo snare drum. It is made from Acousticon®
Sounds lovely, been using Evans black skins but should try these too!
Hey did you ever try these, I also use Evans black skins but but a whole through the coating of the snare so im looking for a new black snare head but can't decide between this and the Evans, I have a normal 14 inch 8 or 10 lug snare (I can't remember which sorry haven't counted for a while, the standard one) however the snare rim has warped by a bit and the Evan one sounded fairly good but I don't know if this would sound better, do you know?
@JazzyJonas it is actually a Powersonic bass head.
I am waiting for the tom and bass drumhead
Warren Washington me too
That head sounds awesome
This snare head is good for Pop Punk music
and metal
tried this head already and I still prefer aquarian's hi-energy to this, however every other head I always use is a remo because remo kicks ass
Currently I'm using the emperor X and love it. I also love the PS3 with dot.
What model is this? It is one of the best sounding snares i have ever heard!!
yeah i have them for my toms and they do leave ur stick tip black so keep that in mind before u buy it ,, i dont mind it but its ur choice :)
That is clearly an Superkick 2. It has the distinctive black markings and the white felt muffle ring behind it.
@MiniAdler13 its because the superkick is honestly the best sounding kick head, but good observation
Do you need that suit to be able that level of coolness?
@diegosebafiglop They have a black suede head specifically for the snare resonant side.
The guy playing looks like someone in the mafia
que tanto deberia tensionarse este parche para q suene parecido al del video, y el resonante tambien?
I had this head for about 2 months and loved it (playing at most 4 days a week for about 2 hours) and then all the sudden the head cracked right at the power center. Remo sent me a replacement regular Emperor, broke while I was tuning it up, they sent me a replacement Emperor along with a Ambassador X for my troubles. Put on the Amb X and loved it, only to have it break 1 week in. But, I guess this is what I got from switching from Evans. Learned my lesson and am never going back to Remo!
How do you break heads that much lol
I don't think the heads are the problem. 😂
Hey Mike Patton is a great player these days!!
"Epic" comment
now my question is how do you get it sounding like that, this head has so much overtones, whats this head tuned to and are you using any muffling at all
If you hate overtones, the tune both sides almost at same pitch.
The snare side a little bit higher.
Try and then tell us
I tune my bottom head tighter then the top but if you want the pop you gotta tune the batter head tight
using this head on my snare rightnow! let me tell you something it is gggggggooooooodddddd good for metal hardcore metalcore music!worthhh it
nice sound
that snare is tasty
what is the tuning on this snare with a drumdial?
what would this skin be like on a chrome over brass (hammered) 14x6.5???
would this head give a similar sound as this with a Gretsch Catalina Maple snare?
what snare is that? sounds awesome
i play that snare at a drum practice place. the snare is an unknown snare drum but i think its a REMO snare drum.
What snare side are you using for this video. Its sounds so good and different from an ambassador snare side
I got that on my snare head and it sound like a marching snare
@crystalandytabla the mic is below the snare drum maybe?
stockbroker's jammin'
what type of resonance are you using for the review?
Same with this as with black cymbals. I love it, but it just wouldn't match the rest of my kit. (Even though most black cymbals suck, it's just I really like the Paiste Black Alpha ride.)
is it miked?
@crystalandytabla It is actually that dont show it thought its just not spot miced theres a condenser mic
pleas can anyone tell me how do you deaden the overtone on snare drums like this ( the after effect of the snare ) I just want a short noise from the snare. I have bought a remo emperor snar/tom tom head and it sounds awful ! so can anyone tell me please , thanks :) ( or just other remo heads what do this )
@remopercussion answer the question!
whats the resonant head?
sounds good man XD
Omg Aquarian super kick lol how funny
@supersaiayin666 No, they are Black suedes :P
@80sheadbanger963 Thanks, I just think it sounds SO good!
Is that a Evans on the kick? EMAD?
What kind of snare drum is that?
what snare is it really what ? is that its what it looks like a snare drum duh
@Salzcamino I already got this and I like it a lot. It sounds really thick and warm.
the question is, how much?
What is the snare side? Is a Black Suede?
The speaker sounds like he just got back from lunch break and had too much coffee.
@ramonbunny69
yeah.
it was fun what i said.^^
I highly doubt that The Remo Drum Head Company would use Evans heads while demonstrating their products..It's most likely a powerstroke pro clear head..They look similar..
I'm pretty sure those are Remo drums sumtimes they use DW on their videos but these obveously aren't dw so they must be remo
These heads are purely for esthetic purposes, hence the black film..They make white suede as well, so it has nothing to do with sonic properties by comparison..White or Black suede heads will sound the same..That's why he clearly mentions in every Black suede video demo "Give you're kit some "serious attitude".. Geared towards metal, punk, and younger players in general..
@Paitsch hahaha! lol. I just realized I said as well twice :P
anyways, great to know you have a nice head.
people buy these heads because they sound good,
but what everyone forgets or does not know is how they tune the drum.
dude,,, how do brushes sound... why remo never shows this,,,, anti brush huh,,,, on your website u never show item number .. also
Because brushes suck
why is that guy wearing a suit?
@killjoyshidae1208 yep!
wow didnt know chris jericho plays drums
@keithpwns Yeah i do too
gostei bem afinada
its a remo ebony pinstripe
@remopercussion
Oh, well that makes sense :-)
I thought it was a product DEMO, like the title said, not a description...
Doubt it, you wouldn't get a good snare response from anything other than a clear head other then a clear bottom snare head. Its most likely an Ambassador or Ambassador Hazy.
@coolcalmcollective wood
I don't wanna be rude. I'm talkin' about the snare SIDE.
@DrumAddictGuyPerson7 remo* not remote :)
these are good for studio ,but not for live there not loud at all !!!!!!!!!
Really....Aircraft cables
Just to forewarn you. This snarehead doesn't sound good on all snares.
I see. I have one on my Ludwig Acro and it sounds horrible.
I have one on my 10 lug snare and one on my old 6 lug snare and both sounds amazing
it's true. it was frustrating to tune it right in every way.
GOD! it sounds like sex! :D
The Black X is the emperor X just with a black suede coating...
6 years later I came to this video just to see if there was a difference. Thanks bro
Yep, but it sound amazing
oh my god, i want my snare to sound like this so badly
Then buy remo black x and tune it perfectly
@coolcalmcollective this is a Remo Acusticon snare drum. It is made from recycled materials.
Remo makes the best sounding snare drums. something about that acousticon! I like my Gold Crown better than my Supraphonic! Best sounding snare I've ever heard.
Best sounding snare I ever heard
that snare sounds perfect. Just bought a black x for a Crush brushed aluminum snare 6 1/2 X 14. Hope it sounds great in its own way.
The Emperor X is the best all around head i've ever played. We'll see with this.
I'm not what you did with this snare drum, but my Emperor X Black Suede, doesn't sound this crisp at all. I have it on a 14X 6.5 Brass Hammered Snare.
Depends on the snare you have,
Shell wise (Maple,Birch,Brass)
Also what tension is the snare wire
That varies as well…
Try tuning up the snare bottom
@@shxrtness7397 Or even like Titanium! Right?
I like how no one has really commented about how well this dude can groove with a tom, snare, and kick. Haha he makes it work so well.
How do you tune your snare to sound like this?! This is the sound that I have been looking for for my snare!
@IronCobraKid I would recommend Clear Ambassadors for your resonant heads but it is all personal preference check out the Remo website and don't be afraid to experiment with different head combinations until you find your sound.
Ohh and btw @pred005 the emeror x head doesn't suck like you said, I think you're just not that great at tuning, cause it sounds like you have a decent snare drum, so yeah must be your tuning... I put this head on my dw edge snare and it's a dream, sounds just like this vid but better with no mics evenso I'm very happy with it,
sounds really good here but mine sounds like total shit on my yamaha stage custom advantage 14x5.5 snare with triple flange hoops. Unless i tape and moongel the crap out of it
Dude I have a yamaha tour custom. Tour custom. And sounds like ass
fala pra caramba e nao da pra ouvir a caixa :@
True, but my fave head for snares are:
Evans Coated Genera
Remo Ambassador
Remo Black x
And Evans EC-2 Reverse Dot
OH! and Remo Black Dot
スネアの音を聴きたいのにとにかく喋りがうるさい😑
I consider the Black Suede™ Emperor® an alternate to the Evans®/D'Addario® ONX2's, which have the matte black finish that I prefer for the batters on my Tama®/Hoshino® New Imperialstars™. Stage-lighting glare mitigation that way. Not sure if the Black Suede™ Emperor-X® is snare batter enough for my needs - I'm pitting the Falams® Cybermax® against the MX™ Hybrid White.
No. It is a powersonic. If you look you can see the pressure dampening foam on the head.
To anyone using black suede heads, does the black coloring wear off onto your drumstick tips? I had that issue with Ebony Pinstripes and I didn't like it since it ended up rubbing off the drumstick tips and onto the cymbals.
They talk through the whole thing for a reason... With all of the technology today, people could easily rip a sample of the sound from this video and over-dub it for free in their recordings. But, yeah, it is pretty annoying.
