    M3 still proprietary on Zigbee and mostly still controlled in matter. Have you tested Edge or actually disconnected it from the internet. It not done yet. I rarenly buy "future" features. It supports Hue bulbs but not Hue motion sensors. Only supports certain brands and products. That is really not matter compliant.

      It supports hue motion sensors
      Don't listen to influencers who don't update their content, they have unlocked third party support a few days ago
      Better check Paul Hibbert for example

      Yeah other videos are out of date due to last minute updates. That's why I show SwitchBot Hub integration working over Matter.
      If you look at 3:30 I list the other device types that are supposed to work now.
      I tested the SwitchBot Bot, which is technically seen as a switch or light over Matter.

      But yes, still proprietary on zigbee sadly!
      Regarding the Internet...yes. at 8:25 I show that my hubs are offline in the app (due to being on 4G instead of WIFI) and yes the light still turns on with Thread contact Sensor.

    Any information on linking Smartthings to the m3?

    Great vid as always. The IR listening feature is interesting but presumably this means the hub would need to be in the same room as the device you are controlling and visible enough to pick up / listen to the IR commands (which would limit how useful this would be in practice i think)

    • @lets-automate
      @lets-automate  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah that's the downside with IR.
      I have a Broadlink which does RF as well as IR and that's handy because it can work from other rooms for RF devices.

    In the start of your clip but you never showed it during your clip and mentioning the devices it can connect to but not the name of the product like for example eve door and window etc

    Did you have issues sing switchbot to the Aqara app? I keep getting an unable to add item message which is very frustrating

    • @lets-automate
      @lets-automate  4 місяці тому

      Hi! The only issue I had is that the first time I tried I didn't put the hub into Pairing mode.
      You have to press the on and off button on the Hub 2 for 15 seconds until the screen goes off which puts it into Matter Pairing mode.
      I was then able to add to Aqara by going to the plus, add manually, select Matter Pairing code instead of the default aqara Pairing code.
      Once switchbot hub was added I just had to make sure the child devices in the switchbot app were added as secondary devices, which is the thing you have to do to expose a device to Matter.
      Note it only works for some devices type at the moment, I.e. switchbot bot. The Lock etc will show in Aqara too but yoy can't control those device types yet. Hopefully Aqara will add support for more device types soon.

    Your AC might be supported. Mine was not on the list, but I made it work by trying different manufacturers & one of them finally worked (it was Blue Star for me).

    • @lets-automate
      @lets-automate  4 місяці тому

      I think you're probably right! I hhave 2 of the same AC with different brand names on them.
      I tried to find the underlying brand on the device but couldn't see anything. Perhaps I'll go through them like you did and see if one works!

    Maybe more believable if it didn't say "includes paid promotion".

    • @lets-automate
      @lets-automate  4 місяці тому +1

      I was sent the product but was not paid anything, but UA-cam doesn’t have an option for saying that. Some UA-camrs choose to not tick that box.It would not have changed my opinion if I was paid. I do like Aqara products, which is why I asked them to send it to me.

    • @videolan
      @videolan 4 місяці тому

      @@lets-automate Some people say exactly that. "I was sent this product but the makers had no say on this video/review. The views expressed are my own honest opinion".

    is there a dashboard and pc ui

    • @lets-automate
      @lets-automate  4 місяці тому

      Good question.
      Their Aqara App has quite customizable dashboards where you can add device "cards" and move them around. On an iPad or something that would be quite handy.
      But no, sadly I don't think there isn't any sort of web browser version. Because it can work offline the hub itself would need to host a Web server, which I don't think it does.
      Apple Home is limited in a similar way really. Needs to be an app.

    Marc, I know you are based in the UK, but you have a US audience also. Just want to let you know that the little flash paid promotion in the corner of the screen, is a huge FTC (same as your Competition and Markets Authority) regulation issue on sponsored (in any manner - including free stuff) videos. The regulations clearly state that you need to both verbally state and prominent show that is a sponsored video. I do not want to see your credibility ruined, get demonitized, or have one of these trade organizations fine you. This is currently a major sh*tstorm in the US for some creators and some companies trying to hide promotional videos. That is illegal.

      Hi Gerry, I appreciate your comment.
      I do mention that Aqara sent me the product, but I do not put anything on the screen.
      The other US UA-camrs I watch don't seem to do any more than I do really. Do you have a good example of a big US UA-camr in this space doing it correctly so that I could take some inspiration on how to include going forwards? Thanks.

    lol your clip doesn’t correspond with your title… it’s obvious that you just wanted to have people watch your clip. All you said here is still what other UA-cam presenters says.

      I show it connecting to the SwitchBot ecosystem, which is another Matter Bridge.
      Also, at 3:30 I mention about it connecting to about 7 other device types from 3rd parties.
      These things weren't possible at launch and therefore weren't in other videos, so I am not sure what you mean.

    • @AndrewDee
      @AndrewDee 4 місяці тому +1

      No man other presenters say that it doesn't support third party devices although it does
      So this video is more up to date
