These folks help me keep working on trash picked stuff in my basement: www.patreon.com/wordsnwood Being factory furniture, these are kind of like the 1900 version of Ikea, right?
I've had one of these with 3 shelves for nearly 50 years without realising that it had become collectible. It has survived several moves in that time and still looks great in our living room here in France. Your work is inspiring as usual and just within my comfort zone. Thanks.
GREAT project Art. While you were not trying to "match" the modules, it's the attention to the little details that made it come out so good. Every Art video is a tutorial - thanks and now it's time to say Happy Holidays! !! !!!
@wordsnwood As usual, great project video. Your attention to details & explanations are fantastic. You are one of the VERY FEW YT'rs left that still create & put out furniture build projects & woodworking. WAY too many nowadays are posting toold reviews, how to make money, top 10 tips, ect. Thank you for continuing to produce WOODWORKING content. Tony 🇺🇸
Another good video. I especially liked your method at 18:01 of using a long board to get a crisp bend.Always something to learn from your videos. Thanks!
20:08 “ are they good enough?……you bet they are!” Amen to that. Looks really good Art. It had to be so satisfying to use repurposed material to improve a salvaged piece.
Just created a breakdown bookcase unit, making a move easy! Also allows for additional units to expand use-ability. Think this would really enhance my granddaughters storage and organization!, Art, thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Looking at that door hardware, you should be able to recreate it. I'm a woodworker myself and love when I have an opportunity to do some metal working.
Art, there is a way to make a barrister bookcase door that functions the same way with only a router and a few metal and wooden pegs. Maybe you already know that, but I made a 5 stack case doing it that way.
Do you have any issues with the doors racking? That is what the scissor mechanism on the Globe-Wernicke brand is designed to prevent, and it works great.
Hi, I’m in Ontario Mississauga. I wonder where you got your router motor and planning to build my router table and it looks exactly what I need. Can you tell me where you got it and how much was it?

Awesome job as always. I really appreciate you talking through your thought process. Lots of little challenges to overcome.
Glad you liked it! Always fun to fix up a bit of history!

Never been much of a top-ten guy, thanks!
I watched a very useful tutorial.

Great job. Really looks good.
Great to hear, thanks! 👍

Nice work. The x-wing fighter looks good too.
Nice, antiques and rocketships.
I am a man of contrasts... 😉
Nice work, Art. You are a metalworker now 👍
let's not get ahead of ourselves! 😉

Art, thanks for the inspiration!!!!
That's why they were popular a century ago! glad you liked it.
Very nice Job Art! I know exactly what you mean, "Is it exact? No, but it is good enough." No one but the entire internet will know!
And we're not talking... 😉 thanks!

so far, I'm not minding that it is "just" an open shelf, but I might change my mind in future, Thanks!

@@Wordsnwood They definitely don't function as smoothly as one with the hardware. But, like you, I wasn't willing to fork out the dough.
Maybe a little honey oak stain and a coat of shellac for the interior walls?
True, I could do that. thanks!

It's a Porter Cable 690, nothing fancy. bought quite a while ago.
@ Thanks I enjoy your videos
Instead of aluminum, brass shim stock from the hobby shop would have aged to match exactly. Just saying. :)
Probably a good idea, but is that available in any decent thickness?
@@Wordsnwood - 'shim' might have been a bad choice - you can get 1" strips at just about any thickness - AVF Hobbies on Dundas should stock them.
