Sadly being too squishy made boss killing impossible for a low reflex guy like me who cannot dodge anything : - multiple bosses or bosses that spawn adds, your totems shoot all over the place and your dps is almost 0 because you all shotgunning - Invincible phases bosses. Worst was Uber Elder where my totems will often target the invincible boss - Totem placement can be tricky. Too close to the boss and it won't trigger 2nd form of Ice spear. Too far and the boss will just dodge the projectiles. - too many map mods are unmanageable: hexproof, reflect ele damage, life regen etc. Overall had an amazing league start and sanctum runs with this build but going to try something on the more tanky side now.
Great guide! I know it’s not the focus but if I did want to build more defenses in and sacrifice dps, can you advise where? I’m pretty happy with even 50mil dps :)
Awesome evolution since league start. Couple things of note, the anointment can vary: Mark the Prey (early), Discipline of Slaughter (Charge Stacking), and Heart of Ice (Cold Pen). Couple things I found helpful dealing with low effective HP, Forbidden Flame / Flesh - Time of Need. Use arcane cloak like you would molten shell, and resist the urge to spam totems once you have them out while mapping. The freezing pulse coverage is massive and creates a nearly~ impenetrable wall, even on low budget.
I know this is super late but I’ll add on, it’s really easy to get a really good resist ring by farming double influenced rings through metamorph and then rolling them until you get two resist unveils. Then you can just craft a resist suffix and metacraft suffixes can’t be changed and chaos spam good prefixes.
I rolled into your Ice Spear build after realizing my league starter just wasn't going to be able to do the Sanctum and on the advice of my husband (who was playing it at the time). I've enjoyed it so far, even though there were points along the way where this really struggled in maps with certain content until I was able to pick up a few more nodes. (Like Harbingers, Delirium and Breach.) It wasn't that big of a deal since I would just switch characters when needed. I 'm still low mid-range with a lot of room for improvement. I just had the Ice Spear enchant drop on a rare helmet and have gotten a bit more currency to make better upgrades so I'm excited to see what can be done to become more of a DPS machine. I'm not complaining, this build does what it says it does on bosses. It can be done, even when not really optimized, just know you're going to die a few times. I don't mind switching gems from mapping to bossing so that hasn't really been an issue, nor has the "cast totems and then run like a chicken back the way you've come" play style. My husband rolled into Shock Wave totems and we are darn near unstoppable when together on Maven invites or other "spicy" content. Since playing together is something we enjoy doing, it's really nice to have two builds that play off of each other so well. I wouldn't recommend trying to seriously delve with this build, it's just too easy to get overwhelmed in the dark. A short run to a Delve Boss, sure....a more serious exploration, use something better suited to the depths. Thanks for the build and for coming back to it to provide an overview of the "uber" version of it.
Great guides, always love your minions builds but we should be a little more realistic with pricing here. I know the prices for everything haven't inflated THAT much in twelve hours. Four non-rare items in your 80-100div PoB are 114div alone if anyone wants anything like what you have. Which if we're being realistic people want exactly what you have in your PoB to exactly recreate it, that's just a PoE fact. So if we're being realistic the prices for each PoB would probably roughly be doubled.
On your gear there are two areas where you can actually get cold resist capped. On your boots you have fire & lightning resist crafted, but if you craft cold & lightning you’ll still be fire capped and you’ll fill out the cold resist. You also can harvest lightning to cold on your ring to get cold capped.
It gives you nothing as you cannot have less than four, so if your max=min then IC cannot consume any of the charges. You have to invest in increasing end. charges maximum to benefit from this.
Don't try this at home kids. It is difficult build. FP clear speed is awesome but not enough damage. If you switch to IS then you should care about second form. Not easy!

I am looking at the 200 div pob, and i don't get the devotion it's suposed to have, pob shows 80 devotion while you have 110, and I don't seem to get what's wrong.
First of all a big compliment to you for the guilds. I have to say it's one of the best league starter builds I've ever played. Even if I don't really like totems. The starter variant is absolutely crazy for what you have to invest. with just 1-2 div up in T16 maps inc. all Pinnacal bosses oh boy. Yes, the build is unfortunately extremely squischi but if you get into the playsty and it learns to accept that you get one shot every now and then, it's a top tier build. best build i've ever played im at 360mil myself, was looking to try to max even more for fun and your vid was what i needed, you might wanna add that with sanctum if you got a very good sanctified relic, you should buy an invocation either ancestral bond or minion instability (with militant faith it becomes inner conviction) to free yourself an extra passive points and they dont cost to much either, like 1 div for ancestral bond, you could buy mind over matter but they are a lot more pricey. Also if you want to go easily to lv 100 go do five ways very ez way to max lv your character. great vid
for the militant faith i can really understand the way you try the jewel before buying it. i tried to filter it with pob but.. still cant have a good one not affecting specific point
@@MorganWahbi there is a site to help find what effect your timeless jewel do around the passive tree but i dont like it, I usually just edit the number on pob to see what passive nodes changes. When i say number im talking about the amount between 2000 and 10000, but since von doesnt really go for the cold damage in the upper tree or the frenzy charge, you just need to input the stats that you want in pob trade which are totem damage per devotion and elemental damage per devotion if my memory is right. Than you just look at the jewels and fiddle with the numbers to see how it affects your tree, its really trial and error. Also for the devotion its supposed to show on your stats bar on the left

Heatshiver. in the 600m dps build? yeah you're using hypothermia so you can technically freeze bosses even though they cant have action speed below a certain amount. they still have the freeze tag. heatshiver boosts this builds dps from 600m to well over 900m. Why does no one use this over powered helmet? you can even get +1 max power charge and use flammability over enhance on the staff for more dps boost however slight it is, i'd suggest +1 max power and increased effect of cold ailments for corrupts. but with that much damage output the cold ailment effect dosent really matter. its also a 1c item and good corrupts at most are 1 divine, so screw getting that god tier rare. just buy a heatshiver lol

I checked price on all the items. Need 500 divine to build it if you are buying it from trade market. people jack up the price because this build is popular now. Farming your own items is the best. 6 weeks away from league ending. this league is already dying in 4 weeks. Regardless, it's a nice build.
I also returned to the freezing pulse totems after getting poison SRS to lvl 97 / dot cap. The instant no ramp dps and full screen shattering just feels too good.
I did make one icespear totem in order to finish my last 2 sanctum challenges, spent about 120 div reaching 400M dps. Since it’s just for 2 challenges I didn’t put much effort into it, but it still feels absolutely comfortable at blasting sanctums and Uber bosses. It’s completely brain dead gameplay, just put down totems at bosses and they instantly evaporate. I’d say it’s not a perfect mapping build cuz it doesn’t move as fast and is pretty squishy u can die every now and then. Highly recommended for people who wanna efficiently run sanctum challenges.👍

I love Ice builds, so thanks for posting this! So, Thanks to a few lucky drops & help from a buddy of mine, i've been using your "End Game Setup" of this with the 1h+Atziri's Mirror combo + one or two things on this setup, and have been wrecking shop with it so far. Though i do have some questions about the build and some items? I've been using "Bitterdream, Shadow Scepter" as my 1h, and it's been putting in some pretty good numbers with all of the different Ice Supports it has on it. But would a different 1h of some kind be a better idea though for more damage? In the video above, you mentioned putting up some Shorts about how to craft some of the things in it. Umm...where are those? lol. I would totally try crafting that amulet and some of the other things mentioned. And finally, since trying to get a "Sublime Vision" is DEFINITELY out of my price range (since they're going for 50+ Div atm, doubt i could get one even by current league end in April)...and i would love to switch to that staff...would i need like...150+ curse reduction on my gear in order to try the Staff setup? Or something else? Though i'm at lvl 90, and according to PoB (which i think i have everything set right in it) i'm doing around 5~6mil dps with everything so far, i definitely feel like i could be doing WAY more, but im not really sure how. My question for noobs, is how in the hell do you know which timeless militant jewel to get, Ok I found them listed with ele and totem damage, but whats with the numbers listed? How do we know if it will change the passives or not like you said not to? I dont want to spend 5 divines to find out its the wrong one?
Hey Vikton or anyone else I got 3k life and level 94 with all awakened gems including GMP. What pantheon do you use for uber eater seem to get almost instant killed when enter the battle and that white eater no mods?
The thing with Volley is that most of the projectiles won't hit the same target as they launch in a line without aiming, while with GMP the totems aim the ice spears at the target, so while bigger damage in paper, on practice it is a big loss

Hello Von, been using your build here from the start league. before i got teh triple damage staff, my PDS on freeze pulse was 146k before curses. I noticed once i equiped the new staff, it went down to 86k so i am assuming the tooltip is not calculating the triple damage? Can i just assume it is 3x what the tooltip shows? it sure looks like i am hitting harder. Thanks
Would also love more defensive side of this build while keeping some uber dps if possible. Rn sitting 30mil uber dps but everthing that touches me sends me back to hideout. This build Definetly needs skill to play.
Near the Militant Faith gem there is a node you take that is normally Arcane Will which gives 30% mana and some intelligence, but with that Militant Faith Gem it changes into "Calming Devotion" which converts 15% of physical damage into Cold damage. That doesn't really seem effective at all for this build. Do we still get the normal effects of Arcane will or does it change that node completely?
Dude how many alts did you go through??? I just picked up an ilevel 83, 12 passive cluster and pumped 1200 into it. Didn't see tier1 cast speed or 35% to passives once. lol
So i guess you wont fix your FP/Ice Spear League starter Build when you post this kind of evolution of that. Kind of sag to leave this mess in current state, got tricked into that a few days ago cause i love the shatter of enemies with cold builds. I really loved your builds, but this one is full of contradictions and open questions in the comments
I usually strungle to follow some of these cool builds, with lower badgets. Like for example you have 100DIV vs 200DIV, but what can I expect with 10DIV or 30DIV or 50div? If I start with 10DIV, is it normal to have 8-9 million DPS, or did I messed up something etc. Still very cool showcase and analyses.
With current prices you can buy soul mantle, kikazaru rings, cluster jewels, heat shiver, self flagelation and general life/resists gear for less than 10divines (I think maybe 5 but prices can change fast). That should give you about 5Mil dps and 2500hp when you're lvl 90 with lvl 20 gems. After that its optimising gear to move stuff around on your gear. For example you will want to move the reduce effect of curses from your rings so you can equip anathema and also get more offensive stats where you can which will put pressure on the rest of your gear.
Does enchant the staff with harvest increase the damage as much? Mine is not min-maxed yet but ive managed to get to 20m dps. Which is a first timer as a beginner. Thanks for the guide!
You were fire overcap by 28%, all you had to do was to switch your boots craft to cold/light instead of fire/light and you'd have been res cap for the video :D
with the gem with unnafected by curses while affected by Zealotry isn't it worth it to take those tree points on reduced effect on curses on you and put them somewhere else??
hi i would like to ask a question? im a bit of a noob to the game but would orginal sin be better then anathema since it turns all ele damage to chaos and makes nearby enemies chaos resist 0 so u wouldn't need 2 of the curse gems? for mid maxing i mean
I just restarted with this and am following through the levelling guide, and it's insane. I have a Tabula, so am able to 6-link Spark, but I removed 2 supports to simulate a 4-link and it's still mad. My fastest ever Dominus and Malachai kills while going through the acts. Can't wait to get to endgame :-)

I'm fairly new and so in confused.. when u take ancestral bond u can't damage using skills yourself so why are we using cold snap??

How do u get a 100 crit hance the only part i dont have is the corrupt chest piece there non on xbox so how u get 100 crit im at 49%

Just a heads up, POB does calculate the clusters correctly, it just doesn't show in the tree, but if you go to Calcs you can see that it does.

how did you manage to increase the damage from 300m DPS to 600m DPS if the POB didn't really change?
Maxroll on reduced curse implicit is 25, so you cant get 150% with 2 jewels. (and there only exist 2 shitty ones atm :) )

My question for noobs, is how in the hell do you know which timeless militant jewel to get, Ok I found them listed with ele and totem damage, but whats with the numbers listed? How do we know if it will change the passives or not like you said not to? I dont want to spend 5 divines to find out its the wrong one?

Hey Vikton or anyone else I got 3k life and level 94 with all awakened gems including GMP. What pantheon do you use for uber eater seem to get almost instant killed when enter the battle and that white eater no mods?

Before buying Aw GMP I found that Greater Volley actually gives more damage than GMP.
Am I the only one using this option? 😅 Tried to swap the GMP in Vikton’s PoB and DpS went up 5 % 😊
The thing with Volley is that most of the projectiles won't hit the same target as they launch in a line without aiming, while with GMP the totems aim the ice spears at the target, so while bigger damage in paper, on practice it is a big loss

It’s ok to die. If you complete the map or boss it doesn’t matter if you died a couple times. More dps is the answer

Hello Von, been using your build here from the start league. before i got teh triple damage staff, my PDS on freeze pulse was 146k before curses. I noticed once i equiped the new staff, it went down to 86k so i am assuming the tooltip is not calculating the triple damage? Can i just assume it is 3x what the tooltip shows? it sure looks like i am hitting harder. Thanks
Would also love more defensive side of this build while keeping some uber dps if possible. Rn sitting 30mil uber dps but everthing that touches me sends me back to hideout. This build Definetly needs skill to play.
Which one pantheon you choice?
Near the Militant Faith gem there is a node you take that is normally Arcane Will which gives 30% mana and some intelligence, but with that Militant Faith Gem it changes into "Calming Devotion" which converts 15% of physical damage into Cold damage. That doesn't really seem effective at all for this build. Do we still get the normal effects of Arcane will or does it change that node completely?

How does the build handle chaos damage? I don't see any mitigation for it
why when i put my helmet on that is supposed to give me more resists gives me less and when i take it off it gives me more this is confusing?

Dude how many alts did you go through??? I just picked up an ilevel 83, 12 passive cluster and pumped 1200 into it. Didn't see tier1 cast speed or 35% to passives once. lol
Forget that. My cluster needs to be ilevel 84 rofl!!

I usually strungle to follow some of these cool builds, with lower badgets. Like for example you have 100DIV vs 200DIV, but what can I expect with 10DIV or 30DIV or 50div? If I start with 10DIV, is it normal to have 8-9 million DPS, or did I messed up something etc. Still very cool showcase and analyses.
With current prices you can buy soul mantle, kikazaru rings, cluster jewels, heat shiver, self flagelation and general life/resists gear for less than 10divines (I think maybe 5 but prices can change fast). That should give you about 5Mil dps and 2500hp when you're lvl 90 with lvl 20 gems. After that its optimising gear to move stuff around on your gear. For example you will want to move the reduce effect of curses from your rings so you can equip anathema and also get more offensive stats where you can which will put pressure on the rest of your gear.
is there a way to do a fast mapping version of this build?

You were fire overcap by 28%, all you had to do was to switch your boots craft to cold/light instead of fire/light and you'd have been res cap for the video :D

This isnt a facetankbuild its a zhp glasscanon kill everything before they even hit you build. Just get chaos res to 0 and forget it exists

you cant get curse reduction to 60%. 55% is max 30 from suffix and 25 from implicit

with the gem with unnafected by curses while affected by Zealotry isn't it worth it to take those tree points on reduced effect on curses on you and put them somewhere else??
Those are curse effect which is incredibly strong dps

im a bit of a noob to the game but would orginal sin be better then anathema since it turns all ele damage to chaos and makes nearby enemies chaos resist 0 so u wouldn't need 2 of the curse gems? for mid maxing i mean
Then that would mean you need to remake whole gear, as your dmg scales from chilled frozen enemies and if I’m not wrong you would lose tone of dmg
I just restarted with this and am following through the levelling guide, and it's insane. I have a Tabula, so am able to 6-link Spark, but I removed 2 supports to simulate a 4-link and it's still mad. My fastest ever Dominus and Malachai kills while going through the acts. Can't wait to get to endgame :-)
