I want to personally thank you for the jig idea. It was simple and worked great. I used scrap plywood and 2x4 ends. I couldn’t have been happier with it.

I made one of these jigs this weekend and it was well worth the time. I assembled 12 boxes and they all were perfectly square. This has never happened before for me using any other assembly method. I staple the finger joints with a narrow crown stapler then take the strap off right away. I use the lowest grade pine boxes because they are cheapest and they were perfect once assembled. Thanks for teaching me this wonderful trick!

What do you seal the hive would with? Also, do you only seal them on the inside?

Glue only for cedar - it’s a beautiful, fragrant wood but extremely prone to splitting and breaking
