Hi! I have a tip for wick trimming when you’re using the lantern setup as a light source. Trim the wick so that it’s the shape of a mountain peak
/\ and it will burn brighter and clearer. Also start with a very clean glass globe and cool and clean it at least once a day if it’s used on a daily basis.
Yes. Trimming the wick makes for a more efficient and even burn/flame. Remove irregularities, fraying or stray strings. I get much better results by trimming to the shape of where the wick exits the adjustment mechanism, almost always an arc.
✨ Mary Lamb ✨
Many thanks for your tip. I'll bet it burns longer that way too.
Now that I can afford and do my disabled self. Love it.
Agreed. It's affordable. I was just adding kerosene lanterns and looking online for used yesterday after seeing the other video. This is reasonable cost for all I needed to get done still.
Great Video. I collect pedestal oil lamps/lanterns and used to get them at auctions, CL, FB Marketplace, yard sales, etc for approx $10-20. The cooker you made made me realize I need to keep my wife from taking recycled cans to the bin. Thanks for teaching people.
What a good idea and also space saving as well. I was brought up with no electricity but we had those lights for light. We also had live candles on our Christmas tree and very few houses were burned from them. Those were the good old days and now I am almost 80 I think how good everything was then to what is going on today. You are brill.
I made an alcohol heater last year by using a large soup can, wire grate and metal bowl. Just had to place draft holes in them and place a small can inside for tip over safety. Rubbing alcohol in the smaller can with a small piece of tissue paper for a wick and I have light, heat and a way to cook.
Been there done that, 28 years in the military taught me to be prepared for anything. been prepping ever since
Very cool! Resourceful!
Even if ya don't have the glass top - in a pinch ya can still use the tin can to protect the flame.
I really enjoy your videos. I will be ordering one of these wick things from Amazon. Your videos on heaters and lights got me making some. Please keep sharing, you are awesome! The cooking videos are great too. Thank you!
Same here. I really liked that video testing heating with the Crisco candles. It's great to have several options. I reused my Oui yogurt jars to make some and put away....and keep extra cans crisco for refills later. Also got a small solar lantern that has crank handle as well. Now I am looking at the UCO candles--hard to decide which one is better but sorta leaning towards the 3 candle option.. Love that these are USA made.
Do you know the name of it so I could also look on Amazon for it?
😮👏🏻 Awesome! Another project to add to my list 😁 I made a few of the Crisco lamps and just in time - our power was out for 11 hours due to scheduled maintenance (pole replacement). I had one in the kitchen, another in a bathroom and the other in the living room; on the fireplace mantle. I only used my head lamp for a few minutes at a time because those candles worked so well 👍🏻. I added essential oils to 2 of the candles; lavender in one and rose & lemongrass in the other. The scent wasn’t strong enough to smell while burning so, w/ the next ones, I’ll be adding 6-10 drops instead of 3 ☺️ I love your videos - I’ve learned so much in the last several months. Thank you & a big hug, to you and your wife❣️ God bless you & your family❣️👊🏻
8:07 thank you for having a heart for the welfare of others. God will reward you abundantly for your helping others to stay safe and warm in an emergency.
If you were the one who thought of using a can on an oil lamp - GENIUS!!! The best thing is I have all these things; thanks!!!
I have never seen anyone else boil over or cook over a kerosene light- can’t imagine I’m the only one that has ever thought of it-
But ya what a great method!!
The wick and collar from the jars is fantastic. Easy and inexpensive. Great for storage. Versitile. Another great video. Very clear and concise! Thanks!
How much heat dose that heater put out? I would love to see some tests on how big of a room it will heat and how warm dose it actually get the room and how long it takes. Great video.
Thanks- it will put out the equivalent as a reg. Kerosene lantern
Great Idea Riverside Man!!! I'm gonna add this to my collection too!! I think I may need several heating options the way things are looking!! This is much easier to carry in case I have to bounce! LOL!!:)) Thank You so much!! (heart)
Word lol
Yup - things be looking Not so good from a lot of different angles these days
Wow that sno is actually boiling! Well done!
My wife and I are retired (fixed income) This year I took some of our savings money and paid off my pickup truck, paid off what was owed on a storage shed and paid two young people to repair the roof of my barn. We owe nothing now. BUT...as food, electricity and gas prices rise,
IT HURTS.
My grandparents had oil lamps and I remember them from when I was a child. Gives much 'warmer' light than electricity. I guess they went out of fashion as people were sold the 'electricity is safer and a more stable supply straight in to your home' etc. I think it's a good idea to look at ways to become less dependable on just 1 source whether that's mains gas or electric in case there's a disruption in the supply or to save money as the utilities prices have risen very sharply recently.
You are correct with that comment, I agree, thank you so much for watching our channel
I grew up in the house for use when our power was out whether hurricane or snow. And wood stove..Don't think I appreciated these as much as I do now. And my husband is Egyptian--he was a kid when village he lived in outside of Cairo even got electricity--and erratic then but didn't have that (or phone line until he was about 7-8 yrs old). It's good to have reminder on how easy kerosene lanterns can be ❤️
Thank you for helping my family be prepared for winter ❄️ I am learning so much from you. I am so happy I can actually afford to make this and it will save us this winter cuz I'm in the city and I have no other way to cook or have heat. Thank you!!! God Bless you and your sweet family. 💙
This small cooker would be ideal after the SHTF for reconstituting freeze dried or powdered food or for cooking single serving beans or rice when there is no more electric. Thanx for the great idea ! 😉👍
Might want to recomend jb welding this little rig to a metal plate as a base for stability. It would REALLY suck to accidentally knock that sticker over and burn your house down! But this is really a great idea, thanks!
Amazing!! Thank you.
I found those wicks at my local hardware store in the camping section...2 roll package for 8.99...the fuel was 10.00...good deal for my shtf pack 😀 I already had the cook pot and the jar with wicklid from my old kit...keep these videos coming friend...always good for reminders 😀

Great idea...yes, we have a Bimart and Walmart...I'm gonna get this ready. We already had this emergency on Nov 20th, 2022 ..8 degree weather and power went out, wish I would have had this on hand.
This is great. Thank you. Blessings to all ❤
This is Amazing!!! I have been looking at lamps couldn’t believe how expensive they were. This is Great 👍
You are an Amazing Young Man!! Thank you so very much!! Laura in Southern Indiana USA 🇺🇸
Outstanding bro. Thanks.

Thank you. That screw-on lamp gadget is cool! I'm definately going to get a few and put them in our emergency preps. I would have never known they existed, if you hadn't made this video. Thanks again!
What an awesome idea, I will be checking into getting these items .
Love it. Thank you for the great idea. Just bought my set on Amazon. kudos
I think it’s a great 👍 idea and I shared it too with my husband
Being frugal helps you be generous to help community, and first and most importantly, have SHTF money. Thank you, Cohen. Happy New Year ❤️🎉

Nice !!!
Perfect quick setup !
Really appreciate sharing all those tips and specially the perspective you added to my field of view !
This is amazing! Thank you so much! Time is coming in the near future where we are going to need these things.
That is cool my friend.
Great invention! For cooking I think I'd have a clean paint can half full of sand or kitty litter to lower the jar into before lighting, to keep it stable. (heaping the sand around the jar)
Fantastic, I got it all except
The lamp- wick.
BRILLIANT! I am SO grateful to you for helping us find ways to make, plan, and prep without spending a fortune. I will definitely be making several of these very soon. Thanks again for ALL that you do for us

Thank you for sharing these inexpensive heat sources! These are within my budget😊😊
Very cool idea, ty
Just ordered everything for these! Last winter in Colorado we had a few outages and for some stupid reason our house doesn't have a fireplace, only a gas central heat so we had some cold days and nights! This will be handy for sure, Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this! I’m ordering the screw-on top & some oil too! I do have some lanterns already, but I really wanna make one that I can cook on too. I really do like your videos, very educational for me. Thank you again!
(PS… I’ve been using the terra-cotta/tea light heaters to keep warm & it helps so much! 💞👍🏽🤗
Gostei da ideia da latinha, guardo várias garrafas e vidros também👍🏽
You're a nice guy and that comes out very clearly in your videos. Thanks for your ideas and creativity. I wish I knew you - it'd be a lot of fun!

No buy Mart in UK. No any mart ..lol
Jees we really need some help in UK man..we don't have shit here.
Love your content, I hope you're on rumble too.
I'm going to put this together to go camping.
This isn’t a replacement for the kerosene heater. It’s nice. But it’ll hardly heat a closet.
