Cool looking wrenches! I currently have some Craftsman Mach series wrenches that have open ends with a spring loaded pin in them. As you ratchet them, the spring loaded pin pushes itself into a hole in jaw then retracts to grab fastener and works fairly well. Appears to be made by gearwrench for Craftsman.
I have seen those but always was a little worried about if they got dirty weather that little wheel would still work properly to have to give them a try sometime
Thanks for the review. The big box stores are sticking few hand tools now, so it's helpful to have reviews of what's available at the auto parts chains.
wera took this approach, but gave a notch so they could do a 30 deg swing. without it, these open ends you cant do a flip and get a fresh bite, you'll just freewheel.
Is the tension spring pretty light? If not I would thank the return action would just turn the fastener with it. Have you seen that issue or have your tried it on a fairly loose bolt? Thanks for another great video.
they are reasonably strong, not as good as a regular open end wrench but the can break most bolts. I think they would either slip or break at the pivot under heavy pressure like using an extension bar.
This entire set can be replaced w one pricy Kniplex adjustable plier. It may cost the same or slightly more but yr tool bag will difinitely be lighter.

Being able to go across points when you need to is a life safer. Makes them a lot more useful and less of a gimmick I find

The Spring is probably just right it's not too tight but if there were any looser it just wouldn't work at all
