A country should not be changing rules like this on the fly.
They should stick to the rules

A country does what is favorable to their economy. Indian’s contribute to their economy as highly skilled immigrants.

Funny coz your country does that all the time my friend 😊 not saying it’s right or wrong but immigration laws can be changed at any time in any country depending on how it benefits them. There is no such things as stick to same laws when it comes to immigration.

We have to give American jobs to American workers first.

Yup. I know an American tech worker who finds, over and over again, that the job he wants is for foreigners only. We need a register of people like him who must be hired at above market rates before anyone from India or China gets a work visa.

When it comes to a lot of things the USA loves simplifying rules, however when it comes to H1-B they made it confusing and complex. Simple thing to do is extend the period to 12 months instead of the current 2 months for laid off people. 🇺🇸 😊

Work is drying up in world over loaded with 8,100 milion surpllus population. So naturally rules has to toughen. Ecologically countrys running on Phantom carrying capacities. Even creating moneis out of thin air, producing enterprenuers to compelxfy existing process, paying huge artifically created monies to expatriate laber, is now challenged in Former rich nations liek USa-can-aus-nz. we live in small island of 150 m Km2 on universe .Gone r days when europeans land in NY and turn citizens over night.

As a non-immigrant in the United States, I respect American policies and do not oppose any refugee initiatives. I came to the U.S. as an H1B holder, but unfortunately, my wife cannot work until I receive a green card. However, if we apply for asylum, we could both get Social Security Numbers and work for any company within six to eight months. It's important to encourage legal pathways for everyone.

Agree with you . Their country their rules . We have to obey law . If you don’t like the laws come out of that country

you can apply for refugee if you need it, anyone can do it, it doesn't mean they will get it, because you have to prove you need it and that's not easy. Many of the applicants will be rejected, the percentage of rejections is high.

    Very shallow piece of information
Not expected of a brand like NDTV
This was almost like talking on Paan or Tea shop expressing general opinions .

The former CEO of Goldman Sachs had met with PM Modi and mentioned to him that Goldman could hire the best Indians in NY for their most challenging roles (Strats, as they are called in GS) but the best Chinese return to their country and don't want to work for Goldman Sachs. And he said this was a problem for PM Modi/India that most of the best Indians don't want to return to their country of birth. The same thing is happening over 100's of top companies in the US. Either Indians are not as attached to their country as the Chinese or India is not providing the right opportunities for them. Either way this is a massive opportunity missed for India. This is what Indian intellectuals and government should be thinking about and NOT how to get H1B visas into the US!!

      I see 2 reasons why.
      1. Most Indians being fluent in English (thanks to the prevalence of “Catholic” or “Jesuit” or IB schools) find it easier to assimilate in the US than the 1st Gen Chinese (those who rent born in US.
      2. The severe lack of opportunities in India and the huge pay-scale gap (bigger than the US-China pay-scale gap) makes the US more attractive.
The first wont change but as the pay-scale gap narrows to where Indians get about half in India compared to what they get in the US the demand to go to the US will drop. It is another matter that for most Indians going to the US post 2015-16, getting an employment based Resident Alien card will be a dream. Waiting 10-20-30 years or more without knowing your status is making the US less attractive. Very few want to put their lives on hold for 10+ years.
Additionally as the quality of Indian educational institutes improves, Indians might not think it viable to leave India even for higher degrees unless they have a scholarship from a Top 20/25 university (aka MIT, Stanford, Duke, Chicago, Caltech, Rice, Vanderbilt, WUSTL, Georgia Tech, Rice, Ann Arbor MI, NYU etc and the 8 “Ivies”).

No it will not the policies are more favorable now than before to help Indians find a job without leaving the country .
