LOL! Exactly!! I was torn between the two and remembered the Sport Tuned had the red and black wires so decision made! LOL! I am glad you enjoyed it and I had a great time out on the track with it!
Seeing the box art alone gives the appearance of an interesting buggy, but seeing it built in person definitely brings it to life. I remember seeing these high on the shelves at local hobby shop as a kid. The buggy really didn't pique my interest at the time, but I've come to like it over the years. Thanks Addam!
It is a great looking and running buggy. As a kid it was not really on the top of me list either but now it is fantastic. I loved seeing it sit side by side the Boomerang as they look like good and evil or good guy and rebel sitting there next to each other! It did very well out on the track too! Big thumbs up from me! I am glad you liked it too!
I was a poor kid and my friends all had Schumacher ‘s and RC 10s built for them. I remember 13 saving up and ordering the super Sabre and building it overnight at my grandmothers house on the kitchen table. I started 9pm and finished 8am all by myself reading instructions. It was a messy build but it ran. I was so proud to have the slowest car in the street.
I love the story, thanks for sharing that! It may have not been the fastest one but I am sure you ran the tires bald on it! I fondly remember building my first one and it was my Christmas present and I talked my mom into letting me build it before Christmas day so it would be ready to drive that day! I was with it when she ordered it as she had no clue to what I wanted so I knew about it anyways. It was still super cool to unwrap and get those batteries on charge! I spent the whole day charging and driving!!
It is a really cool looking a great running buggy! I don't mind cutting them out and painting them most of the time but I won't argue with them doing it for me once in a while! So much more convenient LOL!
Your decal tec. is exactly how I do it Addam. Pre cut bodies are cool but I love to cut and paint my own, Don't care for the Sabre body but after this vid I ordered one from amain hobbies. Tax and everything was $203. Another master piece VIDEO Addam, Ralphie
I generally would rather cut and paint my own but when I do get one that is pre-cut and painted it is kind of a breath of fresh air! Since I do most of mine in box art it is not a big deal but having the option to paint it your own color is nice. I think you will like it once it is sitting in front of you. They always seem a lot cooler in person! I am glad you enjoyed the vide and have a great week!
Have to say Addam, the Super Sabre looks good. The Sport Tuned Motor was the right choice. It came really close to 10 seconds flat on the track. It took those turns like a champ, and the air time was really good. Can't wait to see what the Boomerang will do. 👌👌💯💯💯👍👍👍
Thank Al! I love the looks of it and it drove really well! The tires were really digging in and got great traction out in the soft, wet dirt! Can't get much closer to getting into the 9s than that! It was a fun time out there, not so much cleaning all the dirt off of it today but it was worth it! I did run the Boomerang but have not edited it. I am not sure what the lap times were yet. I could tell it was a bit more bouncy so I am not sure it will be any faster. That run will be up soon!
Thanks Brent. I enjoyed the build and the added cheat of not having to paint the body! It ran super well out there and the tires gripped perfectly. Made me look like I can drive for a change! LOL! I do like the additional angles on the track, makes it more interesting to watch!
When I had a shop (so many years ago) I sold a lot of these. I remember well the boys looking at it with eyes wide open... great to see you assembling it. Have fun!
It is a very cool looking buggy and it was a pleasure to build. I did enjoy the pre-painted and pre-cut body a lot as I was not interested in painting at all! Some times it is nice to cheat a little and have a easy and relaxed time building one one without the stinky paint!
I've never really paid much attention to the Super Sabre till i watched your vid. Great video, by the way, as always. 'Super Sabre, Boomerang, Fighting Buggy, Lunch Box, Clodd Buster'. My wish list is longer than my laundry list 🤣🤣. Adam, you're the 'man'. Looking forward to adding more kits to the list👍👍
There are so many cool Tamiya kits it is next to impossible to have a short list of ones you want to get. You would think after getting so many my list would be shorter but it grows all the time too! LOL! I am glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate the kind words! I am sure I I can talk you into putting one or two more on that list in the future!!!
Thanks, it turned out really nice. Both of them got ran, I will have the Boomerang video up soon. I think this one handled a bit better but until I edit the other I won't know which ran faster times. I think this one did very well and will be tough to beat! Both are all cleaned up and looking good again. That took a while.
Gorgeous buggy Addam. I love the black and red plastics. Nice job laying those stickers down too! Both of those models look fantastic next to one another! Love how you had your cameras at like 3 different points on the track. Great job editing dude! Hope you have a great weekend Brother!
Thanks Robby! It is both a looker and a runner! I was very impressed with how well it hooked up out there. They definitely seem to prefer the soft, wet dirt over the drier hard-pack. Made a mess of the buggy but it was wroth it to see it scooting around so well! Made me look like a decent driver for minute! LOL! The pre-painted body was a time saver and no stinky paint. The decals were not had but ones you do have to plan out a bit. Take care and hopefully you guys just get a little snow this time around! We are going to get cold rain from the looks of it.
It's a Great looking car. Did well on the track, and it looks like fun. I really enjoyed the jump sequence at the end. As always, thank you for the build and race video.
Thanks! It is a good looking one, I love the graphics going from the body to the wing. It did well on the track, just not quite as stable and predictable as the Super Sabre was. I think sorting out the shocks will help it out. I am glad you enjoyed the video!
That's a great looking car. I am with you on pre-painted bodies. I think they're great. It included some great building tips. The car seem to drive very well and landed well coming off the jump. Your grand level camera shots gave us a different perspective and improved the video. Unfortunately, I know it's a lot more work. When I saw the picture of the car after the run, based on my experience, I would not call it a muddy mess. It's a little dirty. This is an excellent video.
Thanks Michael, I am glad you enjoyed it. I do like having the convenience of the pre-painted bodies from time to time! Especially in the winter when it is much harder to paint. It ran like a champ out there and the tires just loved that wet, soft dirt a lot! The end picture was the clean side of the car. I did not realize it until after I got inside the left side of it was completely covered and the right side was cleaner but the dirt turns are all left hand turns and the only right hander is on the carpet section! So the dirt all caked up on the left side of the chassis from the front tire slinging it all over in the turns! For me it is a muddy mess as I a not a fan of cleaning all that off after a run. especially after it just being pristine and new! It was worth it and I have my work cut out for me today cleaning it and the Boomerang off. You'll see the boomer soon. I do like the multiple camera angles and I am trying to do it more often. It does make the run videos more fun! Take care and have a wonderful weekend my friend!
Thank you, I love the looks of this one. Tamiya really nailed it with the artist box art and I am glad they are continuing to keep it on most of their models. The SS drove really well and those tires just loved the wet and soft dirt out there! I am not looking forward to cleaning it all up today but it was fun. The added grip made it a lot easier to drive and made it look kind of like I know what I am doing, except for the first lap where I missed the corner! It had too much grip and turned too hard! LOL!
Hey Addam, a lovely looking RC, so, so nice that the chamfering of the chassis, to fit the switch, what a stroke of luck. Definitely the right choice of colour for this bad boy! 😊😊looks so striking with the black & red decals 😊😊I remember the notchy feeling years ago, when I had a BigWig, shame issue with the suspension, not under load, place a battery in, the weight loaded the suspension, no issues 😊😊 oh yeah, peppy little blighter 😊😊awesome again my friend. Best wishes to you and the family 😊😉😎
Thanks John! It is a great looker and it ran really well! I had a great time with it and was really happy with the lap times. The clean up was not as much fun! It took over two hours to get this and the Boomerang all cleaned up but it was worth it! Take care and have a wonderful week!
She turned out great. Such an awesome buggy that I think stands out over all the others in the hotshot family. It’s perfect in box art form. But what was even more surprising is how well it did and handled on the track 🤯💪. Enjoyed the running footage 👍
It is a good looking buggy and so is the Boomerang but this one is kind of like the Boomerang's rebellious brother! It ran great out on the track, it was a ton of fun and it put in some great laps. It was not as much fun today cleaning it and the Boomerang, it took forever! LOL! I am glad you enjoyed the run. I will have the other one's run video out soon!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah, it just has that aura to it. Yes, cleaning 😪. It’s always good fun until you see the state she’s in after 🫣. Oh and a side note: add some red or black o-rings inside the front shock behind the valve, to limit the arms from sagging to low . It will stop the arms from over extending and will help eliminate any dog bone/ axle binding 👍 . I ended up adding 4 to my hotshot 2 and problem solved.
Thanks Steve. It ran like a champ out there and those super gripper tires lived up to their name on the soft, wet dirt out there! It was a blast to drive and it handled great! I am glad you enjoyed it!
The Super Sabre has red o-rings in the suspension and the Boomerang has black o-rings. Adam of @RcActionAustralia has put the red ones in the Boomerang. That should solve the problem with the grindy suspension. I'm going to try this on my Boomerang. Great slowmotion shots of a flying Sabre!
Yeah, I saw his video last night and I will try that out. It had not even occurred to me to try and swap out the o-rings! I am hoping it does the trick! I did drive the Boomerang yesterday as well and I could see it hopping around and it was not as settled due to the harder and slower suspension. You will see that run soon. I am glad you enjoyed the Super Sabre run. It did really well out there and I had a great time with it. The not so fun part of cleaning it all up today I am not looking forward to but it was worth it for the run!
Cool running footage Addam, it handles a lot better than I thought it would 😎 both the boomerang and the sabre look awesome.. It's hard to pick a favourite out the two
It ran super well out there! It helped a lot that the tires really dug into the soft, wet dirt and gave it tons of grip! I like the styling of both of them, I could not choose one over the other. Maybe the Boomerang just because it looks good in a lot of different colors maybe.
They look terrific side by side! I think it looks like the good guy and the bad guy sitting there side by side! Glad you enjoy it and have a terrific weekend!
Rig looks awesome bud. I agree must be a relief not to worry about painting that body. Love the look of it all finished up and the run went well I thought. Enjoy the rest of the weekend bud. :) Got some great slo mos of it coming off the jump as well there at the end
Thanks Nick! It is a blessing at time to not have to cut out and paint the body! Especially this time of year when the cold and wet can really affect it! I did not mind the helping hand at all! LOL! It ran super well and all that grip on the soft, wet ground really helped get it around the track quickly and easily. Made me look like a better driver, except for the first lap where it turned so hard I missed the corner! LOL! Glad you enjoyed it!
It is a nice one to build and it ran great. Plus the pre-cut and pre-painted body is great for this time of year when painting stuff can be a challenge! One of these days I will get an Avante as well, once I am willing to pay the premium for it!
They are pretty quick aren't they. Looks great, runs great...and sometimes it's nice having a pre-cut, pre-painted body...even though it feels like cheating 😂 I just test drove my 1986 BigWig rebuild with the original Technigold and a 17t pinion...it's almost too fast! Same gearboxes as that one. I'm glad Tamiya came out with these again, it was a good decision.
Yes, it is a good looking one and it ran really well out there! I did appreciate the pre-done body shell, it is nice to have a cheat day every now and then! It is such a pain to paint right now that this was a blessing! I really need to build a spray booth to make life easier. I am glad you got your bigwig done! I can imagine on that setup it may be a little too quick! I am curious if we are going to see that re-released this year or not, I am just eager to see what gets announced soon!
I love the look of it and it drive like a champ! Those tires perform so much better on the softer, wet dirt than they do when it is dry out there. Makes a mess of the buggy but it was doing really well and made it easy to drive being so grippy!
Yeah it did really well and those tires were perfect for the conditions. They really dug in and gripped perfectly. Made me look good driving and once again so very close to the 9s!!
Great to see it built and running. The color coordination of the wires is absolutely justified. 😆 Great camera angles. I’ll always love the jump view but the banked turn angle is awesome as well. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Trey! Yes, the matching wires felt like it needed to happen! I had a torque tuned in my hand originally but then remembered the black and red wires on the sport tuned and went with it just because of that. I am glad you enjoyed the run footage. I am going to try to included this on all the track videos in the future.
Another awesome job Addam pre painted or not even the decals sound a nightmare to me it looked awesome on the track I was shocked how well it ran nice sticky soil great editing and shots have a great weekend mate 👊
Thanks Mark! I enjoyed the build and the fact there was no stinky painting needed was a bonus. I have to go out and paint in the garage as it is just too cold outside and my mom and wife would have a fit if I stunk up the house with that paint smell! It did run like a champ and those tires loved the soft, wet dirt and made it so easy to drive! It almost made it look like I can drive out there! LOL! Great time overall and they will both look great in the collection! Take care and I am hoping for snow this weekend and not just cold rain!
Nice super sabre!. I was having coffee on Sunday and my daughter asked me why i have a Potato trying to act like a superhero on my cup. LOL I said look closer he is holding a controller and a Rc car. Then she told me i have to many Rc . She is 6 years old LOL HAHAHA
LOL!!! That is too funny! You also need to explain to her that in the world of RC there is not a defined number of "too many" it has not been found yet! I think someone needs to go clean her room! LOL!!
Awesome video! Your Super Sabre turned out really well. Really enjoyed the track footage with the additional cameras. Thanks very much for taking the time to set those up and edit all the footage together. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it! I do think I need to put the camera in the second big corner and catch the turn that is further away from the main one. I am still learning what is best but it does make it more fun to watch! It is a lot to set up but in the end it is worth it. It makes for a more fun watch.
Well you beat me this time lol - still waiting for this to arrive!! I think I messaged Keith at RC Icons a long time ago when he was rebuilding an original that I always thought the super Sabre had one of the coolest futuristic aggressive bodies and I hoped it would get rereleased. So yeah…I’m stoked that it’s now here!
I had a heck of a time getting one. The mess that is Tower Hobbies screwed up my order once again so I canceled it and ordered it from Amain. It got here in a couple days from there and I would be still waiting for it from Tower. I had a whole rant about it but I cut it out of the video. I really do love the looks of this one. I really love the two of them sitting side by side, it is kind of like a good and evil duo kind of like a clean cut one and a rebellious one! I hope yours gets there soon!
It is a good looking buggy and it was a blast to drive! It was nice to have a bit of a cheat day with building it and not having to fuss with painting! I agree it is pretty perfect in the box art so no need to change it!
I like both of them, kind of like a good and evil look when they are side by side. I am glad you like the edit of the track run! I saw Fil's unboxing as well! Take care!
The tries really hooked up on the soft, wet dirt and made it really easy to get around. The buggy was a mess but it was worth it. I am glad you enjoyed the edit on the track! Take care and have a great weekend!
G'day Addam!, Nice looking build👌, we're glad to hear your suspension worked well and great lap times too! 👍. Thanks for sharing your build and run video Addam, we hope you're having a great weekend 😁🙋♀️🦘🇦🇺
Thanks!! It was both a fun build and drive. The tires hooked up so well out there and made it easy to drive. So close to the 9s but I cannot complain as it was on rails! I am glad you enjoyed it and I hope you guys have a great weekend too!
Yeah, can't get much closer! LOL! It ran like a champ out there and the super gripper tires lived up to their name. It was on rails out there and made it a lot easier to drive. It is a dirty mess and I will be spending some time today cleaning both of them up but it was worth it to see them shredding around so well. You'll see the Boomerang soon!
It was getting around the track very well. Those tires work a lot better in the wetter and softer ground. When it is dry and more hard packed they tend to slide around a lot more. It was a mess when it was done! I'll be scrubbing both up and getting them all clean today!
Thanks! I love the look of it and those tires really do love the wetter and softer ground. It made a mess of the buggy but it was getting around very well!
Great job Addam! Both true iconic cars from my childhood, I could never decide which was my favourite back then..... and seeing them side by side I still can't now! 😂 Most interesting how the plastics differed so much regarding that front suspension, but the sabre certainly seemed to work so much better than the booma! I would have thought the plastics would have been made with the same tooling/ingredients, and I doubt the colouring process would have made a difference! As Keith would say "it is what it is" I guess?!! Cool little switch hack there, worked a treat by the looks of it. As soon as you said you were fitting a sports tuned I thought perfect choice for that car, and my thoughts were confirmed by seeing how jolly well that thing went around your track.... what a performer! Some awesome laps there. 🥇 As for your reasoning behind that motor choice, I had to laugh as that's exactly the kind of anal thought process my own brain works to! 😂 When using the superstock range of motors I don't decide which spec is more suitable for the project, my choice is based solely on the colour match..... (RZ in the turbo Optima to match the red, BZ in the monster beetle to match the blue stripe and my blue upgraded shocks, TZ in the top force to match all the TRF light blue hop ups etc etc) It's stupid OCD derived logic, but ironically always seems to work out perfectly for performance to! 😂 Cheers for putting it through its paces on the track for our entertainment mate, it's VERY hard taking out a fresh, shiny and mint new build and straight away throwing it around a dirt track with jumps at full blast like that! Hope it cleaned up to A1 condition for the shelf afterwards! Great video matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍
They do look good sitting side by side, kind of a good guy-bad guy look to them! The red plastic is still soft but not a soft and folly feeling as the blue. Neither do their job well for the sway bar holder but I can find parts to fix it, I am just trying to figure out is it worth it as they dis drive well. The switch mounting in these now is an adventure and would love to find a bulk lot of those old school switches to replace the short, small one with. I have not found any I want to order as none of them look correct. It is not the easiest thing to shop for online! LOL! I had both the sports tuned and torque tuned on hand and was debating which to install. Then I remembered the black and red wires and that made my decision for me! It is not the first time I have done it, the motors in the Grey Clog were chosen for the nice blue labels to go with the rest of the truck's plastics. Function and fashion, why not! It was fun driving it out there and the supper gripper tires really lived up to their name out in the soft wet dirt. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to get both of them cleaned up on Saturday but they are both looking good again. Some minor scuffs on the underside but over all they are back in very good shape! Take care James and have a great week!
Thank you! I love the looks of them and it drove really well out there! Tons of grip and some nice lap times! I kind of see them as a good and evil. It is like the Boomerang is the clean cut, good guy and the Super Sabre is the aggressive rebel or the bad guy.
Thanks Keith! It is a great build and boy did it doo well out on the track. Those super grippers lived up to their name out on the soft, wet dirt and made it very easy to drive. Now I have to go clean both of them off today but it was worth it!
It is a great looking buggy and it ran really well out there! The Super Gripper tires earned their name for sure! It was fun and it turned in some good laps but it took forever to get them cleaned up yesterday!
Ah, so close to that 10 second barrier! Makes me wonder if you actually cracked it already, and you're just showing 1/100's improvements little by little, keeping the suspense going, ha ha! If that's so, that's cool, I'll keep sitting on the edge of my chair, I'll watch! 😃 This isn't really a buggy I'm too interested in, but I have to admit that silver body does look kind of nice!
Yeah, you can't get any closer than that! I intentionally edit them so I am not seeing the duration of the laps until I have them all broken up. Then I go back and see what the times are. I was shocked it was so close! I am hoping one break it before I tear out the jump. I just have not had the time nor energy to go tackle that task yet. If it keeps raining ever couple days it may be a while as I am not keen to wallowing in the mud out there! I think there two of them together look great and they are kind of the good brother bad brother look to them! A little bit of good and evil look to them! Take care Mads and fingers crossed I can get one into the 9s for you soon!
Thank you! It looks great and ran like a champ! The tires really dug in and it handled great. Almost made it look like I know how to drive for a change. Well except for the first lap where it turned so tight I missed the turn! LOL!
I love building and I grew up drooling over them in magazines so it is the best of both worlds. I get to build really good looking kits and check off a lot of childhood wish list items! This one ran really well too which is always a happy bonus!
It is fun build and it is a ripper! It drove super well and boy did those tires love digging into the soft, wet dirt! Made it look like I know what I am doing driving it! I was very happy with the lap times and again, so close to a 9 something lap! Once of these days!
Thanks! It did really well and the tires really dug into the wet, soft dirt an hooked up! Almost got into the 9s, so close but low 10s is great times for my awful driving and my track so no complaints at all!
Looks good. Thanks for sharing the tips. I think the Boomerang shock shafts are too thick. My back ones are kinda draggin. may switch the orings to Traxxas silicone ones. Just got my Super Sabre. Gonna start it next weekend. I will be installing a TBLE04S esc in mine.
I think if you go from the black O-rings and switch to the red they don't drag like they do. I have not done it yet but was told it fixes it! I am sure the silicone one s will probably work too. The shocks for the Super Sabre work a lot better and you won't have any issues from them. Have fun with it!
Great video mate loved it. Might have to get look for a Super saber now one of them cars that I didn't like after a few build video's I want one now 👍👍
Back in the 80s, I had a Tamiya fox. It was pretty cool, just a little on the slow side. A friend got a Super Sabre and I thought it was super cool. Loved the 4 wheel drive. I am seriously considering getting this kit for my next RC. I haven't actually built one sine I built the Fox, but I think it would be a fun project. Are you happy with the car after driving it? I definetly plan on driving it if I get one! Let me know what you think! Great video!
Yeah it ran great and no issues at all. They are a rather easy build but most Tamiya kits are. The instructions are easy to follow and they are no real tricky spots. The only thing I can advise it to get a bearing kit for it. They provide about half of them but not all of them, still using bushings in spots. It is just easier to get a bearing kit and not have to worry about them. Pick one up, they are just as fun now as they were as when we were kids!!
Thank you! It was fun out there running it nad it turned in some great lap times. Those super gripper tires earned their name out there! It was not as much fun cleaning it all up, that took forever!
They both look good fantastic and I'm a huge fan of their styling. But for me the Boomerang just edges it out. Super Sabre looked great out on the track. 👍
I love the looks of both of them and I almost feel like it is a good and evil type of thing. The boomerang looks more like the good guy and the Super Sabre looks a bit more like the bad guy or the rebel. I am super happy to have both and it drive very well, Those super gripper tires were loving the soft, wet dirt and really made it easy to drive!
The Saber ran great. Looks good ran good. I couldn't tell is the body silver? I thought how cool it would be chrome. Hope the Boomerang runs just as well. Hope your holidays were great.
It did both very well! I love the looks of it and it drove like a champ! It is a silver paint on there and a Chrome edition would looks fantastic! The Boomerang ran after this and I have not edited that footage but it was just as fun! also just as messy! I have to go down and clean both of them today before I get into anything else! My holidays were good and I hope yours were as well! Take care!
Looks fantastic man!!!! Agree, sometimes I wished the bodies came painted (just for break) then other times, I'm like, why is it pre-painted??? Down slope the jump really helps the time (maybe if it was longer & shorter), I know, You already said some changes are coming to the track.. Great video dude!!!!
Yeah, the occasional pre-painted body is a blessing! I am usually one to want to have the option to paint things a different color but rarely doo! LOL! The jump is coming out sometime this winter. The jump is a pain and blocks my view and it always needing to be fixed. I need to make a trip to Lowes or Home Depot and find some suitable stuff to make a weatherproof ramp. I have ideas but need to go find out first hand what will work!
I like the looks of both of them and together they kind of look like a good guy bad guy duo or something. I am kind of a sucker for the odd ones and the look of the buggies with the single front shock. It did run around the track really well!
Awesome job as always. I never cared for the Tamiya front mono shock design. I hated it on my Hotshot II. That entire suspension design was so bad compared to the Kyoshos end Team Associated of the day. Still a fun car though and it's faults also make it fun lol
Yeah, I can see that, it is not going to be as good as a dual shock setup but it does look cool and still does work pretty well. They all have their oddities and it would be dull with all of them being full blown race buggies. Some weird ones and odd designs make it more interesting and fun like you said! Take care Ryan and have a good weekend!
I am glad you enjoyed it. I like the single front shock. It looks good and works rather well. Much better than you would think it would! I took the Boomerang out as well, that will be out soon. Both did well!
@@AddamsPlayground agree completely what one should be first saber ar.boomerang remember I run them so want best working over looks well somewhat. Thanks Addam.
@@reitplace4765 The Super Sabre shocks work better but otherwise they are the exact same. I think the Super Sabre my take a tumble a it better since the bigger wing on the Boomer may get messed up quicker.
@@AddamsPlayground perfect it's on my list can't run em till spring now so I have a little time. Thanks Addam my tamoya collection is growing just like you said it would.. up to 9 now crazy... Appreciate bud.
I love the looks of it and it did drive very well. Those oval block tires love the soft, wet dirt and it hooked up great. Most of the time it is harder and drier out there and the tires tend to slide a lot more but it was gripping very well and made it a lot easier to drive. I give the buggy and the tires the credit, I am still a hack driver! LOL!
Yeah, I had about a 10 minute rant in there about Tower and how much of a mess they are and I am not ordering anything from them again unless I absolutely have to. I took it out as I did not want to bring the vibe down and it was already rather long. Contact them as they have probably screwed up you order as well. I ended up ordering mine from Amain and got it in 2 days. It took me almost as long to get a resolution at Tower. You order is sitting in purgatory and is not going to get filled. Their systems are still all messed up.
Hi, which sprocket did you choose to mount it? In my first one I had inserted a 17t in steel but then I changed my mind and put the 15t in aluminium, combined with a 21-turn absima motor
Yeah, I hope so. I have been waiting for them to show up on Amain's website to order it. I am refusing to order from Tower Hobbies or Horizon at the moment so I will have to wait for it to show up elsewhere.
What is the reason for running the motor off the little AAA battery when it was connected to the rear gearbox? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m New to your channel.
I run the gear box like that after putting it together to make sure there is nothing wrong. If it will run on a AA battery then it should not have any issues. It is just a safety check and sanity check as I have had to dismantle half a build to find out something was not right and was binding up in it.
Nice run, Addam. Did you drive it aggressively on purpose, or unintentional? Haha. Just kidding. But, it does jump very even. It lands on all fours at the same time!
Thanks! It ran really well out there! I went ahead and gave it the beans to see what it could do. The track was wet and soft so the tires had a great surface to grip into and it just gripped and handled very well. the only thing I had to back off of at all was the jump, hitting it full speed you over jump it a lot but other than that it was full send! I drove this and the boomerang the same day and other than the dirty mess to clean up (for about 2.5 hours on Saturday!) it was a blast and everything still looks good!
I do, it is a great buggy. The only draw back is the hard body does get beat up after a while. watch Mark's video he just posted, he sums it all up very well. Much better than I could in a written response! ua-cam.com/video/2cNVujGabPE/v-deo.html
@@AddamsPlayground yes i remember know as watched the UA-cam video you took it on holiday with you but forgot to take transmitter lol so you bought one
@@AddamsPlayground watched that earlier as asked him where he got lexan body and motor as body is compatible with the monster beetle! Witch i haven't started to build yet but costing me alot in upgraded alloy parts etc from china
"Just because it has red wires" best reason for installing a motor so far. Great video my friend. I like the jump slow-mos
LOL!
I miss my Super Sabre...😔
I had the original 1980s version where you had to cut and paint the body shell.
Another master piece VIDEO Addam,
Ralphie
Nice build and laps I appreciate the different angles on the track
Agree!!@@AddamsPlayground
Build looks very clean, good to have a runner to use freely and the boomerang on the shelf
Awesome buggy. Love the box art on these Tamiya buggies. Good little rip too.
LOL!
Oh and that thing jumps really well. Great looking kit.
It did really well out there and jumped nicely. I love the look of it and sitting beside the Boomerang it is like a little bit of good and evil.
thanks Addam. Love the Sabre. Hoping now the Bigwig is released again.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I am also hoping to see the Bigwig show up this year. I would definitely get one. Fingers crossed!
@@NoNoRc Yeah, I plan on sticking some in mine when I rebuild the ones on my Boomerang and also the front of the SS.
Came out great Addam! The sport tuned motor looked like a good choice as it actually jumped the big ramp on your track and got some nice air!
Seeing the Super Sabre and Boomerang together is pure joy! Love it dude. Have an awesome weekend! 👌
This was on my kit list when I was 14 think I might get one with an avante 😎 thanks for sharing Adam 😊
Great video Addam. I loved the jumps at the end. It seemed to handle really well!
I love the look of it and it drive like a champ! Those tires perform so much better on the softer, wet dirt than they do when it is dry out there. Makes a mess of the buggy but it was doing really well and made it easy to drive being so grippy!
10.05 not bad for a old tamiya sport tuned. Actually pretty respectable really. Nice run. Good grip in the wet dirt.
That turned out really nice, love the looks of the Super Sabre.
It is a good looking one and it ran around the track very well! Almost got into the 9s again, I need a turbo button or something! LOL!
I really like the look of the car. The body being painted is a big plus in my book. The silver color is perfect..why change it!
It is a good looking buggy and it was a blast to drive! It was nice to have a bit of a cheat day with building it and not having to fuss with painting! I agree it is pretty perfect in the box art so no need to change it!
Nice! I like the Super Sabre more than the Boomerang
Great edit on the racetrack
Also fun to see 2 new Suber Sabre videos in one day
I like both of them, kind of like a good and evil look when they are side by side. I am glad you like the edit of the track run! I saw Fil's unboxing as well! Take care!
Incredible great driving, love seeing them jumps ,maybe I can build one ,one day like that great job Sir

Thanks Addam!
Oh so close to a sub-ten second lap!!
It looked real composed out there on the track!
Nice work Addam!👍😊
Yeah, can't get much closer! LOL! It ran like a champ out there and the super gripper tires lived up to their name. It was on rails out there and made it a lot easier to drive. It is a dirty mess and I will be spending some time today cleaning both of them up but it was worth it to see them shredding around so well. You'll see the Boomerang soon!
Man she runs great Nice video brother....😎👍
It was getting around the track very well. Those tires work a lot better in the wetter and softer ground. When it is dry and more hard packed they tend to slide around a lot more. It was a mess when it was done! I'll be scrubbing both up and getting them all clean today!
Man that thing like to jump, great to see it ripping around 👍
It was running great out there and it got in some great laps! The Super Gripper tires earned their name for sure!
Looks great Addam awesome on the track hooked up really well and in the jump 😊 impressive.. Pete 😊😊
Thanks! I love the look of it and those tires really do love the wetter and softer ground. It made a mess of the buggy but it was getting around very well!
Great job Addam!
Both true iconic cars from my childhood, I could never decide which was my favourite back then..... and seeing them side by side I still can't now! 😂
Most interesting how the plastics differed so much regarding that front suspension, but the sabre certainly seemed to work so much better than the booma!
As for your reasoning behind that motor choice, I had to laugh as that's exactly the kind of anal thought process my own brain works to! 😂
When using the superstock range of motors I don't decide which spec is more suitable for the project, my choice is based solely on the colour match..... (RZ in the turbo Optima to match the red, BZ in the monster beetle to match the blue stripe and my blue upgraded shocks, TZ in the top force to match all the TRF light blue hop ups etc etc)
It's stupid OCD derived logic, but ironically always seems to work out perfectly for performance to! 😂
Cheers for putting it through its paces on the track for our entertainment mate, it's VERY hard taking out a fresh, shiny and mint new build and straight away throwing it around a dirt track with jumps at full blast like that!
Awesome build, and they look great together..
Thank you! I love the looks of them and it drove really well out there! Tons of grip and some nice lap times! I kind of see them as a good and evil. It is like the Boomerang is the clean cut, good guy and the Super Sabre is the aggressive rebel or the bad guy.
Awesome build and run. I had a blast building mine last year and the run totally turned me into a kid again. Doing doughnuts all over the place. Lol
Thanks Keith! It is a great build and boy did it doo well out on the track. Those super grippers lived up to their name out on the soft, wet dirt and made it very easy to drive. Now I have to go clean both of them off today but it was worth it!
Car looks great love the run footage you really put it through it paces like to see them dirty lol
This isn't really a buggy I'm too interested in, but I have to admit that silver body does look kind of nice!
Nice work Addam😀 , Good lap times and it looks good on track 👍👍👍
Thank you! It looks great and ran like a champ! The tires really dug in and it handled great. Almost made it look like I know how to drive for a change. Well except for the first lap where it turned so tight I missed the turn! LOL!
Fun lookin kit!
The buggy looks awesome💯
It was a fun build and I had a great time running it! It was less fun cleaning it up! LOL!
Nice build Addam I can see why you like these tamiya cars
I love building and I grew up drooling over them in magazines so it is the best of both worlds. I get to build really good looking kits and check off a lot of childhood wish list items! This one ran really well too which is always a happy bonus!
just got mine . can’t wait to get it up and running 😊👍
It is fun build and it is a ripper! It drove super well and boy did those tires love digging into the soft, wet dirt! Made it look like I know what I am doing driving it! I was very happy with the lap times and again, so close to a 9 something lap! Once of these days!
Did you get it running yet? Just curious.
@@jackdeth2063 still building the thundershot. hoping this will be next . i’m a slow builder 😂👍
That ran really nice!
Great Video
Thanks! It did really well and the tires really dug into the wet, soft dirt an hooked up! Almost got into the 9s, so close but low 10s is great times for my awful driving and my track so no complaints at all!
And like the Boomerang it jumps well.
It drove and jumped really well. The tires loved the soft, wet ground and it had really nice lap times!
Might have to get look for a Super saber now one of them cars that I didn't like after a few build video's I want one now 👍👍
I am glad you enjoyed it! The Boomerang run video will be out tomorrow! Sorry to be a bad influence.... maybe... LOL!!
Great video And tips Addam looks amazing 👌
Thanks Mark, I am glad you enjoyed it! I had a great time building it and it ran super well out there!
Dude you killed it great video beautiful buggies!!!
Thank you! It was fun out there running it nad it turned in some great lap times. Those super gripper tires earned their name out there! It was not as much fun cleaning it all up, that took forever!
Great video, awesome run and build
Thank you brother, glad you enjoyed it! It looks good and ran great, almost got into the 9s again. I just cannot seem to get there! One of these days!
Take care!
Sick Job Ad's
Thanks! It was a ton of fun out running it around. Not so much cleaning it all up afterwards!
sweet, she handles nice..
It ran really well out there and those super gripper tires lived up to their name for sure!
The boomerang just looks better. Maybe it's the blue and yellow? Looks like it performed pretty good tho
Both did well!
man now i want one of these.. reminds me of the boomerang but boxy.. update ---Then you bring out the boomerang haha
They are cool looking buggies. The Super Sabre is like the boomerang and the Thunder Dragon had a baby! I love the look of both of them.
Looks great and also drives well very controllable or maybe your just a good driver on the hime track 🤔
LOL!
Tower Hobbies I ordered one back in September they have them in stock now and I still haven't got it yet😢. It runs pretty good though.
I have the 15t in mine, I am running the Sport Tuned in it so yours should be a little faster overall than mine is.
Nice video💪😁
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it! I love the looks of this one and it drive terrific!
Nice camera shots.need more cameras.
I am working on that. Just got another go-pro for the track! It is a great looking buggy!
Are you going to get the new Hot shot 2 competition x did an unboxing today I think it went back to the old style cockpit?
Yeah, I hope so. I have been waiting for them to show up on Amain's website to order it. I am refusing to order from Tower Hobbies or Horizon at the moment so I will have to wait for it to show up elsewhere.
What is the reason for running the motor off the little AAA battery when it was connected to the rear gearbox? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m
New to your channel.
I run the gear box like that after putting it together to make sure there is nothing wrong. If it will run on a AA battery then it should not have any issues. It is just a safety check and sanity check as I have had to dismantle half a build to find out something was not right and was binding up in it.
@@AddamsPlayground ah cool. I wasn’t sure if it was a new motor breaking In procedure or something.
I like tamiya
I kind of like them a little too!
Do you have a blitzer beetle? & If so is it any good in your opinion
@@SRG-HITMAN-11 yeah that was so silly of my to forget such an important piece... It'll never happen again though!!
@@AddamsPlayground watched that earlier as asked him where he got lexan body and motor as body is compatible with the monster beetle! Witch i haven't started to build yet but costing me alot in upgraded alloy parts etc from china
@@SRG-HITMAN-11 I got mine through Team Blue Groove, I think Mark got his through Kamtec. both look to be about the same.
how is it compared to the hotshot 2?
Overall it is very similar minus the roll cage of the HS2. It drives great and I have always enjoyed the look of it.
@@AddamsPlayground i see. that's nice. i will think about it.
What's the difference between this and the boomerang is it just the body
The only difference is the body and the color of the plastics. Technically the shocks are different but basically the same car.
“Eh, eh, eh,” is that a technical term?
Yes, eh-eh-eh is somewhere between a wiggy-wiggy-wiggy and an eyuh-eyuh-eyuh.... LOL!!
😂😂😂
Motors based on wire colors...😂😂😂😂
I mean sometimes you just have to go with it!!! LOL!
