if you were on budget you will take discrete GPU over APU any day. you can get something like 3600 combine with RX6600 at cheaper price than 8700G.

I am currently using the E3-1231 with 32gb of ERAM and a 1050-TI. I mostly play World of tanks with graphics on max at 1080P. I would love to build a PC using the 8700G it would be a little faster graphics than I am currently using but what i like the most is I will be running my PC at about 1/3 the power so my electric bill will go down I will also be able to run Windows 11 if I so choose. and room wont be so hot. the price is the problem, you can buy a cpu + gpu at the same price of the 8700 but have really better performance (like rx 6600 and a cheap processor).

exactly amd is transforming into an intel nvidia mix, but prices are too crazy, it is great to see a cpu with an igpu performing this well, but I buy performance, that is the only thing that matters, so eventually the price will go down, but not for now, literally in my area I can get an i3 12100F + rtx 3050, or an amd option, and the performance will be way better.

@@lordgizmo1763the problem is this is laptop processor made for high performance CPU tasks, to be paired with dedicated GPUs.

The budget combo gpu + cpu wouldn't as performant cpu wise as the apu amd is offering. This would be the adequate apu build for those seeking powerful cpu with decent igpu on the side for casual gaming. I think this is the only way amd can advertise the 8000g cpu generation.

@@arenzricodexd4409 If you calculate a "non-GPU" CPU (with the same CPU speed and power consumption as a 8700G) with a budget GPU, then it´s cheaper.
Of course if you plan to buy an additional GPU card - then this does not make sense, because you buy the GPU in the 8700G without using it.
-> Therefore the 8700G makes sense in a computer which is not used for 100% gaming. Or when you want to build a small PC which is capable of some gaming.
The 8700G is not a game changer. It is not for high end gaming in 4K with all details. If you need this - don´t buy it, it´s the wrong CPU for you.
If you only want an office PC - don´t buy this CPU - a small cheap mini-PC is the way you should go.
In my old computer ther´s a 1650 super. The comparison in this video shows me - the 8700G can do roughly the same FPS. Thx for this video!!!

I want to build a pc, I am weighing my options, and here is my hardlines:
For sure my system will be AM5-based.
    Budget is 1200$.
So I think if I put this 8700G as a starter, with fast ram like this guy has, then I can afford a discrete gpu like the Rx7700 or even 4700 ti super after 3 months or so after the initial build.
So my guess is this CPU is like the 7600x?

Yeah, this is the best case scenario for the 8700g. Fast and expensive ram with a fast CPU. In a more realistic scenario the 1650 will be faster. Its not cost effective as well. As we've seen even the rx680m didn't come to cheaper laptops. Neither has the rx780m.
And is it really that impressive beating a 1650 now that its a 5 year old budget card? The more realistic target would be the rtx 3050 6gb at minimum if not the rtx 3050 8gb.
