Great vid dude! Sweet lens! I’m with you on flares too. I feel like it’s been overdone now and it was always a serious “imperfection”. I feel like this lens is great but it doesn’t have that wow factor that vintage glass has. Great video dude.
Pretty sweet little lens. Just used it to shoot a short film along with the 50mm on the XT4 and was really happy with the way it turned out. Used plenty of diffusion which helped as they are fairly sharp. Thanks for the video.
That's awesome that there are options for de-squeezing that make this more convenient. Really enjoyed your breakdown of the use cases and examples from Spielberg to AOC
I've been thinking of trying the Sirui lenses out for a while now. This is making me want to try them out even more, although I really wish they had that more distinct oval bokeh.
I didnt mention it in the video cuz I know people are passionate about it but thats another thing I find distracting with anamorphic. those ovals. just looks old and shitty IMO.
If you record 4K DCI you can get a 2:5 aspect ratio. If you are going to be exporting to 2560x1080 or 5120x2160, you will still have some room to crop, which helps with that inconsistent squeeze factor.
it’s subtle and it doesn’t distract as much as a strong anamorphic bokeh typically looks. it’s kind of a nice hybrid lens between spherical and anamorphic actually!
Man how I love your style. Great video, sir. I sold my moment anamorphic because it seemed useless when you only get to shoot flowers in your backyard... Hate yooouu 2020!!!😞
im interested with anamorphic lens, I;m planning for the 35mm and will but the fuji Xs10. sadly I heard that sirui doesn't offer 35 with fuji mount. I could get the 50mm version but with a 1.5 crop factor its gonna be 75mm just a bit a tele side. I could get sent e mount a6600 just to have the 35 but the ibis on the Sony is really not meant for video. Patrick thanks for this video. I have mixed feelings when it comes to anamorphic as I want to purchase the Panasonic S5 and Panasonic Gh5s and use the anamorphic mode without having to always use anamorphic lenses as in intend to use the following prime lenses from Youngnou, 50mm,35mm and 85mm as they are all very reasonably priced at like 80-150 UK pounds each on average. Granted they will be in the Nikon F mount so I will use adapters which will be like 30 UK pounds each in pricing. And to be honest I look at the Panasonic S5 as Panasonic's equivalent to the Sony A7C, Nikon Z5, Canon RP and Canon 90D aswell as the Canon C100. So yeah that is the plan. Again thanks. Stay blessed and spirited and safe. PEACE
@@impatrickt I’m just hoping it’s worth the investment. I’ve been wanting to get my little Pocket 4k & Sirui 50mm setup, for a couple years now. @@impatrickt You mean 3 mins of very shallow information and your only existing reference is the Sirui 24mm. Dude, "Is Anamorphic Overrated?" is such a broad title to begin with.
