    I really enjoyed watching this video and it inspires me to live in the Philippines. I currently live in the UK born and raised and in a dead end job. 48 years old and looking to escape for a better life. I've met a filipino woman and we plan to meet, we also plan a life together so I hope things go well. So my mind now is set to retire and invest in the Philippines now.

    last comment, I promise. I really enjoyed this video. You pair need to do more joint videos. Not only are you a great double act but you are inspirational, together . I am Bryan's age, being 75 and also do not look my age, so I am constantly told! You pair have renewed my hope of being able to live my final years there. Love the Philippines. Love the people. Love the culture. Love the climate (which is virtually identical to Darwin, where I live).

Right now I'm in my early stages of forex/binary trading online and once I hit my goal consistently in profit I will be making the move there. I love hearing other ex pats experiences. It's so motivational. Keep it up fellas

I am still doing my research to start a photography business there. Like you have said having a Filapina wife helps a lot. That is another goal...lol I look forward to hearing from you and even meeting you and Peter someday

    There are now a lot of channels, vlogs and UA-camrs promoting life in Philippines. This is cool. I own a house there, myself. I moved back to Australia to enable my filipina wife and (step)daughter to attain citizenship here. Their longer-term futures may depend on having this flexibility. I, of course, prefer Philippines. I bought land in a subdivision of Angeles City and built a house larger than I needed. I have friends staying there whilst I facilitate the aforementioned citizenship extension. If the restrictions caused by the virus are lifted tomorrow, I would be booking my ticket back to A.C. Even though I gave alcohol a miss a few years ago (I finally accepted it was a better to drink coconut water or kamboocha) I still miss the bars. I would regularly play pub pool and meet other blokes around the table. The bar girls get to know you quickly and grasp the fundamentals of your character faster than you might think. In my experience the girls are pleasant and as welcoming as you might desire. I choose to buy occasional drinks for some girls- to cover my time in the bar- and they learned that I was not looking to extend any relationship we might strike up. This vlog offers solid advice. As I said earlier: there are many advisors on UA-cam. Some paint an overly rosy picture suggesting an 'escape to paradise' type of adventure. Others seem more gloomy and probably reflect a recent bad experience by the presenter. Remember that you cannot leave your own limitations behind by climbing on a aeroplane. Sort yourself out first, know what you would prefer, be wary and give it a go only after you understand that the issues and peccadilloes that punctuate your life in your home country will travel with you wherever you go. Philippines does not make you whole. If you leave Australia, or Canada, or U.K. or Europe, or U.S. with a fucked up attitude, you'll touch down in Manila pretty much the same. No country has a monopoly on arseholes, deadbeats and scoundrels. They're everywhere- even in the Philippines where some of my mates reckon they abound. Most rat-bags I encounter in Angeles City are foreign rat-bags. The locals, with some exceptions, are genuinely decent folk. Go with your eyes wide open. Stay as long as you can without overburdening your credit card and meet people. Pool tables are a great facilitator for making acquaintances and making friends- you're never alone if you have a pool stick and are happy to play anyone. Keep smiling, don't be a Cheap-Charlie- buy the girls a fucking drink and they'll look after you. All up Philippines is great. Getting back there is my problem. Staying there may require thinking outside the box.

    Isn't the $10 flat annual fee only for retired military veterans? For others it's $360/year. And also, I read that the discount for over 60 years old is only for Philippine citizens - foreigners don't get the discount.

    Cows in Australia, in Europe, America, and especially in the Philippines, are grass fed. But the cows in Philippines just simply don't have the same type of meat, meaning tougher. And NO they are absolutely not used in the fields. They just have always been that way... so try bulalo, or bulalo steak.

    Thanks so much for this vlog. Good o you both. Just a question about home ownership: foreigners are able to by and own condos, but cannot own land and building (single family homes, etc.). A Filipino spouse can own, just not the foreigner. So just being careful about accuracy of information. That said, I am buying and renovating a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom 90 square meters condo In Pasig (metro Manila) with my fiance.

    • @asianight9188

      Tourist visa, get extensions and every now and then you have to leave for a couple of days which is a great time for a quick holiday

    • @Fitzaism
      @Fitzaism 3 роки тому

      @@asianight9188 Thanks for the info. I did think about that option. I thought you could not work if on a tourist visa? Or, is it a case of self employed (shares trading) does not count as working? I am 75 years old and still work full time so can easily claim the Aussie pension. However, Centrelink make life difficult for anyone who wants to be on the age pension AND be making money (by whatever means). I would prefer to retire but be self funded. The other consideration is, at my age, it's fairly obvious my time is limited in this world. Quite a dilemma. Love the Philippines though and I really, really do want to be there. As Peter says, you cannot afford to live in this country (Australia), unless you enjoy being a pauper on the Age Pension. Australia has some of the dumbest politicians in the world, imo. We need a non means tested age pension, like the UK. I admire Duterte and the way he goes about his job as President.

  • @hannabnj
    @hannabnj 3 роки тому

    Nice Video! A couple of points that I can help clarify - I have researched the SRRV Visa - The cost varies depending on your age and whether you can prove an outside pension. I my case I’m 58 with no pension so I must deposit USD 20,000 in a Philippines Bank. This amount is blocked for as long as you have the Visa. However you can use the 20,000 for a property investment after 6 months. This amount is attached to the Title Deed. If you stop the visa or sell the property, you must move the 20K back to the bank. There are several other benefits with this visa. I believe the whole process is straight forward and a good way to get a permanent visa in a beautiful country!

    How does the Philippines' chronic political instability figure into your long range calculations? You have a current president who, fearing an ICC indictment, is trying somehow to hang onto power, and, if that isn't enough, you have the Chinese who obviously have their sights set on the Philippine islands itching for a fight with the US. It could all happen with many expats going all in with the Phils.
    I always have taken the position if a person can't afford to leave it all behind don't invest in the Phils. What would happen if you had to abandon your investment in the Phils and return to your home country. Would it wreck you financially? I think this is all a necessary discussion before going all in on the Philippines.
