If you like animal pens and you're not careful, you'll end up with a very expensive SIDE-grade.
UPDATE 1/24/16: Upgrading my NA farmhouse using the diagonal/diamond formation I am able to use all 4 corners for large animal pens. 25 clicks by my mouse scroll (potato line and outline). You can visualize the outline by following the steps in this thread: forums.archeage...

Would've never thought to use a potato seedling to line it up diagonally (I've always placed my thatched and upgraded thatched diagonally). Hate that the upgraded thatched doesn't give you the same border that the normal thatched has in order to get a perfect diamond. Some of my 3 upgraded thatched are better placed than others.

+Fox Fires Yeah, same thing. 3 corners can be used to their fullest, but the back one cannot (due to the water barrel jutting out so far). Still love all 3 of my upgraded thatched though. The 50 seed planters are OP.
lol I know, right. Planting was fun when the game started, then became a pain. I like the fast, easy 50 seed beds.

if u rotate it and count the ticks that it moves, it's 9 ticks, that is precisely 45 degrees
how? 9 ticks of mouse? and its ok for put 3 pens? or how many ticks of mouse we need?
thanks for the tip - and yes AA is very much a surprise filled adventure - that usually cost gold and effort and time - love the game though - one of the best ever - basically you will be punished if you dont know or find out exactly what you are doing and think about it before you act. quick question - did you have to re-build to get it the you wanted or had you checked before?

If I only do trees (and/or treelots), seedbundles, and maybe sharpwind drills, would the normal squared orientation work?
Also, I noticed the mats for remodeling the thatched has different values, is that a change for 2.5 or is that because you already had an upgraded house down?
+Pendantix , I tried to put duck cages around the upgraded default square orientation (no house rotation), and I found they would only fit on primarily 2 sides of the house. The remaining sides would be able to hold yata/cows.
even the basic thatched should be placed on a angle
yup - built a thatched in auroria only for radiant archeum trees and the water drill - those wont fit unless on angle - did not know that and was *(^%^£$ off good to know now though.
