If they return him false, they dishonor the commandment of the Lord and become thieves.
When I heard this, I wept bitterly. Seeing my grief, he asked:
- What are you crying about?
“I don’t know, sir, if I can be saved.
- Why?
“Because never in my life, sir, have I uttered a truthful word, but I have always spoken treacherously and presented falsehood as truth before everyone, and no one has rebuked me, because they trusted my word. How can I live when I acted in such a way? ... "
