what is like this? they were unique. people always compare them to VU but it's more like what velvet underground could have evolved into if they didn't self-destruct (that is not a knock on VU, i love them also). You might look for Indian Summer by Luna if you like this song. Sorry you never got to see them, the shows were even better than they look here.
I just heard this song on the "alt/underground station". I love it. And they were around since early 90's? Why cant top 40 go away and play music like this and other lesser known bands. Top 40 sucks so bad. Thank you you tube.
to ed-u-me-cate all y'all...tom verlaine (television founder & guitarist, also plays on the studio version of this song...a wonderful album entitled "penthouse"...fabulous song and album...there's also a great version of "bonnie & clyde" w/dean & stereolab front-woman/genius laetitia sadier...dean wareham is truly a legend of the indie-circuits...his galaxie 500/luna/britta career goes unheralded...but so does much of the great unheard music of our lives...i implore u to all explore the unplayed
for those who doesn't know the title refers to Suicide's concert in Brussels in the 70's that lasted only 23 minutes and turned into the riot and gave a name to their 1978 album "23 minutes over Brussels". Suicide is a NYC electonic protopunk duo. A legend basically...
saw luna for the first time at ferris booth hall (columbia's student union) c. 1995. blew me away. followed the band to many gigs after that, including a summer night in prospect park when they pulled out a cover of 'sweet child of mine' that was for the ages. i miss 'new york's house band', but all things must change. ps: check out 'tell me that you miss me' a documentary film (from which this clip is taken?) about luna's last tour.
The end credits to a wonderful film. Possibly the best music doc ever made - certainly the best film ever made about touring. Just to be a wise a**: I liked the guitar jam better the first time - when it was called Marquee Moon!
Just had a cryptic dream ...wrote down "23 minutes" after I woke up . Came here , among other places . Stones coming up out of the ground, balls of food or pebbles, 23 , that's how many there were (23) and that's what it is '23' , so now , the strange dream has a song for itself. A Discordian dream ?.... or is William S. Burroughs talking to my dream from the other side ? (^8
I love this band..saw them over 10 times in NYC
Best closing credits in the history of motion pictures.
One of my all time favorite guitar solos comes from this performance. Sean is the MAN!
there's too many special people to thank...
Luna went down in history as a band that were never recognized for their greatness until it is was too late...
Deans first bank Galax 500 too. So underrated.
They're alive. They're not working factory jobs. Why is it "too late?"
@@danhedonia well, I made that comment 12 years ago after they broke up! I’m very glad they are still together and touring regularly!!
proud to say i saw this performance live..(the version you hear)
Thanks so much for uploading this. Priceless. I just shared it on Yer Doin Great's Facebook page for the ABC's of Rock. Cheers.
Oh that's great! Cheers from Argentina.
I love this song to death and thereafter.... love their whole live album too... great band!!

holy shit, so good.
2:48 sideshow by the seashore riff in the solo !
@Kaseta72 Yup. Dean talks about Suicide and a bunch of other NYC bands circa 1977 (Television, Richard Hell, Talking Heads, etc.). He was a big fan!
so fuckin good
Great rendition of that tune. Also, Britta is so freakin hot!
"23 minutes in Brussels", why?
Well, because it rhymes with tussle.
Amazing ;-)
@AudioHollic this is extremely late, but i'd recommend Galaxie 500, Television, the Velvet Underground, the Feelies, and the Dream Syndicate
Awesome song. Love Dean! Is there a version without all the titles? Holy cow ... that is irritating.

It makes sense once you've watched the entire film.

Is this particular recording available on CD?
Me too!
No, this particular one is from the "Tell Me Do You Miss Me" documentary DVD but there is a similar version on the CD called "Live" from 2000.
@silverhammermax : No... this is more like a Television jam.
Brussel rhymes with Tussel. Doncha know.
