      She really is! Just keep using soothing words and a very gentle touch while grooming. You might want to break it into a few mini sessions a day so she can rest and get used to less time. I am getting my kitten used to being bathed, and I try to just do a quick, but gentle bath.

    Thank you for getting back to me. Thanks for your help and concern. I think I will get a second opinion on my hearing, you helped to encourage me to do so. Also you have such beautiful Yorkies I would love mine to have playtime with some little ones like yours. My Lucy is 4.8 pounds and 5 years old. She is good around other dogs, but all of them are a good bit larger than her. She has never been with another Yorkshire Terrier. Your advice on grooming is great. Lucy has a knee that slides out and than goes back plus she does have the collapse trachea at times my groomer knows all these issues so that is good. She only has a few clients. She is like family. I do the same combing routine you do everyday with Lucy. It Works! God Bless you. Thank you again for your suggestion.

      You are wonderful ❤️❤️. Patience is the key for getting pups used to grooming. 95 percent massage and petting with a few strokes of the comb mixed in can be a great way to start. That way they look forward to grooming and the love and connection that they get during that time :). You most certainly will succeed. 🌈

    firstly i wanna say your babies are beautiful. we have a 5 year old yorkie and she is our world she is the best thing ever. great breed and would never have any other breed. were very lucky as we live in the uk in manchester which isnt that far from yorkshire!! loved this vid but there is not a chance my yorkie would allow me to do this type of groom on her!!! she loves a bath but hates being brushed and groomed and as for putting bands in her hair...... not a chance she goes wild when we have tried it and does not stop till she has ripped them out. and if thats not succesfull for her she becomes so depressed and will not move or do anything till its out !! so your lucky. we have to keep her face shorter because of the fact she wont let us put bands in. but we wouldnt have her any other way she is amazing. x and 3 kisses to your babies xxx

      Hi there, thank you so much for watching my videos. Believe it or not one of my best friends actually grew up in Yorkshire. I love that you pay attention to what your little girl wants, and you go with that. Every Yorkshire terrier is so different, and I think it’s wonderful to honor their personalities. Alfie definitely fought me for a while on the ponytail… But he’s gotten used to it.

    Thanks for this! You mentioned exactly what I was trying to figure out... that the 7.5" combs are too big for yorkies faces. Is it the 4.5" topline that you use, and just for the face, or do you use the same size for the body? I suspect the 4.5" is too fine for the body... Have you ever tried any of the tear stain combs? I get my Biewer next week, and I'm in low-key panic mode for being prepared... I love watching you with the pups, and I appreciate your story of not maintaining the coat at first, for first pup. I can relate, I think about the little dog we had decades ago, did we EVER groom him? Yikes... Thanks!

    Was she always so calm for the groom? My 6 month old is quite fussy when being groomed. He has a shorter body now but still long hair on the head and he still gets tiny knots on his belly, which is really hard to brush as his skin is so thin.
    He's gotten better but I was wondering how long it took to get to this point with your dogs. I just can't imagine he would just lie on his back like that. He loves a belly rub and a cuddle but does not appreciate being stuck in one place

    Few weeks ago I bought a yorkie as well. He is such a cutie!
    but something bothers me. He is 3 months old and has the tiniest face ever. He looks a little bit like shi tsu/cat
    He is 100% yourkshire but his nose is very close to the face. Because of that feature his hair around the nose closing his eyes completely.
    It looks cute but I'm worried that it could damage his eyes. Should I just wait the hair to become longer, so they would fall down naturally, or maybe I should do something right now?

    I need some advice. I have had 2 yorkies, both passed. But I had no issues grooming or bathing them. But I recently got a 9 month old little girl. She was kept in a playpen for 12 hours a day and I honestly don't think she was touched very much at all. She has done great and now she doesn't want to leave my side or my lap :D, but she was horribly matted. She is TERRIFIED of the scissors, and obviously clippers aren't an option. I've tried to cut many of the mattes out but she desperately needs a groom. Any tips on how I can help her to not be absolutely terrified?

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  3 роки тому +3

      My godmother always said: slow and steady wins the race, and I reference her quote frequently. Great job working on the mats and getting them out. I would do the bare minimum for now as you get her to trust and be used to being touched. Maybe tire her out with play a great deal, and just work on getting her used to being near scissors for a few minutes a day. Eventually you can work up to a few baby snips a day.
