    I love your hot colours segment with the two salvias and the dahlia. Mine is a completely hot colours garden, and I find Salvia Roman Road rather tempting!

      MY father bought a Salvia 'Roman Red' last year and took a few cuttings, has them dotted about his back garden, lovely Salvias 👍

      Thanks for this, just had a read and we too are great christo fans. His book Colour for the Adventurous Gardener has been on our bookshelf for years and we regularly dip into it for a good read. We also have Sarah Raven books too. Thanks for sharing 👍

    Great tour and your garden is looking so nice. Those plants from Tatton are super and what gorgeous colours. I like this time of the year when the Rudbeckias and Heleniums start flowering plus the Phlox. Sounds like you had a good trip to Scampston gardens. I'd love a walled garden. I think I've seen some of Piet Oudolph's work as he's the man who is keen on grasses. I must admit that when we were at David Austin's place there seemed to be an awful lot of deadheading required and like you, if I had my secateurs I'd be wanting to cut them off. xxx

    • @MadAboutGardening
      @MadAboutGardening  3 місяці тому +1

      The vibrant plants from Tatton are my favourites Wendy. We will have to figure out how to get them through the winter so we have them next year as well. It's my favourite time too because all of the hot colours are starting to come out and the borders are nice and full. Paul wanted to visit scampton for so long and it was lovely. We bought a monarda and an achillea which are also in the walled garden. We love Piet Oudolf's planting combinations and use of grasses. I'm glad that you enjoyed David Austin's, but I think the gardeners need to keep up with deadheading a bit more. It was shocking on our visit about 10 years ago or more. Hope you have a great week Wendy xxxxxx

    Looking wonderful again and nice to see Ech. Ritro got a mention this time 😜Liatris spicata, how many plants do you have in the tub? Just bought one this week and I think they're awesome 😍 Eryngiums are looking fantastic and hope the new 'Lapis Blue' settles in well, mine has been no problem and is under partial cover with my dedicated watering but it was outside with no cover at Elizabeths so yours should be fine 😀Everything looking great, thank you very much for the tour. You both take care and happy gardening 😀👍

      Thanks so much, yes Paul reminded me about the Echinops this time 😀 I think there were 12 liatris corms in the pot, they are amazing and the bees have been all over them since they started flowering 🐝 The new Eryngium was bought at tatton and it looks great. Another one for our collection! Thanks again and have a great week 😀

      @@MadAboutGardening You shouldn't need to be reminded about a wonderful plant as is the Ech Ritro but due to the volume/quantity/variety of plants in your garden, I'll excuse you, no detention this time young man 😜
      Corms, oh, interesting as I bought my plant for £14.99. Had a quick read after online and I have options of division etc. Tempted to buy another this year but I'll study and keep my options open for next year. Yes, E.Lapis Blue are gorgeous and deep in colour 👍 Take care and make the most of your time off, thank you 😀👍

      @MadAboutGardening  3 місяці тому +1

      @martianleaderrichy1520 I know! I don't know how I missed it last time 🫢 The liatris corms were about £6 for 12 and you get the flowers the same year as planting. We had problems growing the eryngium planum as they are slug prone but the spiky ones are tough as old boots so the more we have of those the better 😀. Have a great week 😀👌

      @@MadAboutGardening Just watched your Liatris vlog👍 I thought mine was a 'Kobold' but it's not, it's 'Purple' like yours, so, off I went to my GC and got a 'Kobold' and other stuff 😎❤ The error happened because they were both side by side and I saw this very tall rocket of a plant with bees all over it so I thought 'Your mine!'. I'm really impressed at how strong the stems are. Corms would of been a cheaper option had I of known early in the year but I guess it's what you get for "instant impact". I'm not complaining 😀 From memory. I think my 'Purple' has 4 or 5 stems and my 'Kobold' has at least 9, maybe 10 😍Not re potted yet, still in 3L pots but the other vlog had info helpful to me, thank you. Not had slug issues with my Eryngiums, maybe they just prefer my other plants 🤣 Don't work too hard, take care, thank you 😀👍

      @MadAboutGardening  3 місяці тому +1

      @martianleaderrichy1520 We love Liatris for the fact that they are covered in bees. You're not doing bad if you have 9 stems on yours as each of my corms has only the one stem this year. Glad the other video was useful 👌 Weather here overcast today and some showers around. Hopefully enough to save us watering later 😀. Take care Richy 😀 👍

    You have a fantastic range of perenials in your garden. Very enjoyable to watch. I planted seeds for Statice and they have come on great. Do you know about them. Just wondering do they survive in ground for winter.

    • @MadAboutGardening
      @MadAboutGardening  3 місяці тому

      We've never been able to grow Statice longer than the one year as they are usually seen off with the UK winter. We love perennials 😀 Thanks for watching.

    Omg, purple loosestrife or lythrum is absolutely illegal to forage or plant in Illinois and Michigan both. I don't know about Wisconsin but I do know that if you get caught planting that or growing that, the plant police are coming for you. It is listed as a noxious illegal plant although I do think it's beautiful but I know not to attempt to plant it. Just like I would never ever plant persicaria ever again. I planted in my garden about 10 years ago and it started popping up everywhere, I'm still pulling it out. It's awful

    • @MadAboutGardening
      @MadAboutGardening  3 місяці тому +1

      @mifasola1 I absolutely 💯 love persicaria and would never be without it 😀 We grow the cultivars and not the species 🙂 Such amazing and valuable plants in gardens here in the UK.
