There is no resistance for my brand new knock sensor, but it will produce voltage when knock using metal, and it makes voltage drop about 2.5V dc when supply 5V dc.
@@PalataoArmyYou don’t supply voltage, it’s piezoelectric output comes from the imbedded crystal that has physical properties that create about .25 volts until the engine produces a knock that triggers the pressure on the crystal to produce small amounts of linear voltage from within the sensor. The stronger the knock, the higher the voltage spikes.
So you had an engine code that you knock sensor was bad, but when you tested it, it showed that it was good, so your problem was not your knock sensor.
It depends, piezoelectric or resonance type of knock sensor. Most important, it produce certain frequency at certain rpm, check your manual and it should be not shorted.
Before you spend money ask me about well yust delete the light and wait after 100 miles and before you delete the light change the gas you know what I mean no yunk in the same gas in that easy to make
Well i ended up on this video because just swaped sensor but still faultcode. Did this test on the old and new one. Can't get a voltage reading. But when I drive the car I can livestream date from knocksensor. It's bouncing between 0,12-1volt Can anyone without a check engine light on tell me what there sensor is giving? Would be really helpful
I dont think so. These are very sensitive to vibration and knocking. Even in the car, nothing knocks the knock sensor. It just picks up the knocking from the engine block.
@@balaofcanadamost piezoelectric knock sensor pickup knocking frequency between 6-9khz, depends on the car manufacturer. So if the engine rattling is not in any those range, it will not give cel.
Could be wiring, connection between harness and sensor or bad sensor. It's not always the sensor. I'm assuming if you worked on cars you'd know this...
I was under the impression that there should be resistance. The fact that there wasn't is confirmation that your knock sensor is bad?

@@waverider5751 is it gonna be damaged if I have tested the resistance on any of piezo or resonance type of knock sensor?
There's no follow-up regarding whether a new knock sensor fixed the problem.... ?

Even though it test OK, but it was throwing g the code as it's worn out.
Yeah, once they throw a code, they’re toast.
Bad fuel or ignition. Misfires! Do not buy generic parts! Especially the knock sensors! Been there, done that! OEM ONLY!
Thank you, great work
After 400,000 K you changed it?
Two types..of sensor ..its single pin and twu pin..for instance two wires cut or eat the rat.. how to know to correct connection pin.
It's good 👍
I think the sensor need to read resistance

did you figure it out? i have code p0325 even after replacing my knock sensor
Same here.Any updates ?
test wrong, you should knock itself not tha table

It’s the wire
Fortunately the wire is good
Tons of extra talking that just lengthens this video for no reason.
Yup.....I agree. 🙂
That thing looks like shit😂
That's right.....20 year old shit 😀
too much talk
If you have a code? Put in a new sensor! WTF?
