The camera man had to wear a very heavy camera and gimbal pack that he took off the instant he wasn't filming (an assistant with a stand would run on stage to give the camera support) that rig was the size of a person. He couldn't just flip the camera up and down to cover the transition. He was effectively in a stationary position and they had to exit and enter from opposite sides. At the end MBC decided to go all black/dark for the transition which lessened the effect sadly. They worked very hard to get his vision in the final stage but a compromise was needed.

It would've been nice to swap cameras for a moment and lose the rigging, but I guess they have to film everything else as well, and it was already quite time consuming.
