  • William Kahan, winner of the Association for Computing Machinery's A.M. Turing Award, recalls his experiences with three pioneering figures in British computing: JCP Miller, Maurice Wilkes and James Wilkinson. Wilkes and Wilkinson were themselves Turing awardees. He first encountered them on a postdoctoral fellowship at Cambridge University in 1958-60.
