Hey Kyle, thanks for the tutorial! I could never get the 540 kick down until I saw your tutorial and heard when you said your non-kicking leg must be bent and tucked! That was all I needed to do. Sometimes it's the little things haha. Thanks again Kyle.
The most important thing on this move is that you kick as high as you can ! Some people think that it'll be more easy when they kick low but that absolutly wrong ! You only get momentum when you kick high !
Thanks a lot. like all your tuts, this helped me fix my tornado and got me a better chance at a 540. I can't do it right now because I'm not flexible enough but daily stretching and practice and ill get it down before going back to school
I can't believe how hard this move is. I'm a second Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I've been training since I was three (14 now) but after months of trying to do this move I still can't do it. I'm able to do supposedly more complicated moves but this one still has me perplexed. I'm so used to doing tornado kicks for sparring, I just can't manage to keep my non-kicking foot tucked while in the air. I've tried doing feilongs and inside cresents and nothing seems to be working! Help me please!
Thanks, I'm trying to tuck that leg in tight. Fell on my side btw. But what I notice is that I'm barely leaning in that "sweet spot" Epic1 mentioned. Maybe I just need find it.
i just recently started decently landing my 540. took me 3 months? i kept trying to do it like jujimufu with a straight takeoff leg like i might do a parafuso. i think a parafuso is much harder, i couldnt land mine that way. i only got it after i kept my outside leg bent to take off.
Epic, your tuts on all these kicks are freaking amazing :D Is there a video with suggestions for combo kicks? Like a 540 dropping into a heel sweep etc - I for one would really appreciate something like that
I need some pointers, I am pretty flexible, but when I, try to do the 540, my leg always goes forward and out unread of up. It feels like it's being pushed down. So help if you can please, much appreciated.
hey UA-cam hey epic so when i tried the tornado kick with tow legs i did it but the legs are apart not close to there each other and when i try the 540 i just keep putting that leg down before the other one i have enough height but i just keep putting it down so any help any tips anyone
Hi Kyle I've been starting tricking a few months ago, but before i knew what it was, i naturally started with a 540 but never got how to tornado kick. Part of the reason is from having an awkward transition from the roundhouse to the hook. Any tips??
I need help on my 540 kick. Every time i try to do it, i cant seem to land on my kicking leg. I always drop my bent leg before i can land on my kicking leg. any tips?
Its been a while since I tried this but when I did my leg that I land with always tend to buckle as if its not strong enough. I weigh 233. Would that be the problem?
Thanks for the tutorial bro. It took me a while to get over the fear of falling (it took about 4 months on and off), but I think I've finally got it down.
Thank you kyle! Anyway, I am not really getting a good height as i do both my 540 and Raiz. So, am I not leaning back enough for my 540 and not leaning front and down enough for my raiz?
i have the 540 down pretty good, but someday i hope to get the sideswipe, what I've tried before is leaning back further and further with a 540, but ill keep training
I'm a beginner tricker and need some basic advice for said level of skill. Where would a good place be for me to start? I'm hoping some experienced and skilled trickers like you can help me out. Even if you could just direct me to some good articles or videos I'd greatly appreciate it. -Thanks.
Is there any sort of exercise or training to get my legs stronger for jumping? I am practicing the butterfly kick and I can do the tornado you showed because it is a move I've done in capoeira and taekwondo but I want to be able to do backflips and other jumps but I just don't seem to have the height or maybe it's technique. I can do a backflip on a trampoline or off the back bumper of a car but without that tramp or 1' boost I don't think I have the leg power/jump height.
You could do squats and jumps. You can also practice the back handspring, Valdez or the macaco. Use a mat when you practice power moves on the ground so you don't break yourself.
i just landed my first 540 today im so happy . if your struggling just go higher with your non kicking leg and then try to kick at least as high as you are . good luck!!!!
Rea1mHD I can't do a 540 spinning heel kick ... Nor front or back flip , although my weight is 60kgs and my height is 185cms , i can do a front flip but not in the street .. :( any suggestions ? but i can do 540 tornado kick
I have been struggling trying to get my kicking leg to land, because my body is so used to dropping my non-kicking leg from doing Taekwondo. Does anyone have any tips, ideas, or hints to help me overcome this tendency?
Hmm, I seem to be doing something wrong. Say i'm kicking with my right leg, My body wont allow my left leg to stay tucked and so I land after doing a 360 crescent kick. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks guys.
I agree with you that it doesnt matter about form in tricking but even so, kicks look 100% smoother if you kick with the technical part of the foot, IMHO ^^
So I have a question. I do a Tornado kick with a backflip at the same time. Is that some sort of sideswipe, or what is it? I do not really care about the name, but it would be fun to know what it is i am doing ^^
great tutorial kyle!!! i got the kick down and all but its just sometimes after doing the kick about 5 times i start feeling a bit of a sore tension on the inner thigh of my kicking leg, could it be because im not stretching enough? could you maybe tell me if thee is a way of avoiding that pain, like if i just need to stretch more or anything? anyway thanks! =)) tutorial helped a lot!
thank you epic :) i will try this before i teach school kids at gym this morning xD oh and since u mentioned flexibility drills, can u make a tutorial or a guide on some flexibility techniques of ur own and some if those variations?
How do you generate so much power when coming off of your kicking leg? I try and try but I can't seem to get enough height in order to kick and land with my kicking leg first. I always seem to land with my bent leg first. What do you think I'm doing wrong? :(
If you want more momentum then get your 360 down really well and also use your arms to get momentum. If you want more height, i recommend getting ankle weights. Get those and practice jumping and tucking your legs. It will build leg strength so you can jump higher.
Oi, I been seeing this a lot on youtube, people saying to point the foot, Is the the kicking foot, or the momentum foot that you'd point. ex: Epic's (his POV) left or right? o - o
Sideswipe is like a combination of both the raiz and the 540. The Raiz lands on the non jumping leg. 540 lands on the jumping leg. Therefore, the sideswipe starts off like a raiz but ends like a 540 (on the same leg you jumped from)
you have to make more tutorials about kicks , there aren't many of them on youtube :D and I know you're kinda addicted of making tutorials so ...;) before this tut I had a problem whit my 540 , I wanted to ask you but just by seeing your motion I see what I did wrong anyways awesome tutorial I now do sideswipes :D
Pretty cool man but you missed out on streangth and conditioning for the legs which is essential for that kick, maybe doing a horse stanse or a back leg stance for 5 min a a day to streangthen the leg muscles other wise you wont get up very high and execute it right and it would look like a lazy kick lol but you are right about how it's done and how it should be you just missed out the leg conditioning.
Hey Kyle, thanks for the tutorial! I could never get the 540 kick down until I saw your tutorial and heard when you said your non-kicking leg must be bent and tucked! That was all I needed to do. Sometimes it's the little things haha. Thanks again Kyle.

You only get momentum when you kick high !
It's called the x-tremus knee brace... does wonders for my knee... im very thankful for LP making that product because of how well it works for me.
greetings kyle love your vids
can you upload some progressions for the 540 I can do the tornado kick some help would be useful
Kyle, I keep on landing on my driving knee making it look like a tornado kick,do you have tips so I can land on my kicking leg to make it a 540?
Focus on bending your landing leg and tilt lowkey
Thanks a lot. like all your tuts, this helped me fix my tornado and got me a better chance at a 540. I can't do it right now because I'm not flexible enough but daily stretching and practice and ill get it down before going back to school
@stammesbruder The sideswipe is more of a kick because it's an inversion (like the raiz or aerial), not a flip.
I love you for updating your old tutorials!
So, essentially a Sideswipe is a hyper Raiz?
Alex Semyonov yeah
Alex PK kinda ye
Would you consider the 540 kick as a starter move (like a backflip or a B-kick?) not sure, some people say it is, some say it's not...
I love watching these videos. In fact, I love this guy's channel.
Same!
Thank you for your demonstration how to do a parafuso that was the only thing I didn't have down for freerunning thx again.
I did this today. thanks man!! isn't too hard if you going step by step.. I hope I can learn more.
bless

I have mastered the tornado kick, but I have been working on 540 for 6 months and I am sooooo close, but this really helped, and I can almost do it!
Thanks, I'm trying to tuck that leg in tight. Fell on my side btw. But what I notice is that I'm barely leaning in that "sweet spot" Epic1 mentioned. Maybe I just need find it.

I have really hard to get my legs together like the parafuso, someone that have any advice or an explanation?
I need some pointers, I am pretty flexible, but when I, try to do the 540, my leg always goes forward and out unread of up. It feels like it's being pushed down. So help if you can please, much appreciated.
Thanks for the help I've learned most of my tricks from you especially these two.
I'm a beginner, Kyle should i just do it straight? When I try, I can't get higher enough for spinning 540 and I can't do a fast spin.
hey UA-cam hey epic so when i tried the tornado kick with tow legs i did it but the legs are apart not close to there each other and when i try the 540 i just keep putting that leg down before the other one i have enough height but i just keep putting it down so any help any tips anyone

hey i just started freerunning/tricking got any tips on what i should learn first
Your Chanel is Epic!!! Please never delete your videos
What's the name of that move that looks like a sideswipe but you put down your hand?
Amazing Epic!
Still would love to see a good 360/720 precision tutorial out there.
I need help on my 540 kick. Every time i try to do it, i cant seem to land on my kicking leg. I always drop my bent leg before i can land on my kicking leg. any tips?
podrian hacer los proximos videos en español plis saludos desde chile
aprender ingles no te parece mas util?
Its been a while since I tried this but when I did my leg that I land with always tend to buckle as if its not strong enough. I weigh 233. Would that be the problem?
this is quite a dumb question but can u apply a sideswipe in a fight?
Thanks for the tutorial bro. It took me a while to get over the fear of falling (it took about 4 months on and off), but I think I've finally got it down.
can you tell me please witch marcial art he play
Hey kyle, I need help with my raiz, I posted a video response. Can you give me some help on getting it clean and inverted?
Thank you kyle!
Anyway, I am not really getting a good height as i do both my 540 and Raiz. So, am I not leaning back enough for my 540 and not leaning front and down enough for my raiz?
have you got a video on streching routines you do?
+Adham Fares ua-cam.com/video/7Gm7i31hmXw/v-deo.html
stretching is easy just run for 10 Min after do some gymnastic stretching & yoga stretching all stretching and warm up 40 Min then go for tricking
May I know the brand of your knee guard? Wanna get a good one. Thanks!
Anyway, great tutorial, definitely helped a lot!!!!
how many flips and tricks can you do?
i have the 540 down pretty good, but someday i hope to get the sideswipe, what I've tried before is leaning back further and further with a 540, but ill keep training

Hi Kyle! I was wondering if you have any tips on staying positiv besides just "staying positive"? Thanks!
i just landed my first 540 today im so happy . if your struggling just go higher with your non kicking leg and then try to kick at least as high as you are . good luck!!!!
Patricija Berus can you help me I'm trying to get the form right but it always backfires on me
Hello i'm a 1st degree taekwondo black belt player , and i can do all the kicks perfectly expect that i don't do a split etc ... does that effect it?
Maybe a little, but the two main factors are jump height and leg strength for whipping the kicking leg around really fast.
Rea1mHD I can't do a 540 spinning heel kick ... Nor front or back flip , although my weight is 60kgs and my height is 185cms , i can do a front flip but not in the street .. :( any suggestions ? but i can do 540 tornado kick
Can you still do these kicks if you can't do things like aerials (cartwheel with no hands)?
yes...1st I learned.540.. then I went on ariel cart wheel n other like 360 kick etc etc.... but u need work dame hard...
is Sideswipe a version of the Btwist and A twist?
I have been struggling trying to get my kicking leg to land, because my body is so used to dropping my non-kicking leg from doing Taekwondo. Does anyone have any tips, ideas, or hints to help me overcome this tendency?
can you do a tutorial on warming up?
no sideside is a laid back 540, and raiz is a laid back tornado kick?
Dear Epic
Can you do all the kick trick and make it in one video in slowotion?
Thank you
it's a twist since you turn around your upward angle like -->x ^y oz
it's like around your y-angle
Hey kyle i just landed both tricks, your tutorial helped me a lot
can u do a btwist s/t gainer tutorial plz
Hmm, I seem to be doing something wrong. Say i'm kicking with my right leg, My body wont allow my left leg to stay tucked and so I land after doing a 360 crescent kick. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks guys.
I can do 540s very well but my knee keeps kicking out when I land
ua-cam.com/video/OS0V1X6tUts/v-deo.html subcribe my channel
When ever I land my 540 I turn my hips to much, how can I fix that?
I agree with you that it doesnt matter about form in tricking but even so, kicks look 100% smoother if you kick with the technical part of the foot, IMHO ^^
Thanks man, I have been watching so many videos and this has helped a lot!
Is Raiz easier than the 540 kick?
nice shirt.. where you get it??
give me a prop what do i need to work on
hey kyle, is it a good idea to do a scoot right after the sideswipe to gain momentum for a cork?
If you can connect them, yes.
The 540 is about as different from the btwist as a pencil is to a paintbrush.
So I have a question. I do a Tornado kick with a backflip at the same time. Is that some sort of sideswipe, or what is it? I do not really care about the name, but it would be fun to know what it is i am doing ^^
do u still do lessons in st louis
great tutorial kyle!!! i got the kick down and all but its just sometimes after doing the kick about 5 times i start feeling a bit of a sore tension on the inner thigh of my kicking leg, could it be because im not stretching enough? could you maybe tell me if thee is a way of avoiding that pain, like if i just need to stretch more or anything? anyway thanks! =)) tutorial helped a lot!
how's that kick called where you do a tornadokick and bring your feet together?
either a parafuso or envergado or dleg :/
Feylong
Pretty sure epic answered this before but what martial art did he do?
pretty good tutorial. i was more impressed than i expected. thanks epic
thank you epic :) i will try this before i teach school kids at gym this morning xD oh and since u mentioned flexibility drills, can u make a tutorial or a guide on some flexibility techniques of ur own and some if those variations?
Good job epic
could you do a front flip tutorial ???
Could you redo your corkscrew tutorial?
Do you always wear that knee thingy?
I mean, is it forever?
is raiz and sideswipe the same trick?
How do you generate so much power when coming off of your kicking leg? I try and try but I can't seem to get enough height in order to kick and land with my kicking leg first. I always seem to land with my bent leg first. What do you think I'm doing wrong? :(
If you want more momentum then get your 360 down really well and also use your arms to get momentum. If you want more height, i recommend getting ankle weights. Get those and practice jumping and tucking your legs. It will build leg strength so you can jump higher.
Can you make a tutorial of "RollSpike".?
Hey Kyle can you do the jacknife kick? If you can do it, can you do a tutorial on it?
can u do a 2 in 1 aerial and raiz/touchdwn tutorial :)
sooo.... is the sideswipe a kick or more a flip?

Kyle umm isent u an email and i was wondering if u still do lessons in saint louis at team central??
It is really cool to see my friend Rudy's Torque Tricking shirt being worn by someone so cool lol
It's a damn good shirt! =)
*****
can you teach me how to do a back flip?
I've been looking for a video like this everywhere.
Very good tutorial, I think the best you have made
Quick tip for the name of the "double leg with raiz setup" its called Envergado :)
can you do the wall flip pls
It's nice that you call it a parafuso, from capoeira. Please call a Double leg a Envergado, It's named after the first person to ever do the movement
its weird I can do a tornado kick and a sideswipe but I can't 540 kick
OutcastWrider i can do tornado and 540 but not the sidewipe
OutcastWrider i can do tornado and 540 but not the sidewipe
I can do a tornado kick and.....yeah thats pretty much it.
I cant even tornado kick
I'm going to need your help with learning 540 kick
540 kick is not same as butterfly twist?
Oi, I been seeing this a lot on youtube, people saying to point the foot,
Is the the kicking foot, or the momentum foot that you'd point.
ex: Epic's (his POV) left or right? o - o
What is the difference between de sideswipe and the raiz?
JC Machado I guess that is the landind foot, right?
Sideswipe is like a combination of both the raiz and the 540. The Raiz lands on the non jumping leg. 540 lands on the jumping leg. Therefore, the sideswipe starts off like a raiz but ends like a 540 (on the same leg you jumped from)
Also another way to think of it, raiz = laid back tornado kick sideswipe= laid back 540 kick
can you do an elasticity (don't know if I wrote that right) tutorial :D
I'm worried about my knee popping to the side when I land, I have a knee injury....
@epic1 You should do a snapu.
Heyy epic, i want to learn the sideswipe with no 540 and raiz is it possible xD?
you have to make more tutorials about kicks , there aren't many of them on youtube :D and I know you're kinda addicted of making tutorials so ...;) before this tut I had a problem whit my 540 , I wanted to ask you but just by seeing your motion I see what I did wrong anyways awesome tutorial I now do sideswipes :D
