- yeah, I know I could've shortened this by a couple minutes or so... thought I'd might as well use the whole 10 min.
If you've never seen this movie in it's entirety then I'd strongly recommend you do not watch another youtube clip of Thief. Just get the movie and watch it... you won't regret it. - Фільми й анімація
Cant ger more realistic than this movie. Michael Mann did his homework on this picture. A TRUE CLASSIC .Never gets old.
James Caan was so very, very good at what he did. This is an amazing piece of cinema.
A beautiful and honest scene. No overly sentimental fluff. Just two people who have had a rough and lonely life trying to make a connection.
WHY don't we see more of Tuesday Weld. Incredible!
For some reason, I have always loved the little creamer exchange - the way the waitress sort of crabbily says "What's wrong with it?" and the way Frank puts the emphasis on the "cottage" in cottage cheese ("What's wrong with it? It's COTTAGE cheese!" Just so normal and natural, as others have said below. So in keeping with his character. Glad I got to eat in one of those crazy toll-stop overpass diners before they got rid of them!
Caan is from the Bronx. I'm from Brooklyn. We naturally tawk dat way.
arguably the best 10 minutes of dialogue in an American film ever; and the scriptwriters give it to 2 actors who can make this seem so real, that, as an audience, we feel awkward + guilty as if we are eavesdropping on an intimate reality we shouldn't really be a party to: in one word; Magic
That Michael Mann, he really loves a diner scene, doesn't he?
This is one of the most realistic and gut-wrenching scenes of someone describing his time in prison of any noir film.
Rest In Peace Mr James Caan, 3/26/1940 - 7/6/2022 thank you for so many years of great movies 🎥 you will be missed. ♥️♥️Condolences to your family ♥️♥️
Great scene. It doesn't get much more genuine than this. As much as I enjoy the connection between Neil and Eady in Heat (which I saw before Thief), this is just on another level.
He should have won an oscar for this scene or at least nominated
This is one of the best movies of the 80s.
What a marvelous scene! Tuesday Weld is an incredible actress. James Caan is amazing, too.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC MOVIE. JAMES CAAN AT HIS BEST, HIS BEST MOVIE, HIS BEST PERFORMANCE!
"Standing on THE corner OF Bogota AND Columbia." Love how Mann rolls right through the dialogue gaffe and keeps going. In a real conversation people don't always enunciate properly or use perfect grammar. I'm sure this was not lost on the Master.
I love Tuesday underatwed actress for sure
His description of hard prison time is realistic.

Some of what he described was written about by Jack Henry Abbot in his letters from prison book called 'The Belly of the Beast'.
Robert Prosky was perfect for his role ad a fence. Brilliant work.
I love how sweet he is to her when asking him to be with him.
I watched this movie many years ago, and this is the only scene I can remember.
The scene at the adoption agency stands out for me too.
Charming girl 😊
Great scene but AWESOME film.....Director, Actors, ACTING, fucking ace film.....Proper
What’s wrong with it? It’s cottage cheese. Love the delivery of that line!
I'm not a big fan of this movie, but this scene is played beautifully. I love Tuesday Weld so much.
Greatest marriage proposal ever uttered!
GREAT WRITING !!!
You could have made it longer too. I wouldn't have minded. It's a great movie, not to mention there's Tuesday Weld.
You are Walking Time !

I could not resist his offer! I'd go with him in a minute.
