- We remember the events of 1990, 30 years later and Lisa Wickham sat with one of our camera operators who worked at TTT during the attempted coup. Noel "Syo" Simeon shared his experience living through the traumatizing period.
They were also joined by Diana Mahabir-Wyatt who was the Commissioner of the Commission of Enquiry into the 1990 Attempted Coup who discussed the historical impact of the event.

Sweet, sweet tnt we will never forget the horror.!! May almighty father lord continue to bless the Island.❤💛💚❣
I lived 1990 coup and that experience changed me. I felt every nerve in this interview. Respect Mr Syo and all those who stood strong. Even those who died. Thanks for life post 1990.
Thank god you lived to tell the story god is great
Still very emotional experience 😢
Very interesting. As an xttt staff I was saddened to learn that recommendations made by the commission of enquiry were not acted upon and followed by previous and current Government. It is evident from Noel's account this morning that trauma and psychological damages still exist. It is time for some form of settlement. Whether it is the state who compensate these employees or abu bakr.
July 27th 1990 the day we in Trinidad lost our "Innocence"...for the second time.
It was very sad indeed
I still remember it. I was one of the persons who were praying for all the hostages. As a matter of fact i believe the whole country was praying n almighty god heard our prayers. Praises to him
Indeed God did hear the prayers
That was history
How has our national crime rate been affected by the actions of 1990.. Did Abu Bakr unleash a pandora’s box of pure trouble and misery for us..??!!
27th July should be made a day of remembrance, not a public holiday. The time has come for our schools curriculum to include our national truth.
