Redemption did Mr.Dark SO RIGHT. You actually have what feels like a final showdown instead of him just running off, and it is executed PERFECTLY! Music fits the battle amazingly as well!
I was waiting for someone to bring up that trivia in the comments! I love that detail, Rémi Gazel’s work is just so great. It’s also interesting how the similarity is more noticeable in some parts of the Rayman by Rémi’s covers.
It’s probably the most unfortunate thing that was scrapped from the game as well as most of the story… It would have been so cool to see him back in that game with something like the Mini design (we could have got something like the edit I’ve made at 21:55).

Sure, we know what was intended to be his backstory and motives... but apparently someone at Ubisoft thought it was a better idea to cut all a that. Heck, the only reason we know he's connected to Mr. Dark in the final game is through a few drawings in the background of his office. Why they thought stripping the story to almost nothing was a good idea, I'll never be able to tell.

For real, the ost for Rayman Redemption is awsome, i played a lot of differents fangames, and Rayman Redemption is my favorite by far Seems like a real remake by the true developpers, and this game gives us a real ending for rayman 1, with a lot of content, really awsome game

I always found it funny how that theme was used for most Band Land levels and many bosses! Of course, the devs had to work with fewer tracks, but they *really* could have picked some different music sometimes lol.
I noticed that as well when I saw a Rayman GBA speedrun lately. I can probably understand that they likely emphasized Mr. Dark’s presence after the Great Protoon was stolen, but that being said, it gets kinda old really quickly.

After play Rayman Redemption, I think Mr. Dark has a lot of potential as a villain. It made me see Mr. Dark as an entity that is, as his name indicates, somewhat dark, who uses that hat and cape to be seen by others, and that his true form behind his clothing is the one that appears when end of the true boss rush. I also loved the use he gave to the protoon. I know that "a powerful object that maintains stability and in the wrong hands can be terrible" is very seen, but I love the idea and design of it, it fits very well. That's why I love Rayman Redemption, it took all the potential that he had from this game and added more things.
That also describes quite well Mr Dark in the GBC adaptation as his Redemption version took a lot of inspiration from that game, especially for his battles and his "ball form", even revealing a "true" form at the very end of both games (although it was just a part of his death animation and of the ending in Rayman GBC). Ryemanni sure made the Great Protoon far more interesting in Redemption! As much as I love the original game, it made no sense that this object was completely forgotten in the final parts of the story. It was incredibly satisfying to both see it being used by Mr Dark, thus giving him an interesting reason for stealing it in the first place (besides just causing chaos), and to have its powers being available briefly for Rayman in Redemption and ReDesigner!
I always felt that the theme of bosses being Mr or Mrs whatever should of stayed throughout the whole series, like how Mega Man had the theme of Cut Man, Blade Man etc.
An interesting idea, but it wouldn’t have suited Rayman from Rayman 2 onwards as it became vastly different. Not even the original game stuck to that rule as only Mr Sax, Mr Stone and Mr Dark are named that way, and Skops was only referred to as "Mr" in some specific occurrences like his level’s English name (while the original French version only used "Skops").
This is an extra form for Mr Dark which you fight at the end of the True Boss Rush. It’s the last challenge of the Magician which is unlocked if you found all his 40 Tokens. But be warned, it’s extremely hard to get to that secret boss since you must fight harder recoloured version of Rayman Redemption’s 21 bosses in a row…
