Welcome to the channel! Everything should be in playlists for easy viewing. Cheers!
Love the vintage Volvo content! Just found your channel and really enjoying your stuff.
@@adamv242 Good! We're almost done mechanically with this one. Would be a shame if I accidentally bought another...
Giving her the respect and care that the old girl needs
I had a lot of fun while piecing this car together. To take it any further would take a substantial amount of money unfortunately.
@@DeanofMachines well enjoy it while you can, you have something I'd love to have, but they are sooooo rare here
Looks great Dean. These cars really feel much more modern with the stiffer springs. Love all the reconstruction on the Amazon.
Thanks man! Ive not had a chance to drive one on sport springs. Your vote of confidence has me eager to get driving it
😂hahaha really glad you included the edm at the end!
Since I edited this video Ive been going back to it to watch it over and over. Im glad someone else got a laugh out of it. Thanks for sticking around!
If that dubstep doesn’t get you a thousand more followers. I don’t know what will
I so badly want to get into the whole wheel well with a wire brush and some more of that black paint! Baby steps, I know. Great video as always.
Perfect timing! I am going to replace the bushings in my Amazon front suspension soon. I see it is slightly different from my '58, but the principle should be the same. Already done the rear, including shocks and springs. Got a slight drag race stance on the car now with the rear lifted. Hopefully replacing the front parts will give it a more even hight again.
I have zero experience with the early cars. I would assume its fairly simple
Not many do, unfortunately! The plan is to combine it with a brake system swap, as consumable parts are unobtainium.
Hey Dean. Thanks for all the effort man. Love your videos. Great job with the front end. Thanks for messing up the garage so I don't have to ;)
Just like a bought one😉 You really giving her a fancy dress up, good on ya mate👍
Thanks Karl! I appreciate you coming back! We will have this thing looking good in no time!
@@DeanofMachines Never left Dean, just lurking and learning from you in the background, don't you worry mate.
Yes we all look as good as yesteryear, just takes a bit longer to achieve it, and a lot of extra grease in the right places.
Keep on the good work, soon you are cruising like me in my -64 amazon, still original drivetrain but just wait for winter
@@TheJonasbz Don't tell me that!! I'll put a list together for everyone to binge watch amazon content.
It be nice if you would include more of the disassembly and reassembly of stuff that you’re indicating is pretty basic for people that are real knuckleheads like me. Not that I couldn’t figure stuff out or ask questions of others locally but you seem pretty laid-back and I don’t see why you can’t include that stuff it’s not gonna be boring
Hey there! Thanks for the comment, often times I try to include the full disassembly of things but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. I will make it a point to show more disassembly!
Great job! I have a 1966 Amazon in great (rust free) condition. Changed out quite a few components but not yet touched the suspension. Was wondering, what clues did you have that it was time to change it out?
Thank you! A combination of loose steering feel and visual inspection will guide you. The control arm bushings on my car were swollen and falling off.
I imagine it's going to drive magnificently after all that. I want to do all the same stuff to the 140, but I'll probably defer it again and again until it kills me one day.
At some point you bite the bullet. In my case I’ve been procrastinating doing the trans and overdrive. Good excuse to get other things done
@@DeanofMachines It is always good to have something on the list to do so you can ignore the thing you don't want to do without any guilt.
Great video!
For le wagon or the coupe for an engine try a FD one ha!
Rotary engine in that volvo!!
I did most of this in 2020 on mine. Didnt do thw control arm bushings and springs but everything else front and rear. Bought bilsteins and about to buy springs next. Which springs are these?
Did you fight with the lower control arm bolt? Mine is being an absolute bear to remove periodically soaking it for weeks. Can’t get it to budge . so far this has been the only bolt I have not been able to remove.
I actually had an easy time with mine. Sorry to hear yours has been difficult
Thanks for posting these! Loving the 122S series. What torque values did you go with for the various front-end components? Or just "nice and tight" as I have been told when I asked this question elsewhere (but have no idea what that means).
I gaver the ole Heisman. Torque it down until you feel like "Hey that's pretty snug". NOTE: Please consider your body weight with this precise calculation. If you are built like a 10 yr old child then you might have to "Giver the beans" but generally, "Nice and tight" is acceptable.
Dean: how did you get the very large bolt to come out of the lower A arm on each side? Did yours just slide out? I can rotate mine a bit along with the A arm, have hit it a bunch on the thread end with a hammer, but cannot get it to back out to save my life. I know it is only threaded a small amount on the end, so it should just slide out like a giant pin. I am trying to avoid cutting it, but might have no choice. I purchased two new bolts so destroying the old is no big deal, but I'd rather avoid having to buy two new lower A arms as well in case they are damaged during the cutting. VP Auto has them but they are not cheap. Thanks!
I soaked them in penetrating oil for a while then got a big screwdriver under the head and was able to get it to move. Once I got the head out far enough, i was able to get a smaller sized wrench under the bolt head then hammered on the wrench to push the bolt out. Youll want to avoid hammering the thread end. Could damage it.
@@DeanofMachines Thank you for the quick response! Off to the store to get some proper spray oil.
@@rustyshackleford6092 anytime! Youll get it out just take your time.
1st time seeing an MGB GT do a burn out lol. And I'm English, I take it its an LS swap MGB .
Nice Dean !! when you gunna seal up the Old Babe ? (Amazon I Mean )

Thank you very kindly!
