Welcome to this virtual walk in Vienna, recorded in 4K HDR for the best viewing quality.
This video was recorded in Vienna Schönbrunn. Schönbrunner Park and the palace are located in Vienna's 13th district (Hietzing).
Schönbrunn is one of Vienna's cadastral communities. The cadastral community with an area of 220.55 hectares corresponds to Schönbrunn Palace and Palace Park (including Gloriette, Tiergarten and the other gardens in this area) as well as the Maria Theresa Barracks.
The walk does not start in a typically touristy way at the Schloss Schönbrunn, but at one of the upper entrances to the Gloriette, which is mainly used by residents. The park is free and open all year round!
The Gloriette was built in 1775 according to plans by the aforementioned architect as an early classical colonnaded building on the hilltop. The Gloirette forms the appropriate conclusion to the baroque palace complex. The Gloriette currently has a classic café with an Italian terrace that invites you to linger.
As already written, the walk started in the upper area, the aim is to walk to the Schönbrunn Palace.
Schönbrunn Palace in its current form initially goes back to a residence planned by and for Emperor Joseph I, which Empress Maria Theresa later had converted into a comfortable summer residence for her family in the 18th century. The castle has been there since 1892.
I recommend you take a tour of Schloss Schönbrunn, it is very beautiful.
The weather, well, you can see it. pretty autumnal I would say. Rather cool, windy, no sun, so very little going on in the park.

Visited here on my last visit to Vienna just last week. Beautiful weather ice cream in the gloriette, walking the grounds and a tour of schonbrunn. It was fabulous.
Oh yes Schonbrunn park is one of the best in Europe. Walking around this beautiful park in the winter season with snow on the ground is like seeing a fairytale come to life right before your eyes. Its history and peaceful magical atmosphere is 2nd to none. This place is memorable and never forgotten even many years after you visit it :o)
