    Of course, if you're a collector of ALL Disney tapes, it never really ends. You can collect the original "white box" series of tapes from the early 80s, you can collect all of their live action films in general (many of which were released in a regular sleeve rather than a clamshell), you can collect all the VHS releases of the Disney Afternoon shows, you can collect all the compilations of classic Disney shorts, the True Life Adventures, the TV movies that aired on ABC in the 90s, movies from Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures, and on and on. Fun!

    Wow, that's a great collection! I'm an avid Disney fan myself and bought a lot of those VHS tapes when I was a kid (I'm 47 now). I still have all of them, but I don't watch them anymore as I have all the Disney films on DVD/BluRay. I can remember some of those Black Diamond Classics new on the store shelves in the shrink wrap! :) Just some info: The reason that Lady & the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty were released on the wide screen VHS tapes was not a gimmick…they were filmed that way originally so the wide screen versions are actually true to what Disney intended. Back in the 1950s they called it "Technirama 70" because it was shot on 70mm film. The old VHS tapes from the late 1980s/early 1990s (or that are full screen) are what are called "Pan and Scan" which means they are actually cutting off huge portions of the sides to fit it onto the old 4:3 screen format. Now thankfully with widescreen TVs they don't have to do that anymore! :)

    Hey Sixty Formula,
    Sorry I didn't comment earlier, great vid, btw. The Cartoon Classics has a total of about 23 VHS's with 3 of them not released in the States. "Cartoon Bonanza 1," through "Cartoon Bonanza 3" and "Jiminy Cricket's Fabulous Fables, Fairy Tales & Other Wonderful Stories" being the titles that were not released here in the States, the "Fabulous Fables" was the last VHS to be released in c. 1986. After they were finished, they released them on LaserDisc as well as another wave on LaserDisc, than released a second wave as well on the same medium. They went back to VHS, and released an entire second wave of shorts between 1987 and 1992. All in all, both LaserDisc and VHS releases stopped in 1992 for this Classics collection.

    Great collection you got there! I've been collecting Disney videos since 2012 when I was in middle school. I have all of the Classics, most of the Masterpiece Collection (excluding the two widescreen releases which I have never been able to find), almost all of the Gold Classic Collection (still looking for Saludos Amigos and an opened copy of Make Mine Music), the second wave of Cartoon Classics (in cardboard covers, also a few Limited Gold Editions), several films from the Walt Disney Film Classics, various films and compilations from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and various tapes from current and former Disney subsidiaries, including Touchstone, DiC, and Hollywood Pictures, as well as a few acquired films like Star Wars. Recently, I've been getting DVDs of Disney's current animated films to add to my collection and I've also been collecting films that are part of the National Film Registry, so Disney videos are a little on the back burner, but I still visit thrift stores and keep hawk eyes on films I need to add. I'd also recommend looking at videos from Imaxination1980; he was the inspiration that got me into collecting in the first place. Sorry for the long winded comment, but yeah, great collection you got!

    There were 2 other Disney Black Diamond videos that were sold in a black clamshell, which were Dumbo and The Sword In The Stone

    Just started collecting last week. If you are still active mind giving a little advice? Mainly looking for a base cost on clam-shell quality and what I "should" pay if damaged vs near mint/unopened. Recently picked about 70 that were near mint for $3 each 😳 and want to see if I fudged up 😂. Roughly 13 were sealed so that I assumed made up for the cost? Any advice helps I appreciate it.

    Cool collection. I have that Alice in Wonderland VHS you speak of (which you don't have). The one I have is the cover with the Walt Disney's (walt disney font) CLASSIC on the front cover. And the best part of it is, it's Brand New Sealed. :) Have a good day! If you're interested in it, let me know!

    Hi Sixty Formula, Very informative video on Disney VHS. I have Masterpiece Collection Snow White 1524 (unopened),Lion King 2977, Pocahontas 5741. The Fox and the Hound 2014, Aladdin 1662, 101 Dalmatians 1203 all in mint condition. If I wanted to sell them, what are my best options. Thanks

    Notice that earlier copies of the Masterpiece Collection VHS of Pocahontas have the 1989 Walt Disney Classics logo oin the screen, if they are printed on some dates from December 13, to December 21, 1995, however, a few copies, even if they are early, still have the Masterpiece Collection logo. What is the print date on your copy of Pocahontas?

    Lady and the Tramp & The Little Mermaid both got Platinum Edition VHS tapes, though they were Disney Movie Club exclusives, so it's hard to find.

    Have you ever ran into a Peter Pan with a gold label on the tape? It’s just a gold label that says Peter Pan and some other stuff, nothing about Disney.

    How much can you sell it for

    • @SixtyFormula
      @SixtyFormula  5 років тому +1

      Probably like 20k

    • @silvin8033
      @silvin8033 5 років тому +1

      Sixty Formula Sorry to correct you but it would probably sell for 500-2k because even a huge collection of padded clamshell Disney vhs tapes (the 1980s Disney tapes) is selling for only 6500 and those are way rarer. Even though that was a good deal, it would probs still sell for only 10-20k if the deal was average. Also, no one even bought it yet.
