    Havel is the best thing that happened to Czechoslovakia. Mečiar is the worst thing that happened to Slovakia.

      Havel caused enormous economic damage to the Slovak economy by canceling the large arms industry in Slovakia, in which thousands of people lost their jobs.

      @@slovakpatriot5433 They had to cancel a lot of useless industry put in place by the communists. With the dissolution of the Soviet union, who were gonna pay for it? The Slovaks had bigger problems coming in the form of massive corruption during Mečiar and beyond.
      Besides, every opinion poll made in both countries, a majority of the populations think they shouldn't have parted.

    He is still a hero of Czech Republic, he is a symbol of democracy, love and humanity. He represents THE GOOD of this country, people still admire him and remember him, especially now in these difficult times. This document has lot of facts missing and doesn't show him in a good light. Czech people wish to have at the castle somebody like this right now.

    Like a small branch flowing downstream in a brook, truth occasionally comes to a stop against a rock or some other structure.But then, it comes loose and on it's merry way once again.His imprisonment represented such a temporary arrest in progress.We are indebted to his ideas and insights which will live on in those who truly care for the truth.

      Why, because they are probably from the Czech republic. I am Czech and I was teen when the so called Velvet revolution happened in 1989 and now when I look back after 30 years I think Vaclav Havel is the worst president and not only that. He is presented as hero and moral person, do some research on him and you will find out he was not.

    Let me try to answer the question posed in the interview, re: the reason Havel could not keep Czechia and Slovakia united. Czechia is majority non-religious, whereas Slovakia is majority Roman Catholic. Roman Catholic leaders within Europe have historically been intolerant not just of Jews but of everyone non-Catholic--hence, the rebellions of Jan Hus, Martin Luther, and the "Protest"ants.

      you know it was the most peacefull split ever in human history, so it was more like growing up from your parents house and moving on on your own
      and the reason of the split was more like that slovaks were always in the shadows of czechia and they just wanted to split and we all agreed on it and that was that

    • @mitzicowell
      @mitzicowell 2 роки тому +2

      Religion is always a player in a right-wing coalition. You don't have to be religious to tear your own country apart - religious fundamentalism is just part of the coalition, whether the other zombies in the coalition know it or not, or whether the religious people know they're being used. We're learning about authoritarianism in the U.S. now. too late, maybe. Eastern Europeans have been the experts for a long time. Vaclav Havel, whatever his faults, was a truly civilized man and an inspiration to us trying to hold liberal democracy together. Anyone who approves of dividing a country up needs to ask themselves, Who really wins?
