Aiyuk would simply cost too much not only in terms of pay but in trade costs. With Scary Terry & Doctson already on the payroll Washington has other priorities to consider. Especially OL & DE.

Commanders DON'T want anyone on the team whose team loyalty is outshadowed by their desire for MORE money. This whole thing reflects on Aiyuk's character.
Commanders DON'T want anyone on the team at TOP prices the FIRST year of a rebuild. It is in the TARGET year they would hire a one-year player at a top price. Teams are rebuilt with drafted and underpriced players.
Commanders are NOT going to pay Aiyuk what the 49ers were unwilling to pay him. 49ers aren't stupid.
Commanders DON'T want to block the time they have to develop receivers. You make a team great by developing lower-priced players. You run out of cash FAST if you try manning it with top-priced players.
Commanders need an OT much more than they need a WR.
Commanders are looking for opportunities now when we have the cuts to 53-man rosters.
Daniels' opinion on Aiyuk is irrelevant and he should NOT be trying to get his friends more money unless he is willing to bankroll it.
