That is from a horizontal load?

H Mike, great videos. Just a heads up that your joint at level 2 is out of balance. The moment in the beam should be 120kNm not 140kNm. (50 + 70 to match the column moments)

Hi Alex, Yes, you are right. I have added an ERROR! comment to the description - hopefully, this may help others. Thank you, Mike

Hi Mike, I'm working through a similar problem to this. I was wondering if my multistorey frame had fixed supports at the bottom, would those ground floor columns then have points of contra-flexure also?

Hi Caitlin, Great question and yes, you seem to be understanding this correctly, Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for your videos. They have been very helpful. Would it be possible to do a video on the deflection of multi storey frames?

@@mikebather I have found several papers and books that give methods, but they have not be satisfactory as yet - probably an error on my part though. For my dissertation in the next coming academic year I am studying tall buildings. I am going to use SAP2000 for it, though I want to do some preliminary analysis to validate my computer model.

@@Scott111188 Hi again, I would be tempted to get advice straight from the horse's mouth and speak to someone practising in industry right now. What do they do in practice? In my experience, structural engineers are a very helpful bunch. This would improve the linkeage between your dissertation and industry and relate your work to current practices, hope this helps, Mike
