Just one of those things .. You need decent footwear. Personally as I am primarily hiking and slopping around in water and mud with my dog, Harley. I lean toward more of a waterproof Hiking shoe/boot. Good comparison and these shoes are perfect for around the campsite and things you are enjoying. Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up

Crocs are great. They were just too bulky for me to carry on my pack. They are comfortable though.

Oct. 9th Friday will spend the night at State Park then start hike Saturday morning. I think that's the plan 2 nights on the trail because he has to pick up Nancy Monday morning plus I have to be back to work Monday.

I don’t always use camp shoes but when I do I prefer Dos Equis...oh wait wrong item 🤓
I use zero shoes z strap barefoot running sandal. Keep in mind I don’t run in sandals. But they are thin and durable. If I had to pair them with socks I could hike in them too. But I rarely bring them. Only on longer trips when I think my feet will be more wet than dry. Great review 👍🏻

Thanks so much Misha! Yeah, I have always use camp shoes. The Crocs are just too bulky. Those aerated shoes have been great. I’m thinking is will use these shoes for kayaking mostly. I'm interested to see what you think after using them a bit. As far as you know, how are the sizes ranging on these? I mean for example, I typically wear 9.5-10.5 (men's, obviously 😜) in sneakers and such depending on brand, my hiking boots are 9.5 but my Sketchers sneaker/every day shoes are 10.5 (I'm always cautious of ordering any shoes online for that exact reason)...thoughts on that? Great video, brother, I've added a pair to my Cart (Amazon) so that while you're testing them, I won't forget about them or have trouble finding them again. Happy Sunday, my friend 😊✌
What’s up my friend! Sorry, I haven’t responded until now, I had a crazy week. So, I got the size 11. I am a 10.5 in hiking shoes. But, I wanted a little breathing room in these. They works perfectly. But, that is always the issues when you order off Amazon. But, you can always return them. I would suggest at least a half size up. Appreciate you watching. Crow✌️

What's the cost of these shoes. I just busted my River shoes this past weekend at myrtle beach and I'm in the market for a pair. I like the closed in design, my old ones always got rocks in thru the holes, that was always a pet peeve of mine with those. I used the Ozark trail ones. Also I think I heard you mention Altra, I have a friend that has the hookup on those so I may check into those also. Thanks Crow 👍

Initial concern is the "drain holes"...if its moist ground/grass ect...would that mean instant wet sock?
I haven’t had an issue with that. But, I can see that might be an issue if too much wetness. I love these shoes. I carry them on all my hikes. Crow✌️
Water shoes/camp shoes make all the difference on a long hike. They make for happy feet!

The lace loops are super cheap plastic that’s stitched to the fabric. I don’t expect these to last long. I’ve been looking for ultralight camp shoes for off-road motorcycle camping. They need to pack small and possibly allow me to hike out should my motorcycle break down deep in the woods. Not sure these would hold up for a few miles of hiking.
Good point. I can say that I have had mine for a year or so, I use them in kayaking and they have held up very well. Not sure about motorcycling. But, it is a concern. ✌️
Just took them for a 2 mile "hike" around the neighborhood. They did fine for barefoot shoes. They were slippery on wet payment which makes me wonder about wet rocks on a river crossing. Otherwise, they did well. Let the testing continue.

I’m like you (so is Hubby). We like to remove our boots after a hike or a road trip (kind of a Canadian thing to do to dip our feet in rivers or lakes). 😜. I got a pair for my Hubby after watching one of your vids on the shoes you wear at camp. He likes it because of his diabetes. It keeps his feet aired and he can just soak them. Also easy to shower in them while camping. I got a pair for me to use while showering at work in the mine (to avoid catching nail fungus, etc). I love it. I can just put them on, walk in the shower and not worry.

This past summer I was hiking a local trail leading to a river, but the drought kept the water levels at a minimum. I thought if I had water shoes I would hike down the river a ways ... Great video topic. My first camp/river crossing shoes were Nike Free Runs that were super worn out and they were perfect. Wlonce they died and recieved a viking funeral I jump around different styles till I settled on water shoes for camp shoes. I will try that brand out based on this. We got to get together for something. Haven't kayaked in awhile.

Interesting shoes. They look sturdy. I doubt I'll ever give up my crocs. 😄 They're just too nice to my feet after a good day on trail to pass up. They definitely take up space though. Compactibility is a great option. 👍👍

Thanks for the review Crow 👍I love my crocs for paddling trips. They're on my feet the whole time, so the size and weight don't matter so much 😉. I like that the crocs dry so quickly (esp with a wipe down), so they double as a camp shoe once I've slipped a pair of socks on. They've also got a good supportive sole... my feet don't go so well in those very flexible soled shoes all day. That said, around camp after a hike, they look like a good option.

@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING yeah shoes are like cars... it's a very personal choice! The packability and the grippy sole of those new shoes are definitely their selling points. They're also pretty lightweight. I like that bugs can't get into them as easily to... I've had so many bites from ants at camp on my feet! Might be worth a look for next hiking season... it's lovely to be able to change your shoes at the end of a long day's walking. It's the one thing I've never even considered the weight of...I used crocs on my recent hike, mainly for cooler nights to wear socks with at night. I like my thongs generally.
As a side note I found myself an older fiberglass kayak I'm interested in. I just need to get it for the right price as it needs a little work.
Also I've been contacted by a bike computer company to test and review one of their computers. We'll see how that goes. They said they wanted a positive review...lol. I told them they'd get an honest one...lol. They're still sending it to me 🤣.
